Very nice neighborhood gem, super friendly staff and the food was delicious and by far better than I was expecting.
We had brunch here a while back and have been looking forward to dinner. There's a wide variety of very interesting items on the menu and we had high expectations for our visit. Our expectations were in fact exceeded. The food is both gorgeous to look at as well as great to eat.
There are many very fine restaurants in L.A. theses days. Blackssmiths is currently at the top of our favorites list.
Great experience and amazing food. Definitely going back.
Great brunch food! Music was a little too loud for my taste
Amazing food after learning about the black cat and red Mac special on Instagram. It was amazing!!
Amazing Please we will definitely come back to this place the food was phenomenal it ended up being six of us they accommodated us with no problem the music choice is fantastic the food was out of this world we can’t wait to come back we already making plans for the next visit
Amazing! Definitely the best restaurant in DTLA!
Penicillin drink was good & strong. We had reservations at 5 pm as soon as it opened and we’re seated promptly.
Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu/drinks. Pork belly sushi appetizer was delicious, melt in your mouth. Cat and Mac, Cajun style catfish and Mac n cheese was seasoned perfectly. I had the the blacksmith, which is the squid ink pasta. I expected more flavor, but realized it’s just tossed in evoo with crab meat and garlic.
Overall it was good, but I probably would not order again because of that. Definitely would go back & try other items on the menu.
The building it’s in is fantastic as well. An old apartment, I believe. The area is near skid row and the art district. Lots of beautiful buildings in the area. Lots of culture, things and people to see!
We love this place!
Great food and great hip hop music playing . Beautiful place and service
Not bad, not great. It's just another DTLA restaurant that looks like every other DTLA restaurant with avocado toast and bottomless mimosas. Zzzzzzz. Sadly, I had to ask for hot sauce to give my avocado toast some flavor. No fresh pepper, salt or garlic. Basically guacamole on some very delicious bread. The bread was incredible! Worth the price? Not when you can't sit on the patio due to the screaming homeless down the street. DTLA is breaking my heart.
Drinks were wonderful - the Never Say Die was our favorite. I got the crab Benedict which was out of this world. My boyfriend got the chicken chilaquiles which he also really enjoyed. We sat on the porch which was quiet and a great ambiance.
We usually love Blacksmiths, but to be honest, we didn't have a very good experience this time. Our server was continually giving us short one-word answers and had little to no answers when asked about food. We were ignored the majority of the night continuously, our appetizer came out last, and to be honest for the first time the food didn't meet that usual Blacksmith standard. It was disappointing; hopefully, it was just an off night. If it weren't for our other positive experiences at Blacksmith, We'd probably not got back.
We arrived early for our reservation, and they easily accommodated us. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and it was clean and inviting. Music was loud, but doable. Will definitely come here for another special occasion!
Our first time at Blacksmiths, we were pleasantly surprised on how delicious the food was!!! We ordered crab cakes, which were perfectly cooked. Also ordered the grilled peach salad. Great balance of flavors! Finally we had the black truffled saffron fettuccine. Yum!! Can’t wait to return!
A friend recommended Blacksmiths, this was our first time dining here. Arrived early enough for happy hour and sat at the Bar...loved the handmade cocktails! The bartender and our server were very friendly, informative about the restaurant and offered great suggestions from the menu. The ambience was nice, it was a Tuesday night so not very busy or too loud. The Brussel salad was amazing and the freshly made gnocchi with braised short rib was delicious! The bartender let us sample his house-made pineapple/rocotto gomme that he blends into his OaxaCalifornia cocktail...surprisingly good! It could also be drizzled over vanilla bean ice cream for a fabulous dessert! Would definitely come back.
The food was so good. I cant wait to come back and try more dishes.
The food and service was excellent!!
Going in, I did not know what I was getting into; the area is in a remote area, and seems rather off the beaten path. However, I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the mid-century architecture amid the high-rise buildings. Servings are huge, and the taste is full of flavor. If you don't mind traveling in this neck of the woods, I would tell you to give it a try!
This was my second time here and it was great. Food and service was amazing. The only complaint I would have is the music could have been turned down a notch even though it was great music it was a bit loud. I will be back with friends. Loved it!
We have been here three times. The food is exquisite as are the drinks. Brunch and Dinner menu both have been amazing for us. The restaurant is beautiful as well and staff is friendly. They remembered us from the last few times, we've been.
Restaurant was nice and staff was friendly. Service was good. Food was good but a bit pricey for what you get.
The food was absolutely delicious and the valet parking was easy and quick. I thought the rap music was too loud and didn't match the lovely ambiance- but maybe that's because I'm of a certain age!
Dinner was fantastic. Bar service was slow but the drinks were delicious. It wasn’t scandalously loud. I was with my parents and they were totally able to hear
Excellent menu and drinks. The service was helpful and friendly.
Our server was great. The food was delicious. And the price/value was outstanding.
Great food, great service! Wouldn’t suggest sitting outside because downtown literally stinks these days.. Beautiful indoor setting to make up for it!
Quite frankly there were so many good choices on the menu... we over ordered food, which was our fault. So after many tremendous bites, I needed to get rolled out of the restaurant. Would love to go back and experience it again. Great food, great bites, solid service. Total win and not expensive.
This is our first time at Blacksmiths. Overall, the experience is pleasant. The bar tender and hostess were very welcoming and warm. We had very high expectations for their food due to the 4.5 star rating. We ordered pork chop and pasta with squid ink. The pork chop is large, but a bit dry and it was swimming in butter. The pasta can use a little more flavor. The drink service at the table is very slow, 20+ minutes. We will be happy to come back and try their other dishes though.
Everyone was very nice and attentive. A little loud but what restaurant isn’t these days.
We have enjoyed this restaurant several times-the wait staff is such a great group of friendly, wonderful people - the food choices are varied and just great-i find myself wanting to tip above normal to validate how happy I am with the whole experience.
We were impressed by the food and service. Our server was very knowledgeable about the food and wines. We look forward to coming back for Happy Hour.
Hands down, some of the best food I’ve had! We had 3 different items plus a desert. Came for my bday dinner on a Sunday night.
All for which are amazing! Definitely recommend eating here!
GREAT EXPERIENCE FROM BEGINNING TO END. COULD NOT HAVE HAD A BETTER TIME. THE FOOD WAS GREAT AND THE SERVICE WAS STELLAR. GREAT COCKTAILS AND A GREAT DESSERT.
Great, tasty food and chill and cozy atmosphere with a great porch.
I recommend the pork belly sushi and truffeled saffron fettuccine. The mussels and clams are also good— cooked in an excellent and very flavorful sauce. The roasted Brussels sprouts with chickpeas and chicken and the grilled peach salad were also really, really good.
Service was excellent. The host was chill and very accommodating. Our waitress was friendly, funny, and helpful. She made sure we understood the cocktails and even let us send one back and trade for another. The general manager was incredibly friendly too.
We celebrated my birthday and my sisters joked with the waitress and manager whenever they’d check on us and they took care us (two special treats). It was unexpected and very much appreciated.
My sisters and I had an awesome time and all loved the food and the service and the people. I will be back.
My friend and I had a great experience at Blacksmiths. The service was fantastic and the food quality is very high. Portions are huge! I would go back again.
Everything was delicious. Super helpful staff.
I had the truffled fettuccine. So good!
Wouldn’t go back
