Valentine’s Day FAIL.
The single worst restaurant experience. A man claiming to be a manager started screaming and yelling at us. We were never seated our reservation was for 8:45 and at 9:40 we were still not seated. The staff was so unhappy this so called manager is an actual disgrace. If they are still open when you read this don’t go it’s a horrible place.
Disastrous Valentine’s Day. Slow service. Uninspired food. Weak ambiance. Everything really was a let down
It took over 45 minutes to get our cocktails. We only saw our server twice through the whole meal. If a restaurant is going to automatically add 20% for gratuity, the service should be at a high level. We got our check before we were offered a desert menu simply because the night was too long. Was my second time there. Unlikely I will go back.
Our server and the food were both excellent. The reviews note how great the specialty cocktails are but the drinks mentioned on their Website were no longer being made and the ones they offered were limited and not very appealing. They also had just one bartender so the drinks were super slow. We were there to celebrate a birthday and we had eaten our entire meal before we received our second drink. I love patronizing my neighborhood spots but for the high price we paid, they really need to improve. I hope they do better.
The drinks were fantastic and individual food dishes were good but the actual fusion dishes missed the mark. Our server seemed uncomfortable and wasn’t good at walking us through the experience. I would come back for the bartender and the cocktails though.
Food was good but very expensive considering the portion size. Service was terrible. Multiple wrong and forgotten orders for both drinks and food.
Really inventive food with an interesting cocktail menu. Service was attentive but not all the knowledgeable about the wine pairing. Would definitely recommend as the menu was courses out very well and most of the dishes were outstanding.
Great experience from start to finish. Loved the cocktails. We ordered two appetizers (tuna tartar and meatballs) and two mains (lamb chop and Branzino). Every dish was great, excellent flavor and well presented. Wines by the glass were good and reasonably priced for a nice restaurant.
Loved the presentation and creativity of all the dishes we tried. We also did not know about happy hour offerings prior to coming and were blown away by the value! Service was wonderful and the intimate setting gave opportunity to enjoy our meal and conversation. Can’t wait to go back
Great, unique meal -- didn't eat a single thing that we could've gotten somewhere else. They do a lovely job of creating a secluded vibe even though they're on a busy corner, and the service was strong and attentive. I'll definitely come back.
Really great experience. The service was great, food was outstanding, and value was good. Will be back for sure.
Such an absolute delight for our anniversary!
The food was amazing. Each dish was very unique and the flavors blended together to create something delicious. The ambiance of the restaurant was also very enjoyable. Great for a Friday night.
The pop music was banging a little too loud for a 7o clock intimate dinner with not that many costumers, but it felt more more appropriate later in the evening when the place was packed and you have had a couple of cocktails. The service was amazing, everyone was so sweet, but the food lacked in taste unfortunately.
The service and food was great! Do not pass this restaurant up!
It’s great! Innovative!
We'd never been to Blackship before, so we were excited to try it. The menu had lots of things we were interested in trying, so we were lucky that the WeHo dine week was happening. The menu was a great value - the portions were large and everything was really delicious! Our server kind of disappeared, but the lovely hostess and other staff took care of us in her absence. We sat outside in a truly adorable space. Great night - we'll definitely go back!
Service could tone it down. It was somewhat overbearing. The branding was well conceived but over salted.
The squash blossoms and ramen were fantastic! The mushrooms were not quite for me but my husband loved them. Such a cute neighborhood restaurant with exceptional service. I will definitely return!
tasty fusion of flavors
Delicious. Great fusion idea. Great service too!
Amazing creative food and great staff
Terrible service which
the food was spectacular but the service was slow despite the restaurant not being very busy on a weeknight . Patio is lovely but not well lit so you cant fully appreciate how wonderful the food and the presentation is. Everyone was very nice so it wasn't an attitude issue maybe just short handed . I will definitely go back and recommend. .
This is our new favorite restaurant. We ordered an appetizer, two entrees and a dessert and they were all excellent. We also had the Commodore cocktail which was refreshing. The prices weren't outrages either. After having read some of the previous reviews, I was ready for the service to be off. Don't know if they read them or not and made adjustments to the service but it couldn't be better the night we went. We definitely plan on eating here again.
Our server, Sam was phenomenal. The food is a fantastic fusion of Italian and Japanese. I wish they had a wider selection of sakes! we will be back.
Interesting menu and the food was good. Service a little inconstant. Don’t sit near the busing area where they place their speaker so it’s blasting in your ear. I’d go back and sit somewhere else.
Attentive service and a menu that will satisfy anyone looking for traditional Italian, plus those intrigued by the subtle Japanese influences.
This was my third time at Black Ship - the first two times were fabulous! this past time was disappointing.
The service was not as good, the food came out in weird intervals and it was so loud that we couldn't hear our own conversation. But I would give it another chance.
Very interesting fusion. I never had Japanese and Italian combined before. My favorite was the mushroom dish followed by the pork chop. The cabonara was a quite boring. It was just ramen noodles with cabonara sauce
Fabulous food - creative menu. Beautifully presented. Tasted even better.
Will return asap.
Exceptional food and service. This is a must try for foodies.
We loved it. Brought a friend from out of town and had a really great experience. Food was not conventional and tasted great. The space is really cool too. Derive was stellar and I’ll def be back.
Great food. I forgot how good it is here. We loved the hamachi bolognese, crudo and the branzino.
A really nice indoor/outdoor ambiance too.
Amazing food, really awesome wine list. Had a great time and highly recommend!
Great food and ambiance. Service is bad and the tip is automatic 20%.
Everything was very yummy, small menu though.
