   Night out with daughter - so we tried this restaurant . Been here several times before. I noticed in the booking it says the table is booked for 1hr 30mins ? We were there at least 2 hours. It took well over 20mins to receive our drinks order & we hadn’t ordered food then. Anyway, our starters arrived - I had the black pudding - which was fab, my daughter however was brought the wrong starter & had to wait for the goats cheese she ordered to arrive. She felt it was a bit too rich - too much goats cheese & it would have been better with something to offset the richness. Our mains came - mine was the catch of the day - trout with potatoes & veg . The trout was lovely the rest was nice but not very warm. My daughter liked hers - the sausage & mash etc - could have done with a bit more gravy/jus. I decided to have the lemon cheesecake - sorry couldn’t taste the lemon very well. Although we did overall enjoy the food - fab cocktails 👍, and the wine, felt the service let it down. It won’t put us off booking again though 👍.

   Unexpectedly great food. Went for a work dinner meeting, not really focused on the meal but the food was so good it grabbed our attention and made us slow down and savor the moment.

   Absolutely lovely food & wine, with impeccable service. We had 2 courses on the afternoon set menu & was stunning value for money. All the staff were first class, friendly & very helpful....I'd happily go every week. Great job!

   The venue, staff and food were superb! A really lovely atmosphere and great service. My only quibble is that our voucher was for a 3course meal with fizz for two. We didn’t get any Fizz, and we both choose from the set menu at £29.50 each

   Absolutely loved it, service wasn't the best. We were pointed to our seat but had to get our own menus and there was 1 meal that didn't show up with the others, we waited a couple of minutes but nobody came back so my partner went up to kitchen and a couple minutes later the last meal appeared. It didn't put me off, the first time we've been and everyone really enjoyed it except for the person who got the Kate meal, she didn't enjoy the lamb. I'd be back. We went with kids, I'd return without the kids just me and my partner and try and have some time in the outdoor area as that was lovely too.

   Beautiful restaurant and great service as always. We went for the Sunday lunch 2 course and chose the roast beef which was a little disappointing, the slices of beef were really thinly sliced and not much at all. My son had the kids fish fingers and for £9 they were just basic frozen fish fingers. Deserts were lovely, however 2 of us had the same desert but totally different potion size. Overall the food tasted lovely but definitely not as good as previous visits.

    Very pleasant atmosphere and very friendly service, including a nice personalized card for our anniversary. We chose our meals from the menu, together with the wine pairing. As a starter we had a platter with assorted starters. That was really very nice. We enjoyed every bit of it. As a main dish I had the catch of the day, sea trout, my wife had the pan fried cod. The trout was delicious. But the cod was unfortunately overcooked and had become dry and tough. My wife didn't enjoy it, and having tried a piece, I must agree with her. No complaints about the wine pairings. They were matched nicely to the dishes. Overall, prices are very reasonable, and the place is really nice. Just unfortunate, the cod was not up to par. Blackfriars was on our bucket list since we moved to Newcastle 2 years ago. Happy we finally went. But it may not end up in the top of our list.
