Blackfriarsは、2013年度イギリス北東部ツーリズム・アワードで最優秀レストラン賞を獲得したレストランです。 1239年築の中世の修道院の食堂として使用されていたレストランで、長い歴史を持つイギリス最古のダイニングルームのひとつです。 72席のレストランでは、地元の農場や市場から仕入れた旬の食材を使用したボリューム満点のイギリス料理や、受賞歴のある充実したワインリストを提供しています。また、隣にバンケットホール（50席）もあり、ワークショップ（12席）では、各種コースを開催しています。 Blackfriarsは最近になり、インデペンデント紙の読者投票で「ニューキャッスルで一番のサンデーランチ」、オブザーバー紙とメトロ紙の読者投票で「イギリス北東部/ニューキャッスルの最優秀レストラン」を獲得しました。AAロゼットの受賞歴もあり、Which?、Good Food Guide、Hardensの各誌や、ミシュランガイドにも掲載されています。

    Blackfriars afternoon tea includes homemade sandwiches and pastries, freshly made scones and cakes along with a cup of tea/coffee. Afternoon Tea is served Friday and Saturday between 2.45-4.30pm and must be reserved and pre-paid at least 24 hours in advance. Please contact us directly if you have a voucher to use. We’re happy to offer gluten-free and vegetarian options with 48 hours’ notice. However, due to the nature of our menu, we’re unable to accommodate other dietaries, dietary requirements or substitutions. Afternoon Tea may be served in our King's Suite, which is located on the first floor. If you require a more accessible table, please get in touch to let us know.

Because cheese and wine go together so well! it seems they were just made for each other - and so many perfect parings. Join us for an evening of top drawer cheeses and fabulous wines all perfectly paired. Progress through from lighter to the more robust whilst discussing their merits and searching for those matches made in heaven. Enjoy a glass of fizz on arrival followed by 5 wine and cheese pairings. Oh, and not a pineapple stick or vol-au-vent in sight!

    The wines of Spain and Portugal have increasingly grabbed the attention of the wine world in recent years. There is certainly a lot more to Portugal than Port! From the home of port in the Douro Valley, where there are some of the best value reds Europe has to offer, to the intriguing white wines of the cool north-west, and of course, we mustn't forget Ribetajo, Alentejo and the Algarve where wines are often interesting and complex. For many years the red wine of Rioja has ruled the roost of the Spanish wine scene - and let's not forget the Spanish white wines, such as fragrant Alberiño from Galicia with its peachy soft juiciness. Let the showdown commence!

    We loved the dim sum cooking class! Emma and Chloe were great. The amount of food you get makes it well worth your money, our freezer is stuffed with gyoza.

    Gorgeous restaurant, in an historical setting. The decor is very tastefully done to match the the character and feel of the building. Front of house staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive. Food was absolutely outstanding, and my wife opted for the wine pairing which was perfect with her menu choices. The set price lunchtime menu is really good value for the quality and service, and would highly recommend.

    My friend and I attended the tapas making course. It was wonderful. The morning was so well organised. The chef who led the course was super friendly and helpful. I learnt lots of new techniques and made delicious food. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and will most certainly return.

    Food wasn't very warm, service was slow, pre-ordered drinks but didn't receive them until after 20 minutes when asked what we would like to drink - wasn't impressed.

    Lovely place nice food only gripe not enough meat and it was cut really thin must have been by machine not hand crave
