The service & meal were both excellent. The charred beet salad appetizer was not only delicious, but presented beautifully. We all had the kabocha squash tortellini which was absolutely fabulous. The roasted skate wing was good, but the pan seared Dorade royale fish was even better. The light & lemony cheesecake with blackberries was a perfect dessert served with great coffee & cappuccino. Overall, a wonderful meal.
A great meal at BlackFish - the Sea Bass tasting menu was excellent - this restaurant stands way above it's peers . Also much appreciated the expertise of the staff - very pleasant and attentive but not obstrusive. We'll be back !
Great food; prompt service. Avoid the rear dining room; especially within earshot of the squeaky kitchen door.
As always, very good. However, the skate wing, was over some very uninteresting, rather mealy cranberry beans.....with little taste...........the skate was excellent but needed a better accompaniment. Dessert = yummy!

We had the five course tasting menu. The palette cleanser/oyster was amazing! Several courses were above and beyond--the radish/ahi tuna appetizer was exquisite! Some were "B" grade, like the pasta dish and the dessert, but the lobster was also exceptional! We'll definitely go back, and I LOVE That it was a BYOB. I'd rather spend money on a quality meal rather than marked up wine!

My wife and I go there often...but not often enough! This is the place we judge all others by. We have NEVER been disappointed with the food, service, or the ambiance. We love this restaurant!!!

Our host Veronica was very knowledgable and was very proud to be part of the team and was did a great job looking after us. Decor and ambience aimple not distracting tI the initmacy. When i found this place, i was very excited based on reviews, menu options and pictures.
First surprise was when credit card was required and reservation cancellation would be $50. I assumes it’s a very popular place and Valentine’s Day, so no big deal.
They called to confirm reservation 24 hours in advance (too late to cancel without losing $50) and informed me that because it’s valentines, they serving fixed menu 4 course dinner at $95 per person. That’s a steep price for restaurant rated as $. Too late to back out now. They also i qui about dietary restrictions, which i thou was a good sign. I inform them that we don’t want any onions of garlic in our dishes and response was no problem.
Besides everything i already mentioned....
1. Host seemed moody when we arrived. Waitress wasn’t very friendly either.
2. No effort made for the occasion (they could have put a single rose on each table at the very least)
3. They started serving people who arrived after us.
4. They put vine next to my date and haven’t offered to pour it once during the night.
5. Onions and garlic were in almost every dish, when mentioned it to waitress she said: “nobody told me”. Not even sorry.
6. Waitress coughing into her hand and continues to serve tables.
7. Food was mediocre at best and tasted as if it was just defrosted. At $95 per person I was expecting something much better. Total ripoff!!!!!

Blackfish was my wife's choice for our Valentine dinner, and it was a very wise one! The set, prix fixe 4 course menu was spectacular, the presentation beautiful, the service superb and the evening delightful. Of course, this is always the case here! Recounting the menu will only make you feel bad, because these were special courses for the holiday and you missed it :) But rest assured that the regular menu is every bit as wonderful (we've had everything on it). We've been to several special Blackfish dinners, each special and each well worth attending. Go and enjoy!!
Went for Valentine’s Day. Although I was seated 40 minutes after my reservation it was worth the wait. The food, especially the chicken, was phenomenal! Highly recommend.
We really enjoyed our evening at Blackfish. The food and service was fantastic. Definitely fit for foodies as we savored every bite.
When my date and I arrived at Blackfish, I was a bit surprised how crowded it was, meaning so many tables crowded into such a tight space! But it was Saturday night and thankfully they led us to a table in the smaller of the two small dining areas where it was a tiny bit less crowded and loud. Given the amazing service and stellar food we quickly tuned out our boisterous neighbors and had a lovely evening. The waiter, Steven, was attentive without being intrusive and helpful when choosing from the perfectly sized menu (several choices but not too many). Since it's a BYO the high entree prices are more tolerable but still a bit ambitious given the neighborhood and the amount of food on the plate. However, all is forgiven when you taste the bright flavors and creative combinations of the seasonal menu. We will definitely return -- maybe for one of their themed midweek tasting menus!
I thought we would love this restaurant because it had such great reviews but it fell short in most areas.
The good: beautiful ambience, great bread, and dessert was excellent
The bad: request for no cream sauce was ignored and we had cream sauce on 2 out of 4 dishes and no one stopped back to ask so we gave up and ate them, service was over 3 hours, which is long even for a tasting menu, and all the thing she served from the tasting menu were offered a la carte anyway, which was pretty disappointing.

Been many times -food was excellent in all ways. The only downer was that the table next to us was super loud/obnoxious - there's always 1 in a crowd of 6 who tries to out shout the others.
The food was creative and delicious. Service ambitious. A wonderful evening out with friends.
We had a huge, loud party seated next to us that must have already been drunk, despite it being 5:30. The crowd was old and the atmosphere a bit uptight. Service was excellent, and the food was above average.
Dinner was as usual exceptional! The roasted chestnut soup was delicious. Fish was prepared perfectly!
We have dined at Blackfish three times and have never been disappointed. The menu is undewhelming and the choices good. The octupus and the skate wing were wonderful!
Wonderful food! Great atmosphere and terrific service! We had the 7 course tasting menu... everything was wonderful! We found it to be a lot of food, so if you're not that hungry go with the 5 course or order a la carte. We have been here several times and always love it. We will definitely be back!
The food is consistently outstanding: interesting, delicious, varied. My favorite for special occasions and any day the mood strikes. Their BYOB policy suits our preference

Always one of the better restaurants that consistently offers high quality seafood focused menu. We like the casual atmosphere and attentive service. A little more variation in the menu would be welcome.
I am eating at least once a week. They have a great 4 course menu during the week at a reasonable price that is build around an ingredient. It has always been great. I highly recommend Blackfish.
The Perigird truffle meal was truly outstanding. Every course was beautifully presented and delicious. It is hard to imagine a better meal at the price.
We had a series of lobster-based dishes, and they were amazingly inventive and well-executed. Blackfish surely is one of the most consistently excellent restaurants outside of Center City. It never fails to impress and, sometimes, even startle.
Outstanding! The lobster tasting menu was amazing! Very creative combination of flavors for each course and the most tender, delicious lobster I have ever eaten. Staff is warm, welcoming and very knowledgeable. Blackfish never disappoints!
Our favorite restaurant! This is the one we compare all others to. Have never had a bad dish or bad service. Every single time we go we are delighted. The staff are the very best at what they do. We are regulars and will continue to be.

Great choice for our New Year's eve dinner for two. Prix Fixe 4 course menu had delicious selections. Loved the foie gras pate; the amazing lobster ravioli were stuffed with chunks of tender lobster meat in a delectable seafood sauce. The service was friendly and attentive.
