Blackfish - Conshohocken
Guests can enjoy a daily changing a la carte menu, as well as tasting menus ranging from five-to-seven courses.
Blackfish opened in 2006 and has since been named “Best Restaurant” in Philadelphia Magazine’s 2011 “50 Best Restaurants” issue, calling Blackfish “flat-out fantastic; sophisticated without being overbearingly avant-garde, pretty and fresh without being precious; the perfect restaurant of the moment.”

I haven't been to Blackfish for a few years and it was my wife's first time. We tried out the 5-course chef special. It was more than enough and very tasty. There wasn't anything we didn't enjoy.
My wife and I went to celebrate our anniversary and had a wonderful time. The food was excellent (my wife loved the Gazpacho and NJ scallops, while I had the four course blue crab tasting menu). All of the servers were pleasant and very helpful. The ambiance was minimalist but very warm. We will go back again.
Always delicious, fresh, beautifully presented food. Relaxed ambience and great friendly service.
It was an Anniversary and the dinner was excellent. The service was superb.
Every time I visit, it does not disappoint.
Especially the courtesy & attentiveness of service
The menu is changed up frequently enough to go back over & over.
We had dinner at Blackfish to celebrate our anniversary. It's a place we have been before to celebrate special occasions, and the food is always outstanding. We've never done a Chef's Tasting there, but decided to give it a try.
The menu make's it sound as though the chef will be preparing a meal exclusively for you while incorporating your preferences. What we got, while delicious, were just 5 small portions of dishes that are already on the menu. And, even after stating there was an ingredient we wanted to avoid, it showed up on 2 of the dishes anyway. One of those dishes was quickly whisked back to the kitchen for replating, but the other went unnoticed. It was a good meal, don't get me wrong, but was not as billed in their menu a meal created just for us. Nor was it a custom meal interspersed with favorites from the regular menu. Had we known we would just be getting smaller portions of dishes on their regular menu we would have ordered what we wanted and shared.
Took advantage of bad weather and was able to make a last minute reservation at one of our favorite spots. And we were not disappointed!
The Branzino tasting of the week was fabulous, with great, complex flavors with fresh local vegetables, including fried green tomatoes. A bonus is that the weekly tasting menu can be ordered by anyone in the party and others may order off the regular menu.
Our server, Veronica, was very engaging and knowledgeable, as was the entire staff. We will be back!
This was our first time at Blackfish and was curious to see what the food would be like. We saw previous reviews of how good the food was so we decided to give it a try. We choose the 5-course sampler and we were pleasantly surprised. EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS! We are going back this week!
Ahi tuna tasting menu was extraordinary! Each course was creative and fresh tasting . Thoroughly enjoyed !
Dinner was excellent and the service was attentive and friendly without being obtrusive.
The food keeps getting better!
Always delicious, creative, fresh food. The service is always friendly and perfect. The value is unheard of.
Food and service outstanding. Table was not available when we arrived. It was very hot and the waiting area was stifling. The staff was very nice and provided our party with some complimentary dishes that were delicious.
Waited forever for the food
Serive slow. Forgot an appetizer. Slow between courses. Expected much more.
Superb as always.
Food was fantastic, service was great. Noise level was high though and a bit tight. But no reason not to go back!
Great idea with the Jersey Shore Classics. And delicious!
Everything was wonderful! When the room gets crowded the noise level gets so loud you can’t communicate wit your table.
We still love Blackfish!
Blackfish never disappoints.
We had the Lobster tasting and it was fabulous. The tostada and Risotto stood out
Always good. Even after all these years.
For the first time I was disappointed with our dining experience at Blackfish. It is usually a fantastic experience but our last visit there was less than impressive. We waited a long time before anyone even acknowledged us after seating us. They were having a problem with someone's payment and they stopped to tell us that but it still took a long time for anyone to come take our order. They could have at least put some bread on the table. We sat in the back room and there was a party of 4 sharing the space with us and one of the women had the most annoyingly shrill voice and ridiculous laugh I have ever heard, and she used it often! My husband and I couldn't hear each other to talk. To add to the noise level a door in the kitchen squeaked very loudly every time someone came through, which was every few seconds. I asked a guy if they had tried WD40 and he said they had but that the squeak kept returning. How about replacing the hinges!!
I also found the menu to be lacking and a little tired - for me anyway. There are some foods I just won't eat because I don't approve of the practices and other foods I'm just not fond of. I am also allergic to shrimp. I had received a menu with my reservation confirmation which looked good. It was different from the online sample menu and I thought it was the current menu, but when we got to the restaurant it wasn't. There was nothing that appealed to me and there were no specials. I was so hoping they would have something spring-like, like spring pea soup, spring onions, or some other spring dishes. I am quite tired of the gnocchi but that's what I ended up getting.
We normally have 3 or 4 course and we always have dessert, but this time we couldn't wait to get out of there. Just walking out on the street was a relief. I am so sorry for the bad experience because I will hesitate to go back when Blackfish has always been one of my favorite restaurants.
Hi June, Thank you for taking the time to review us. We apologize that your dining experience was not up to the Blackfish standards that we have set. Your specific feedback, while disappointing, is extremely helpful in pin pointing areas that need improvement. I did reach out via phone and left a voicemail. I look forward to speaking with you further. Best, The Blackfish Team
Decent food. But for the main course - duck, we cannot use the knife provided to cut the duck easily, its kinda ridiculous trying to slice the duck so hard.
And one of the young waitress has a really bad attitude, no smile. Overall waiter is not very enthusiastic and not very welcoming.
7 course does not worth $90, food is okay but nothing exciting.
I would recommend just order from menu.
Thank you for taking the time to review us. We are disappointed to read your review. Thank you for the specific feedback. This is not a true blackfish experience and we do hope that you choose to give us another chance. We do not have contact information for you but would like to connect further. If you are able to give us a call, we would welcome further honest conversation.
Amazing food. Service was pretty good...some transition in the servers but they made up for it. The tables are very crowded and I literally could not hear my husband sitting across the table from me when we first arrived. If we had guests with us we probably would have left. It's a small place, so if you can handle being crowded and loud, the food is well worth it.
The team at Blackfish did an outstanding job. We will definitely be back for more!
We had a wonderful meal. The food was delicious. The presentation was beautiful. The service was great. We would definitely go back!
Very nice wait staff, great service and the food was fantastic. We'll definitely be coming back.
Went for a weeknight anniversary dinner. Convenient to our day spent on Philadelphia's Main Line. Fresh springtime ingredients were featured that showed creativity and enhanced our meal. Seafood oriented menu had many delicious options. Very attentive wait staff guided us through the menu and preparations. Water, wine (BYOB), bread (in house baking), courses refreshed without intrusion and without asking. Gratis dessert for our anniversary concluded a memorable meal. Satisfactory street parking. Municipal parking lot also available.
As always, the service is impeccable, and the food outstanding. We had the 4 course tasting menu that changes every week. And being a BYOB with great food, what more can you ask for?.
We have been here before many times but this time the food was incredibly salty - to the point I had to leave more than one course.
They push their Chef's Choice menu, which sounds interesting, but you can only get it if the whole table does it. Being our first time there, my wife was a little concerned about some of the menu items so I couldn't order the Chef's Choice, and that was a little disappointing. We still thoroughly enjoyed what we got though, and the service was great.
The Sea Bass tasting menu was amazing. I love this place and come regularly. It is in my neighborhood but has the sophistication and creativity of being a Center City restaurant. 100% have to go.
The menu has both fixed price and a la carte options. The fixed price has $50 and $70/pp choices for 5 or 6 course meals. The night I went there was 4 course choice for $40. We all almost got this but realized that 3 courses were different preparations of Black Bass. We didn’t love that idea so we ordered a la carte. The dishes are smaller and prepared creatively. There are no shellfish selections, only fish. Keep this in mind if you want shrimp or scallops.
Our waiter was very nice and very attentive. It’s byo and there is a liquor store on the bottom of the bar Nextdoor.
The food was absolutely wonderful--creative, delicious, ingredients handled beautifully--and the service was outstanding. Our waiter was friendly (but not overly), knowledgeable about the menu, attentive (but not overly), and obviously took great pride in working at Blackfish. The only flaw was the noise level in the room. Our experience was probably particularly difficult because of a loud party seated immediately behind us but the amount of hard surfaces in the room also contributed to the problem. Notwithstanding that issue, I look forward to returning to Blackfish the next time I'm in Philadelphia.
Hadn’t been to Blackfish in years. So happy that we tried it again. It was one of our favorite meals in a long time!
Especially fantastic... the chicken!
Can’t wait to go back
The service was excellent! I ordered the short ribs my wife had to tuna. Both meals were wonderfully presented the beef was dry and the tuna was just okay. To be honest expected a better taste to go with the higher price points.
Delicious food and excellent service. Their focaccia bread is delicious!
The quality of the food and the kindness of the servers made the evening excellent. We have been fortunate to be able to feel at home at Blackfish many times.
