Blackfish, the flagship BYOB of Chef/owner Charles "Chip" Roman, offers seafood-centered, progressive American cuisine with French influences.

We always enjoy our meals at Blackfish. We have been going for years and you can't find a better BYOB. We usually order the special menu or the chef's choice and it never disappoints. The ingredients are fresh and prepared to perfection. The menu varies regularly to entice you in going back!

This is our second time at Blackfish. Both times we got the tasting menu, which was fabulous. You can choose a 5 course or 7 course. We opted for the 7 course and loved everything. And we got a few extra little bonus bites. One of the best things about the evening was the service. We had a fabulous waiter, who truly made our evening. It's a nice bonus that it is BYOB. They decanted both of our bottles of red wine. Highly recommend Blackfish. Can't wait to go back. Items on the menu looked fabulous too. Might go a la carte next time!

Service was great, food was very good, cost of food and depth of food selection was not what we would have expected. Beautiful warm Friday night at 7:30 and the place was half full tell's me I'm not the only one who might feel this way.

It's astounding that Blackfish has been around for over 11 years, yet I'd never been before, nor had I even heard of it. Hard to believe a restaurant this good could fly under my radar for so long. I will write this in the hopes others find this gem much more quickly than I did.

A few nit-picking items so we can get to the food. Blackfish is beautiful in an understated way. We sat at a four-top in the front of the restaurant, and I found myself feeling badly for two couples across the aisle who were at separate tables for two, but may as well have been eating together. It's noisy, but safely this side of annoying.

We arrived on time for an 8:15 reservation, and it took the waitstaff quite a while to find us. Once they did, the service was solid.

Now to the food, the real star here. The four of us decided to order a first course individually, share two second courses, and each order a third course (entree). Solid strategy, as the food portions for most items are on the smaller side. Highlights for the first course included the charred beet salad and the smoked salmon. Kusshi oysters offered an interesting presentation, but were a bit salty for my taste, and one of the five could have been cleaned better.

Three of us wanted to try the dayboat scallops, so we got two orders, and the lobster ravioli. The scallops were fabulous, the ravioli above average.

I have never, ever ordered chicken in a restaurant. Life is too short, I say. But I am thankful I decided to make an exception here. The Green Circle Farms Poulard was sensational, and perfectly accompanied by delicious chanterelle mushrooms, pureeed parsnips and delicata squash. It also didn't hurt that the portion was a bit larger than some of the other entrees.

Our group also enjoyed the strip steak and the mahi mahi with a slightly sweet and delicious madras curry.

Thanks to the portion sizes, we had room for beignets and creme caramel, both excellent. We'll leave the cheese plate for our next visit.

First time back in months but disappointed. Server was not sharp; we ordered 3 courses each (menu set up with 1st, 2nd and 3rd) and both received the first together. However, her second course came but mine did not! When asked the server said that both of her's were from the first course area so the server was going to wait till my wife finished to bring my "second" course!!! How silly. I was supposed to sit and watch my wife eat then she would sit and watch me eat?! But the worst part was that all the food was lukewarm at best. Not hot, not cold but not quite right. Did it sit too long before the server picked it up? My wife's foie gras was cold in the middle of the center, not good! When my wife pointed this out they took it away and brought her another serving; still cold in the middle!!! They did take my second course off the bill for the faux paux with the service but are they too busy to get the food out at the right temperature? It was a Saturday evening but still the food should be served cooked through

An exquisite dining experience. From the quaint cape-cod living room style decor to the byob, Blackfish will not disappoint even the most sophisticated diner. Tucked inconspicuously along a charming row of restaurants and shops, this remarkable restaurant offers unique dishes with a southwestern European flair. The meal was timed perfectly. One of us ordered the venison 4-course and the other ate the beet salad, scallops, and pappardelle with lamb bolognese. We shared a bottle of Torino Amarone, which perfectly paired with all but the scallops. Every course of the venison was expertly and creatively prepared. The beet salad was divine, although the figs were a tad unripe. The scallops were wonderfully seared and bathed in a light broth. The pappardelle was a smidge oversalted, but delicious nonetheless. The molten not-too-sweet and slightly crunchy chocolate cake with pumpkin ice cream satisfied our sweet tooth. Service was well-balanced and unobtrusively there when needed.

We enjoyed a b-day dinner with our parents here on Friday night. We were seated promptly and everyone was super friendly and welcoming. We are always happy to byob and our bottle was opened promptly and the glassware was very nice. We all thought the style, comfort, vibe and decor were very nice. The menu was small, but had ample choices to appeal to everyone's taste. A tasty amuse bouche of tomato soup was served and the homemade bread was a highlight! The salmon appetizer, the beet salad and the tilefish entree were favorites. My hungry husband thought the portions were small, but everyone else thought they were fine. I would say skip the chocolate desert, but the hazelnut ice cream was phenomenal! I will definitely go back!

Went for Restaurant week, loved the options and each dish had so much flavor! Well thought out pairings, and unique items like pickled garlic in the tomato salad.

The food was delicious but the portions were very small, our server was great. We don't know if we would spend the money on a regular priced meal here. We went during restaurant week so the menu was $35 for 3 courses.

Wow! What a fantastic place. My spouse and I were there on a Saturday night - you definitely need a reservation here! Although it was very busy, we still had a nice private table for 2. We decided to try the Tasting Menu, since we had read many good reviews about it. We did the 5-course instead of the 7, but the Chef actually added an extra appetizer and second dessert, so it turned out to be 7 courses. I cannot eat any dairy and they were very accommodating and the Chef altered our dinner to eliminate all dairy from the meal. The food was AMAZING starting with the oysters and raw tuna appetizers. The best dish was the smoked salmon wrapped around a poached egg! It was to die for. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire meal. One of the best things about this restaurant is that it is a BYOB - which is always a plus for me.

I have had Blackfish on my list of need-to-go places for a long time, and I will say, my experience was worth the wait! Our 5-course chef's tasting menu was spectacular, but the restaurant treated us to an amuse bouche of their famous oysters and a second (free) course of dessert! It was phenomenal!

Not seen below the was amazing flan with a caramel sauce, which was provided as a surprise and with no extra charge!!

Our 2nd visit to Blackfish. We went on a Thursday night for the lobster tasting dinner. The restaurant was packed with people waiting outside at 8:30 when we left. The food was delicious and quite reasonably priced at $49 for a four course meal.

The squash blossom stuffed with lobster was decadently delicious. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable. The beignets are the best I have ever eaten, light, perfectly sugared with just the right touch of sweetness sauces.

The LAMPS, the LAMPS hanging from the ceiling in the back are a danger. One poor woman must have suffered a laceration from them. They are 2 feet too low and they add nothing to the décor, lose the lamps.

We had a Lovely time for my pre-birthday. The Tuesday through Thursday tasting menu of duck was superb!
Black fish remains one of my top favorite spots for excellent food, low key top-notch service. Innovative pretty dishes that taste great. It's hard to recommend something because everything has been so delicious in the last three times I went. I love love love the oysters last week. But loved the duck tasting this week. It's fun to go back during the week to catch chefs new surprises.

My wife and I eat here at least 3 to four times a year. Everytime I go I wonder why we don't go more often as the food is great and the serving staff wonderful. Consider the tasting menu -- it does not have too much food like many tasting menus and many of the offerings are truly creative.
