Blackfish - Conshohocken
Guests can enjoy a daily changing a la carte menu, as well as tasting menus ranging from five-to-seven courses.
Blackfish opened in 2006 and has since been named “Best Restaurant” in Philadelphia Magazine’s 2011 “50 Best Restaurants” issue, calling Blackfish “flat-out fantastic; sophisticated without being overbearingly avant-garde, pretty and fresh without being precious; the perfect restaurant of the moment.”

Everything was wonderful! When the room gets crowded the noise level gets so loud you can’t communicate wit your table.
We still love Blackfish!
Blackfish never disappoints.
We had the Lobster tasting and it was fabulous. The tostada and Risotto stood out
Always good. Even after all these years.
For the first time I was disappointed with our dining experience at Blackfish. It is usually a fantastic experience but our last visit there was less than impressive. We waited a long time before anyone even acknowledged us after seating us. They were having a problem with someone's payment and they stopped to tell us that but it still took a long time for anyone to come take our order. They could have at least put some bread on the table. We sat in the back room and there was a party of 4 sharing the space with us and one of the women had the most annoyingly shrill voice and ridiculous laugh I have ever heard, and she used it often! My husband and I couldn't hear each other to talk. To add to the noise level a door in the kitchen squeaked very loudly every time someone came through, which was every few seconds. I asked a guy if they had tried WD40 and he said they had but that the squeak kept returning. How about replacing the hinges!!
I also found the menu to be lacking and a little tired - for me anyway. There are some foods I just won't eat because I don't approve of the practices and other foods I'm just not fond of. I am also allergic to shrimp. I had received a menu with my reservation confirmation which looked good. It was different from the online sample menu and I thought it was the current menu, but when we got to the restaurant it wasn't. There was nothing that appealed to me and there were no specials. I was so hoping they would have something spring-like, like spring pea soup, spring onions, or some other spring dishes. I am quite tired of the gnocchi but that's what I ended up getting.
We normally have 3 or 4 course and we always have dessert, but this time we couldn't wait to get out of there. Just walking out on the street was a relief. I am so sorry for the bad experience because I will hesitate to go back when Blackfish has always been one of my favorite restaurants.
Hi June, Thank you for taking the time to review us. We apologize that your dining experience was not up to the Blackfish standards that we have set. Your specific feedback, while disappointing, is extremely helpful in pin pointing areas that need improvement. I did reach out via phone and left a voicemail. I look forward to speaking with you further. Best, The Blackfish Team
Decent food. But for the main course - duck, we cannot use the knife provided to cut the duck easily, its kinda ridiculous trying to slice the duck so hard.
And one of the young waitress has a really bad attitude, no smile. Overall waiter is not very enthusiastic and not very welcoming.
7 course does not worth $90, food is okay but nothing exciting.
I would recommend just order from menu.
Thank you for taking the time to review us. We are disappointed to read your review. Thank you for the specific feedback. This is not a true blackfish experience and we do hope that you choose to give us another chance. We do not have contact information for you but would like to connect further. If you are able to give us a call, we would welcome further honest conversation.
Amazing food. Service was pretty good...some transition in the servers but they made up for it. The tables are very crowded and I literally could not hear my husband sitting across the table from me when we first arrived. If we had guests with us we probably would have left. It's a small place, so if you can handle being crowded and loud, the food is well worth it.
The team at Blackfish did an outstanding job. We will definitely be back for more!
We had a wonderful meal. The food was delicious. The presentation was beautiful. The service was great. We would definitely go back!
Very nice wait staff, great service and the food was fantastic. We'll definitely be coming back.
Went for a weeknight anniversary dinner. Convenient to our day spent on Philadelphia's Main Line. Fresh springtime ingredients were featured that showed creativity and enhanced our meal. Seafood oriented menu had many delicious options. Very attentive wait staff guided us through the menu and preparations. Water, wine (BYOB), bread (in house baking), courses refreshed without intrusion and without asking. Gratis dessert for our anniversary concluded a memorable meal. Satisfactory street parking. Municipal parking lot also available.
As always, the service is impeccable, and the food outstanding. We had the 4 course tasting menu that changes every week. And being a BYOB with great food, what more can you ask for?.
We have been here before many times but this time the food was incredibly salty - to the point I had to leave more than one course.
They push their Chef's Choice menu, which sounds interesting, but you can only get it if the whole table does it. Being our first time there, my wife was a little concerned about some of the menu items so I couldn't order the Chef's Choice, and that was a little disappointing. We still thoroughly enjoyed what we got though, and the service was great.
The Sea Bass tasting menu was amazing. I love this place and come regularly. It is in my neighborhood but has the sophistication and creativity of being a Center City restaurant. 100% have to go.
The menu has both fixed price and a la carte options. The fixed price has $50 and $70/pp choices for 5 or 6 course meals. The night I went there was 4 course choice for $40. We all almost got this but realized that 3 courses were different preparations of Black Bass. We didn’t love that idea so we ordered a la carte. The dishes are smaller and prepared creatively. There are no shellfish selections, only fish. Keep this in mind if you want shrimp or scallops.
Our waiter was very nice and very attentive. It’s byo and there is a liquor store on the bottom of the bar Nextdoor.
The food was absolutely wonderful--creative, delicious, ingredients handled beautifully--and the service was outstanding. Our waiter was friendly (but not overly), knowledgeable about the menu, attentive (but not overly), and obviously took great pride in working at Blackfish. The only flaw was the noise level in the room. Our experience was probably particularly difficult because of a loud party seated immediately behind us but the amount of hard surfaces in the room also contributed to the problem. Notwithstanding that issue, I look forward to returning to Blackfish the next time I'm in Philadelphia.
Hadn’t been to Blackfish in years. So happy that we tried it again. It was one of our favorite meals in a long time!
Especially fantastic... the chicken!
Can’t wait to go back
The service was excellent! I ordered the short ribs my wife had to tuna. Both meals were wonderfully presented the beef was dry and the tuna was just okay. To be honest expected a better taste to go with the higher price points.
Delicious food and excellent service. Their focaccia bread is delicious!
The quality of the food and the kindness of the servers made the evening excellent. We have been fortunate to be able to feel at home at Blackfish many times.
Back to Blackfish and very happy about it! We've been cooking so well at home that we've not hit some of our favorite spots very often lately. But we needed inspiration, and this is the place to get it. The protein of the night was soft shell crabs, with the special being done 3 ways in 3 courses: tempura, cornmeal crusted, and roasted (I think - it was all so good that we didn't think about remembering it!) We love softshells, and these were truly excellent, and I had to have the signature smoked salmon and egg first - it's too good to miss. From the amuse bouche to the last morsel, this was a wonderful meal. The people of Blackfish are also outstanding - nothing about being there is anything less than stellar!
Consistently creative food and excellent service. One of our favorites by far.
We ordered the 7 course Chef Sampler and we loved every single small plate that was served! After each delicious little tasting we anticipated what would be brought next...we will definitely order the sampler again as they change it up frequently and, if we get any repeats, we won't be disappointed! Highly recommended!
The service was so bad on Saturday , it’s never ever happened to us before. We waited 40 minutes for water! Then the service was so disconnected and overly rude! When we asked about a dish that was literally just thrown into our table the servers had no idea what was in the dish and the guy was so annoyed that we were asking about the food. We had sparkling water in the nice glasses and the guy kept filling with the ice tap water .... super annoying even when I mentioned it twice he still tried filling the glass. Weird for such a great restaurant. Like I mentioned we have never had a bad experience here until this past Saturday evening.
Hello, Thank you for taking the time to review us. I am so sorry and disappointed to read your review. The experience that you have detailed is certainly not a true Blackfish experience. Would you be available for a call to speak further about your time with us? Thank you for considering.
As usual Blackfish was fantastic. Each time we go it’s a different culinary experience. One of the top restaurants in Philadelphia. Consistent cuisine with prime ingredients and unique flavors. Highly Recommended.
Food was excellent, as was our waiter; however, we were there to celebrate our son’s graduation, and we thought the noise level was pretty disturbing. Something needs to be done about that! When we walked in, we thought it was loud, but we’re taken to the back room to be seated. Thought, “Oh, good, it’ll be quieter in the back room.” Nope.
The service was remarkable from the moment we entered the door. Our waiter was friendly attentive and knowledgeable. He was extremely helpful in his description of the menu items.
Our meal was delicious and the presentation was exquisite. The portions were adequate.
Favorite restaurant in this area. High quality and always well prepared and delicate. Also BYOB which is a real plus for us
Great food and service. Forgivable mishaps such as some piece of crab shell in blue crab risotto and 2 spoonful serving of pea soup but overall great mother's day celebration
Nice experience; excellent food; a bit pricey. Will visit again.
My wife and I had dinner on May 11th for a Mother's day/birthday dinner. I talked my wife into the 7 course tasting menu since the chef said they would accommodate her food restrictions due to her being pregnant. Our dinner was one of the top five meals we've ever had. The staff was very friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. Thank you all for a wonderful night and a great dinner.

Always the very best! I have trouble thinking of a reason to go anywhere else.
This is as our third time here, and our best meal yet! Creative, fresh, and absolutely delicious!
We are foodies...and we love a good BYOB. Blackfish was the perfect combo of both. The chef has a sophisticated approach to the tasting menu. Each course built upon the next (the sign of a true artist :)). Each selection was more rich and satisfying than the last, with a lot of subtle flavors added in the sauces on the plate---so don't forget to give each bite a good "drag-around" so you can capture all that. Really exceptional cuisine--center city quality in the burbs with free parking is a great value and a treat for your palette.
Great start to the tasting! Dessert fell flat.
Interesting food preparation. Excellent service.
This is by far the best fine dining restaurant in the area. If it were in downtown Philly, it would be mobbed all the time. The service is warm and professional and the food is inventive and delicious. BUT DON'T FORGET TO BRING YOUR WINE!!! There is no state store nearby.
Always enjoy our visits to Blackfish but this was the first time we tried a tasting. The lobster four course was awesome! Started with a bisque, then risotto, onto the main course of a stuffed lobster shell and then a delicious lemon tart for dessert. Blackfish never disapoints! Formal service without being stuffy. Truly efficient at customer service!
As always, delicious! Dorado was very tasty! Crisp skin, perfect doneness, serves with cauliflower so good.
My husband has chicken- loves it.
