Sara our server was excellent. This is fine dining at its best. One of the best restaurants in the Midwest

My wife and I love Blackbird! We just did 2 dinners there in 4 nights in Chicago. The service was extraordinary. The doses were creative and surprisingly brought tastes together that we have never experienced. Our waiter Claire N. Was delightful and brought us tastes from the tasting menu, beignets and venison purée that were out of this world. My crispy sweetbreads with yogurt and wilted broccoli was outstanding. The wines by the glass were quite fine as well. Chicago is a very clean Windy City but Blackbird dining is all the reason we need to go there.

The food was amazing as to be expected. We all had the 10-course tasting menu.

Food is boring, assembled to look good for the camera but has no soul, and no creativity at all. Every course including dessert was way too salty. Service was rushed, fast-talking, plates removed within seconds, check arrived before we finished. We were asked if the meal was ok, ONCE, except when I began making a constructive comment, the server was walking away already. I guess they don't really want to know. It doesn't deserve any Michelin star at all.

We had a lovely meal, starting with Blackbird's classic salad--a beautiful presentation with fresh greens wrapped in a gorgeous bird's nest. From there we moved on to the beef special (beef cheek and sliced beef), and finished with two excellent, intensely fruity sorbets. While the place was busy, the pacing and the service were attentive, but leisurely. After a full day of traveling and touring, it was the perfect place to dine. We were visiting from the NYC area and will be back again, the next time we are in Chicago.

Food, service and ambiance create a three legged stood. Without each of those legs firmly in place the stool falls. From the ownership to the general manager to the service and culinary team that messages is transcended. This is a tightly woven team of caring, gracious and professional people that far exceed expectation and a matter of daily fact.

BRAVO!

Congratulations on your 20 year anniversary!

I thought the food was quite pedestrian. Technique was a problem. Some aspects of the plate felt reheated. I understand some items need to be par cooked. But the point of great technique is that the diner shouldn’t be able to tell. It should taste as if everything had been done a la minute. The gnocchi Parisienne were dry and the crust was so thick, it felt like they had been cooked and reheated a couple of times. The same felt about the potato shell for the salad and the vegetarian crepe roulade. It just didn’t taste great. And that would be ok if the restaurant didn’t charge $40-45 for most of the entrees. But at that level, it’s inexcusable. The service, however, was extraordinary. After I gave my feedback to the server, she brought us an extra dessert, upgraded our cheese plate, and poured us a round of Madeira. That was a really lovely gesture.

We have a wonderful time at Blackbird! Our 10 course tasting menu was perfectly time and each course was delicious. The bar made me a custom drink (amazing) and we got a special birthday dessert course for my bestfriend

Well-executed cuisine, polished service. Three course lunch prix fixe is an excellent value for this level of experience.

Everything was great except that we waited over an hour for our food! With no explanation, apology or offer of discount. We had an 11:45am lunch reservation to beat the rush but somehow got lost. People who came in after us had completed meals by the time we received ours. Very disappointing.

There's a bevy of chefs visible behind the counter, but it may be a case of too many cooks... Some dishes, like the glazed octopus with fermented strawberries, green garlic and lime were outstanding, what you would expect from a Michelin rated restaurant. Then with some dishes like the crepe roulade the chefs seemed to dial it with part of the dish appearing pre-prepared and dropped into place and the entire affair lacking robust flavor. At these prices, one expects delight in every bite. Moreover, despite the army of chefs, there was an exceptionally long pause between starters and main courses. Our out-of-town guests enjoyed their experience making us wonder if Blackbird, which used to soar now caters more to the tourist trade. Service was exceptional. The room is still simple and starkly striking. It just isn't quite the delightfully creative inspired restaurant it once was.

The food was great! The timing of the food was well off. We sat at the bar over lunch hour as it was less formal. Started off great with out appetizers but there was about a 20-25 minute wait until we received our main lunch meal.

Couldn't have had a better experience. from the moment we walked in the door and were greeted warmly to the moment we grudgingly left for the night, every aspect of our dinner was superb. the staff was attentive but not overbearing and professional yet friendly. The food was creative and delicious and an experience unto itself. Truly a top notch destination and not just for "foodies" but accessible to all.

Extremely friendly staff and a wonderful server. Excellent cocktails to start. The tasting menu was creative and unique, very interesting presentations and accompanied by nicely selected wine parings; the wine pairings were rather unexpected also. Not an extremely intimate seating arrangement; When the restaurant fills you will be seated very close to the folks next to you so be 'ok' with being part of your neighbors' experience as well. Overall, we had a great time!

Had another superb dinner at Blackbird last Saturday. The restaurant was totally packed with people - hard to get through the door and initially a little off-putting, however we were quickly shown to our reserved table by the extremely gracious and friendly staff. Despite being so busy, the servers never seemed rushed or over-stretched, and everything proceeded at a nice pace - prompt service but with appropriate pauses in-between courses. The dishes were all beautifully plated and presented. The food itself was excellent as was the case on our last visit. Some interesting finds on the wine list which has been very thoughtfully put together, and offered with genuine enthusiasm and insightful advice. All in all a great experience. My only comment would be that this is not the place to come if you want to have a private or discreet conversation due to the close proximity of the tables and the noise level. However for all other occasions it's great !

I went here with a group of friends before a show. Food was delicious. Portion sizes were just right to leave a bit of room for dessert which was perfect because dessert was maybe the best part of the meal. Everything from food to service to ambience was terrific! I would definitely go back!

This restaurant is incredible. It is the best dining experience. The service is the most attentive and in-depth service I have experienced in a restaurant. The food is creative and attractive and enticing. The restaurant is elegant, contemporary and wonderful. Each time I go there, I am thrilled with the overall service.

I came here on a Monday and it was very slow inside. The service was almost non existent and our waitress came to our table 2 times in the 2 hours we were there. In addition, I asked for a variation on the margarita and asked to use a higher end mezcal instead of tequila and I was questioned by the bartender if “I was sure” that’s what I wanted, because in his opinion it tasted like moonshine which is definitely not the case. I heard a lot of great things about this place, but sadly I didn’t get that experience, not even on a slow night when more time could be had to touch the tables and provide better service was missed.

Great food and phenomenal service! Great recommendations from the waitress, and she made a nice accommodation for my shellfish allergy, as well as adding an extra scoop of ice cream for dessert. Also, I wanted to try an after dinner drink but wasn’t sure - bartender came out and helped pick a trio of drinks to try, off the menu!

We enjoyed our Brussels sprouts appetizer and both entrees: sturgeon with gnocchi and pierogies. The pavlova for dessert didn't work for us...pavlova should have layers of meringue & the "bacon jam" overpowered the other flavors with its smokiness.
