Very good restaurant ; a bit pricey, even considering that the food and the service were excellent.
I went there with some friends around 10 years ago, now i came back and it was a great expirience, to be honest the waiter should be more passionated about the explanation on the menu describe better every dish and also it was very short about the wines . The experience was great but it can be better.
Pleasant service, delicious and interesting food. The prix fixe menu offered a nice variety at an affordable price.
My first time here and I loved It! The food was crazy good!
The prix fixe lunch was special. Everything looks beautiful on the plate and tasted great too. Good service. One of the best lunches in Chicago.
Phenomenal food for the price!!
chefs with tattoos.... these guys can cook. creative, witty, interactive. it is all good.
Great food, awesome service, great evening all around.
One of our guest was allergic to nuts and two were vegetarian and they still love the food, and we all had a great time and will go back again for sure. Highly recommended.
Excellent food and service!
Pre-opera dinner, delicious food. New tasting menu, lots of different textures. Very efficient dinner service to allow us to get through the tasting menu quickly to make our show.
We had the chef’s tasting menu. It was excellent. Each course was unique and delicious. The wine pairings were also terrific. Service was outstanding and we enjoyed being able to watch the chef and his staff prepare the dishes in complete view of the dining room.
The food was extraordinary. It was the final meal I had during a trip to Chicago and it blew my mind how amazing everything looked and tasted. I had been to several excellent restaurants but wow.
Food is very heavy. Little to no vegetarian/vegan options.
We were seated much later than the time of our reservation because other tables weren’t leaving. Management was attentive to us and not only apologized but provided us with an array of complimentary beverages and food before during and after our meals They made the very best out of a bad situation. Would go back there.
Great food and the service was outstanding! The tasting menu and wine pairing were excellent and the restaurant was lively and fun.
The service is very rushed for the lunch time - we felt like we were being kicked out with them offering to take away our plates. Food was pretty good and worth trying.
Fabulous! I've been to Blackbird many times over the 20 years they've been in business and every time has been simply delightful.
I needed a place in a hurry while in Chicago for a last minute business dinner. They were accommodating and the food was fabulous. I loved my Manhattan! Everyone else was equally pleased with their food and beverage choices. From the eggplant tempura appetizer to the chicken I was very satisfied!
We got the winter seasonal tasting menu, the appetizers weren't particularly surprising, but the main courses with sturgeon, venison sausage, and the wagyu beef were stunning. The cheesecake on bread was a pleasant surprise...however other desserts could use some creativity...
We both did the tasting menu. Plenty of food to fill us both. Great drinks
The quality of the food helps in overlooking the tight dining space
Everything from food to service was fabulous.
Amazing. Highly recommend. Everything was perfect!!
The food was delicious and beautifully prepared. While waiting for the appetizer, we were presented with an amuse bouche - a macaroon with cheese filling - which was a nice bite to have with our wine. I ordered the salad of endive and my friend the pork terrine both of which were nicely presented and very tasety. For entrees, we had the grilled chicken and the sturgeon. The chicken was tender - the lime broth and shitake mushrooms added perfect floavor notes to the dish. The sturgeon was prepared perfectly and accompanied by gnocchi and mussel. We followed the meal with a nice selection of cheeses and fruit. The service was outstanding and very attenitve. Our wine glasses were always filled.
Great experience overall !!
Never, ever disappoints. A true foodies haunt. Quiet, cozy and contemporary. Try the daily specials, they are special for a reason!
The three course lunch menu for $25 is great value, and was tasty and interesting. Would like to have been able to go in the evening for the tasting menu.
Great Tasting Menu. Can't say enough about that experience. That said, the ambiance is a bit lacking. For the price the service was rushed- we had an 8:30 rez and waited 30mins to be seated. One thing-pet peeve particularly for this price-point. The bathroom was really gross- for a Michelin starred place- come on guys, get it there and clean up a few times a night.
Celebrated my son's 21st birthday here recently and the staff was amazing. They made it extra special by surprising us with delicious tequila shots on the house as well as a special dessert just for my son. The food was wonderful, the service impeccable and they made my son feel very special in a classy and elegant way!
Great overall. Just the tables are a bit too close to one another, too tight.
Less formal than I expect but the food (Tasting Menu) was fantastic! Wine paring was well priced.
Excellent value for money, special occassion - and it didn’t dissappoint! We’ll sit at the bar next time with it’s casually sophisticated feel - just like it’s patrons :-) See you again.
The menu is seasonal but delightful. Each dish is well thought out and was seasoned to perfection. The noise level was loud when we first got in but there were only 1 or 2 seats available at the time we got in, but had cleared through out the meal. Overall a wonderful meal amd night
Past its prime. Riding on its success. Coffee shop food and inattentive service
Its was very good experience. nice food and nice service.
My wife was sick when we visited, and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate and provide attentive service.
Food was creative and outstanding. We enjoyed the appetizers, main course, and the desserts. Staff was helpful and friendly -- made us feel welcome.
This was our second experience at Blackbird and it was just as good as we remembered. Make a splurge and do the tasting with wine pairings - incredible and absolutely worth it!
For a restaurant that carries such a great name, I was relatively disappointed with certain parts of the evening - namely, the service (not including the front door service). Plates such as the pork terrine, wagyu beef, venison sausage and skate were exceptional and jam-packed with strong flavors in every bite. I was not able to taste much of the blue crab, as the cauliflower overpowered the dish. Our waiter was not very tentative and appeared once in a blue moon to check on us; conversely, he was very much present at our neighbor's table. We also did not get the best recommendations or information on the plates. The night ended on a high note with the delicious apple cider donuts.
