Blackbird Ratings and Reviews
Very good place, the decor is minimalist, the staff is great 👍, the food is very tasty and inventive.
We had the 5 course tasting menu, paired with the wine. Very ,very small portions , and I am a light eater . Disappointed to have 2 desserts on the tasting menu , unless one of those, was taking place of the “trou normand” .
The wine pairing was excellent !
All French wines.
Taste the bread ! Tasty, It is just cooked to perfection in the inside , the crust is what I preferred.
I will return, but I’ll be taking a la carte .
Our waitress was knowledgeable and very helpful.
I do recommend.
Hair in my salad. Kind of threw off the whole night after that. Server was apologetic, offered a new one (declined), took it off the bill, sent complimentary dessert even though we didn't order/need any. But I was just kind of turned off after that. I was not wowed by the food. It was just ok.
Blackbird offers creative, bold, and interesting food. Our arctic char and barbecue quail were outstanding! The quail was silken in texture. Service was excellent throughout, despite the fact that the restaurant was packed. Our server recommended excellent wines that complemented the dishes we selected. Timing of courses was also excellent. Given the refined food and superb service, it should be noted that the tables are packed in tightly and you have no choice but to listen to your neighbors or even get to know them. A couple of tables of strangers near us were joking about sharing desserts amongst them! The restaurant noise level is very loud. So there is much to enjoy here, but a private conversation with your dining partner will not be possible. We plan to return because we don't want to miss the unique menu choices.
Welcoming and warm restaurant with very knowledgeable and attentive service. Interesting innovative and delicious range of food for all palates presented tastefully. Wine menu excellent with a good cover of New and Old world wines...the Howell Mountain Cabernet highly recommended
Food was great, and at an incredible value with the daily lunch prix fixe. Unfortunately, service did not match up - the waiters seemed disinterested and disengaged from customers (not just us but from what we observed of surrounding tables too), which really is a pity for such an establishment.
Unfortunately, the worst service imaginable, from the moment through the front door. My friend and I tried to check in with the hostess, she was so busy she couldn't look up. A couple walked in after we did. The hostess overlooked us and seated the couple first, even though we had been waiting. Latter she said she had gotten our names mixed up as they were similer. Finally, got seated, ordered a cocktail before dinner. It was never brought out. The waiter came to take our dinner order, we had to remind him we had ordered cocktails. They finally came out, but super slow service to say the least. Lastly ordered dinner & wine for the both of us. Of course, the server only brought 1 glass of wine, forgetting we had both ordered a glass. The food was good, the service beyond awful. Hate to give a bad review for any business, but I will NEVER go back.
I started with a beautiful endive salad, which is served in an edible potato basket. Very tasty. I enjoyed my entree, lamb. My wife had steak, which was also very tasty. The portions are modest, and not cheap. The check for 4 people was $244, before tax/tip. The seating is a bit cramped. There are rows of tables, and you're pretty much right on top of the people sitting next to you. So don't go there, if you wish to have an intimate conversation! Noise level is high. I don't mean my latter points as negatives - rather just to point out what to expect, which is fine for some people, but if you want an intimate little hideaway, you might be disappointed. If you want special occasion good food, with a festive atmosphere, this is a nice restaurant. Plus I liked everything they served me, including a few "extras" they just brought to the table.
Disappointed that tables were so clean set together one could not get up from table without having to move our table as well as disrupting neighboring table. Food was very good, restaurant was very noisy, and we were rushed through our meal. So crowded servers were constantly bumping into the person not seated against the wall.
We had the tasting menu and wine pairings. The food was creatively crafted, beautifully presented and delicious. The wine pairings were excellent. The service was occasionally a little slow. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful evening eating and people watching.
Incredible service. Our waiter George was incredible, and accommodated us nicely when we added a 5th to our party last minute. I️ I picked the venue and my coworkers were all pleased with our choice- and would say, we’re gushing about how good it was. Thank you!
An absolutely wonderful dining experience. From the moment you walk in the front door and are warmly greeted by the hostess, until the moment you leave, Blackbird is everything you want, and should expect, from a fine dining experience. Each member of the waitstaff was exemplary. The cocktails were masterfully mixed. The food was sublime. There was not one element of our evening that did not exceed our expectations. Our compliments to everyone involved in making Blackbird a top dining spot in Chicago. This restaurant had been on our list of "must tries" for a long time. Now, we can't wait to go back again.
Blackbird was a special experiance. The ingrediants and mixture of flavors leave nothing to be desired. Servers are dressed smartly and are frequently available but at the dame time you hardly notice them. The place moves fluidly like a pleasant breeze is filling your glass of water. The food delightfull. The lamb, duck and sturgeon all cooked to perfection. The dessert an unbelievable chocholate fondaunt and pumpkin cheesecake were light airy and fulfilled your sweets craving all at the same time. Overall a great experiance.
