Great tastes and cuisine is elegant. My business partners were pleased.
Superb. Amazing wine selection and food was exquisite.
Delightful evening! Everything was amazingly delicious and the staff were wonderful!
The most reliable over the years Chicago restaurant. Always interesting and excellent. Chicken is a specialty done moist and piquant.
Had a lovely dinner for the Tasting menu, bravo!
We had the tasting menu during a two and half hours business meal that was outstanding. Blackbird has never disappointed me over the years. Service was excellent as usual.
It was very unexpected problem not to be able to come back to the office from lunch on time. I had lunch at Blackbird many times before. It always was an amazing experience including food, VERY EFFICIENT and professional service. This time it was very strange to wait for somebody to come for the first time In 10 minutes and the
first course of the 3 course lunch came in 40 minutes after we arrived. Restaurant was not even as busy as any other time.
Been a few times and I will always go back for the great food, wine and spectacular service.
I had the $25 3-course prix fixe lunch. Expertly cooked and good value for the money. Ate on the patio where the service was attentive but not overbearing. Would definitely go back the next time I visit Chicago.
Absolutely wonderful. I cant believe what an absolute steal there prefix lunch was. Best value in Chicago.
I generally love blackbird, but this visit felt off and I was disappointed to have raves about it to my companion. The food was good, but the service was very off. We felt rushed at first, then were ignored to the point where I had to physically grab someone to get the check. Our drinks stayed empty as well.
We had the Tasting menu, paired with wine. It was completely worth the cost. The food was creative, probably some of the best I've ever had in a restaurant; the wine pairings with each course we're also excellent. My wife agrees. On top of that, the server (Heather D) was wonderful and pleasant, and the food came at just the right pace. A really good experience, and I'll do it again when I revisit Chicago.
My wife and I went here for our 1 year anniversary this year. We're huge fans of upscale restaurants and prix fixe experiences, but this visit left us underwhelmed. It wasn't even because of the food or the attitude of the waitstaff, both were okay. The main issue is that the stark white interior combined with the exorbitant wait times between courses (and lack of any amuse-bouche to tie courses together or kill time) made us feel like we were in a hospital waiting room, and when people are seated super-close, you can't even have an intimate conversation without feeling like you'll easily be heard.
I'd assume had we not done the prix fixe and instead just ordered off the menu we'd have had a fantastic time, but the whole point of a prix fixe is to get a little bit of the best of everything, and even if they delivered on that, I wouldn't know because so much time and awkwardness passed between courses.
Excellent food in a small quaint rest on Randolph
Seasonal tasting was amazing
It was awesome watching the kitchen prepare the meals, and the attention to detail in the presentation was amazing. Food was very good, would eat again 9/10.
Great wine pairings!
Great food service and ambience.
A friend from out of town told me to choose the restaurant for lunch. I chose Blackbird, remembering two superb (and reasonable) lunches I've had. The service was excellent, but the menu this time was kind of disappointing.
I will of course come back, but I was a bit disappointed this time.
Blackbird justifies its continued high reputation especially the food. Service can be a little obsequious although efficient. Space is a little cramped.
delicious and unusual...the only thing wrong was the bathroom
It was probably the best meal I’ve ever had.
The drinks were very well done, great balance of bold and subtle flavors. The staff was very accommodating with our 4 year old child as well.
Amazing service. Tasting menu is delicious in most of plates!
Everything was delicious. Food was prepared with attention to detail and care.
Lunch at Blackbird was great. We both had the roasted beef sandwich and although the potato salad did not come out as described on the menu it was still tasty. The peace cocktail was also very good. Next time I will try the pre-fixe lunch menu
Great lunch on terrace
Really wanted to like this restaurant but it fell significantly short of my expectations.
Deserves every bit of its Michelin star! The tasting menu was remarkable.
One of the best meals we've had at a restaurant
Fabulous service and outstanding Neal! I don’t eat gluten it meat and they were able to modify accordingly. Food was really something special!
Another superb dinner at Blackbird - the restaurant goes from strength to strength. Also despite being full (as usual) the service was immaculate. Attentive, prompt and good humored without every being rushed. All in all a superb dining experience - pretty much the best in Chicago right now in my view - big praise but really justified.
Our party of 5 arrived for a pre-theatre dinner. A tasting menu with wine pairing was available. We, however, ordered a la carte. The food was inventive with flavors busting in your mouth. Everything was prepared to perfection. We each had different combinations and everyone was swooning. Wine list is relatively small but offerings well selected although a bit over priced. The service was expert and advice was spot on. Best meal in a long time in spite of living in NYC.
Wife and I just enjoyed our 10 year anniversary this past weekend. The staff was excellent, very friendly and professional. The tasting menu with paired wines was fabulous. We would highly recommend.
Seemingly simple dishes when you look at the menu. When you put them in your mouth, you understand the James beard and Michelin awards. Go.
We had dinner at Blackbird for my partner's birthday. We sat at the bar, it was perfect. The servers were on point and very friendly, but not intrusive. They were able to give us helpful advice on food choices and wine pairings. Best of all, Blackbird generously gave us extra dessert, and an aperitif, to mark the special occasion. We polished off ice cream and pavlova while watching a dramatic Chicago rainstorm out the window. This was more than a meal, it was an experience. Thank you Blackbird! We'll definitely be back.
Dined here for my birthday on Friday. What else can be said about this restaurant that hasn’t already been said? We did the tasting menu and wine pairing and it was amazing. The food was so fresh and vibrant. The wine was well paired and the Somme was pleasant and very personable. The servers and bussers were all very professional as well. Would definitely recommend to anyone with the dough to check it out.
Surprisingly accessible and affordable upscale business lunch. Enjoyed the prix fixe lunch offering. Great food.
Outstanding, creative, and delicious food. It’s expensive, but has the accolades and quality to back up its price. The biggest complaint is that it is too crowded without enough space in between tables. Whether intentional or not, eavesdropping is inevitable.
Our meal was delicious. We came for a birthday celebration and it was a hit. We'll be back again soon.
It has been awhile since I have been back in town on business. Blackbird has at times been hit or miss, but this time was definitely a disastrous miss. I did the lunch fixe which was terrible. The white fish was dry and tasteless. Although I ordered the sorbet the kitchen accidentally brought out the ice cream. Waiter was disinterested, rude, and obnoxious not only to me but also to the patrons seated next to me. Definetly not anything close to a Michelin star restaurant any more. I think Blackbird has simply been around to long and is getting old and complacent. Definetly avoid this restaurant.
Their bread is so amazing almost justified the trip alone. The lunch special is a great value and staff is very good.
