My husband and I had a terrible dinner at Blackbird. The setting was fine, it was crowded and noisy. Drinks were good and appetizers fine, but my entree was terrible. It was cold some of the meat was charred and inedible and the potatoes were like day old frozen tater tots. It was awful, it would have been unacceptable at McDonald’s. We spent $350 on dinner and it was a special night out. Will never go back, such a disappointment!

It was wonderful! We sat at the bar and the service was outstanding! The food was absolutely amazing! We will definitely make this our spot for special occasions.

Disappointing. Overpriced Champagne. Food wasn't on a level of such restaurant. Beef tartare covered with onions. Beef was brought to the table cold. Duck was ok. Deserts too. Impressive cheese selection. Service was very good. After visiting their more down to earth Avec this was a big disappointment.

It was a great evening with friends celebrating birthdays and the holidays. They accommodated our late arrival due to traffic related to the Bears Game. They also brought out 2
extra desserts with candles for the birthday ladies.

Wonderful meal. Each dish was beautifully presented and had distinct taste. Just about everything was our favorite, each course topping the next. But I vote for the sturgeon with coconut sauce and will arm wrestle anyone who disagrees. Go!

As returning customers we had another great experience during our lunch. Food always very creative, artfully presented and super tasty. Service was very professional knowledgeable and friendly from the moment we were greeted by the host and manager David personally.

Great lunch ! We enjoyed the lunch prIx fixe menu with an additional entree. The entrees blew us away; whitefish, pork pace and katsu.

Staff and beverages were great also.

Great place for lunch. I sat at the bar and received impeccable service. I had the shrimp confit and the burger. The burger was good, but the shrimp bowl really stood out with perfect texture and amazing flavors. The wine pairings were also spot on. I would definitely go back to try the dinner service.

Once again magnificent in all respects. I wrote in my last review a couple of months ago that Blackbird deserves a second Michelin star and this latest dinner just reaffirms that. All accomplished with extremely friendly service - setting the standard for providing superior food in a sincere and welcoming atmosphere. Looking forward to my next visit !

Considering we arrived at the restaurant on the wrong night, the Blackbird team were exceptionally hospitable. The conhesion between front of house the team in the kitchen is supremely high. Great work.

Made reservations for me and my two roommates for lunch the day after Thanksgiving. When we got there, they ask if we wanted them to store our bags and jackets away which was awesome. The bread and honey butter they serve while we waited for food was amazing and they would constantly make sure people had their water filled.

The lunch prix fixe was delicious. Out of the three of us, we got 6 out of the 9 dishes they had and all of them tasted great. The shrimp confit was a great mix of flavors with the perfectly cooked shrimp, bacon bits, walnuts and (I think) pineapple (which went great with the dish). The mushroom veloute was very good (considering I don't care for mushrooms) and the pears and leeks in the dish added for a nice change in texture. The whitefish tempura was amazing. The fish was cooked perfectly and because they add the sauce when the food put on the table, the tempura was still crispy. The kimchi added a nice flavor and low spice to the dish. The beef pave had a nice crisp sear on it and was nicely cooked. The apple, hibiscus, pie crust, and rosemary ice cream was light and refreshing. Lastly, the chocolate hazelnut cremeux with banana and malt ice cream was very rich and went well together.

Wow! What a fantastic menu with food prepared to perfection! The wine list is for real and we were not disappointed. We ate here with our 10&11 yr old children who were well received and raved about the food. I don't know where else I would have Sturgeon prepared in gourmet fashion. We'll be back!

Long on hype, short on execution. Chose Blackbird for a special Bday dinner after many favorable reviews. They followed up before the reservation and made annadjustment(thanks) and allowed a substitution in the tasting menu. Sat uspromptly and the bread was excellent.

The food underwhelmed. Too many duplicates (squab, beets), no shrimps substitute for beef as promised and lots of drab color dishes with so-so flavor.

Staff was very good. But Blackbird is too expensive and not nearly as good as its competitors.

I always look forward to dining at Blackbird. Chef creates exciting, innovative dishes with style and incredible flavors. Expect the very best in urban fine dining here from the moment you step through the door. Wait staff, servers, hostess, bartender and general manager go out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable.

After a hiatus of about 10 years - I don’t live in Chicago - I had the occasion to return again. The experience was as wonderful as my memory of my first visit. Amazing food, service, and overall experience. Can’t wait to return!

I had lunch here today to celebrate early birthday with my sister while I'm in the city. Service, ambience and food were all awesome :)
Reasonable (actually very cheap considering the quality and amount) price and great wine selection!

Food presentation was so beautiful. Would come back for dinner tasting menu next time I'm in Chicago.

Excellent service and food in a bright, elegant setting. Intimate enough for anniversaries but also casual enough for a business or friend date. Brightly lit so that you can fully experience the attention to detail in every meal and the spy on the meals of your neighboring diners.

Blackbird was a perfect choice for my birthday lunch! A nice twist on a pimento cheese burger. If I lived in Chicago, I’d definitely go there more often. My server was awesome as well and brought me a little birthday treat. Thanks for a great day!

One of the best meals I have had in the city! The lunch menu is creative, seasonal, and delicious. Chef Ryan's cuisine was unique, flavorful and plated beautifully. We eat with our eyes first and every course tasted as delicious as it looked. The service was impeccable and the ambience is gorgeous. Can't wait to go back again. Highly recommend! A true treasure on Randolph street.
