Great wine, awesome charcuterie board, amazing beef ribs! Delicious dinner and great service for a business dinner , would recommend to anyone!
I was not in love with any of the flavors. The white pizza appetizer with carmalized onions was over sweet and the duck and sausage dish just a little sloppy in appearance and haphazard with the tastes. The Cappucino is served in an inappropriate handle free cup for the temperature served, that heats up to a ridiculous level, without a cloth napkin, too hot to handle. I’ve had brunch here and it’s excellent. Dinner I felt priced above its standard.
Food was fantastic, cool decor and nice vibe!
Good service, creative menu. Cocktails were well made and reasonably priced. Starters looked interesting but were disappointing. Mushroom flatbread was bland and the bone marrow with Manila clam tasted off and had a gritty texture. Entrees redeemed the meal. After dinner ports were disappointing.
Food was great, service extremely slow due to wait staff being assigned to a party room and our table at the same time. We starter with the mushroom toast which was very savory. Our water glasses were constantly filled and the manager ended up taking our dinner order. We were offered and accepted complimentary vegetable samosas that looked like two bite raviolis. Our group of five ordered 2 diver scallops, the squash raviolis which appeared more like giant dumplings and the artic char entrees. We shared the cinnamon donuts for dessert and the butterscotch bread pudding which was outstanding. We would go again.
Black Barn is always spot on with a great farm to table menu, great ambiance and super service.
We wanted to like this restaurant. Great location and ambiance. But service was slow with long wait times throughout the entire meal. Had to ask for more water. Ask for more coffee. The food was ok but seemed slightly over cooked. Did not seem busy. Unfortunate as we wanted a local place to frequent.
Brunch was off the charts! Best in NYC
great all around. no complaints
Good spot for a corporate account. Beautiful space. Wine list is nice but entire menu is unfortunately about 25-30% overpriced for the quality.
The food was lovely. However, the service was dire.
SERVICE EXCEPTIONALLY SLOW THAT DAY - JAN 1 2019 FOR BRUNCH
WE HAD A 145PM RES - WE GOT THERE EARLY BUT THEY WOULDN'T SEAT US TILL 145 AND ONLY AFTER I REMINDED THEM THAT WE WERE WAITING
ONCE SEATED THE PLACE WAS 1/2 FULL SO WE WERE RATHER PUZZLED WHY WE WERENT SEATED RIGHT AWAY ?
Have dined here for a weekday lunch and a holiday brunch, and both times were fantastic. Excellent food with creative and unique dishes, wonderful service, and a great space with nice ambience. Will be back!
Beautiful inside! Super cozy and clean. The breakfast sandwich and avocado toast were amazing. Mimosas are a must at brunch and they did not disappoint. Will definitely be returning!
Honestly i really like it here but his was a bad day. First off we had a reservation for 2. I got in at 1:55 and waited til 2:10 for someone just to acknowledge us. And the person who finally did watched us walk in and prodceded to do something else anyway. Then when he sat us he took us through three tables that were connected so we couldn’t even walk to our table, he kept weaving in and out it was literally the most ridiculous 3 minutes he must’ve been high. Then our drinks just never came. Took us 8 mins to order and they never even came. Again I liked black barn and came a lot but your staff on a Sunday no less was horrible. Every moment of the meal was just done to the least of this companies capabilities.
An absolutely lovely interior environment, although the setting came at the price of acoustics, as our relatively compact table of three had difficult carrying on conversation. We came for brunch, and the menu was both creative and satisfying, food and drinks both delicious.
Great place for delicious food. A bit pricy though so not an everyday kind of place but the food is worth it.
This place is delicious. The staff takes extra care of you. Every detail of this place is impeccable. Must go!
The disappointing thing about this place was that after the appetizers which we thought were really good the main courses fell flat on their face. Ribs looked better than they tasted and the pastas were not good, very heavy-dense. . If I go back I would just have cocktails which are decent and split a couple of appetizers because there’s nothing worthwhile beyond that.
2nd time there - 1st time was for brunch a month ago
This time was a Saturday night dinner celebrating my daughter’s birthday
The Vibe, Decor, location is outstanding
Server was very nice but very busy with too many tables so not as attentive as I had expected
I had to ask twice to get a bread basket
Ordered $100 bottle of wine and I should have been asked if I wanted it decanted - I wasn’t but had to ask
Only reason I bring this up is the price point of this place is not cheap and service should match level of pricing
Was at Union Square Cafe last week and wow ! The Service and Food was a 10! and price points quite similar
Food was good
Seared tuna excellent
Arctic Char a bit too salty and dry
Beef Ribs good
Dessert of French soufflé was average but not a real soufflé
I would go back but temper my expectations a bit
We ate before a show so the restaurant was nearly empty but the food was wonderful. A very unusual menu but superb
Love the brunch, second time here and still amazing.
I usually go with my mom to enjoy the brunch in the front seating area of the restaurant to listen to the three piece jazz band. The music level is low enough to have a quiet conversation. This time I sat in the back of the restaurant,. More family friendly, lights are on brighter, and music is playing in the background.
The food here never disappoints, and I ALWAYS get the cauliflower steak. It is delicious and mom gets the indulgent shrimp and grits...a little too heavy for me but delicious as well. I will keep coming back to this place. Brunch for 2 with coffee and two pellegrinos and pancakes came to 107$. Yes, expensive for brunch, but keep an eye out for their PULSD deals.
We waited a good 20 minutes after being seated for someone to acknowledge us. I had the NY strip and prawn and the steak was quite chewy. The truffle Mac & cheese that came with the steak was outstanding however. My husband had the chicken and it was quite tender and moist.
Ingredients from local farmers, ranchers, and artisans. International wine list is chock full with unique finds, priced just right!
excellent food , that is presented well. Service was relaxed and not rushed . Perfect spot for us to have such and catch up
Went for brunch with two friends. Food was good and overall ambiance was nice. Service was not great but I think our particular server may have been either new or just not that great. Waited quite a while for initial approach from her, noticed all the other tables received bread but we did not, my friend's coffee never came. Server also didn't know the tasting note differences between 2 of the only 5 or so white wines on the list. Overall I'd give it a second chance because the food was pretty good and interesting options on the menu, although a bit overpriced for brunch dishes.
Some of the best food in the city.
Delicious!!! I can’t wait to go back!!!! Looking forward to sitting at the Chefs table next time
Very nice dinner experience. Had dinner early in order to make a show. Waiter was attentive to this need and asked us if there was a time we needed to leave by without being prompted. Drinks were good but a bit pricey. Appetizer (flat bread pizza) and entrees (NY strip and prawns and Denver lamb chop) were excellent. Food portion was good size. Dinner for two took almost two hours with only a short respite between appetizer and entree. Atmosphere is upscale but still casual.
Made a reservation here to celebrate a special occasion. Good atmosphere and had an excellent waitress. Expensive but the food is outstanding and the portions are plentiful. We went around 6pm on a Friday and the place was fairly empty while we were there, which was nice but I can't attest to the noise level when full. Also seemed to have a nice bar set up with a lot of open space but the area appeared to be prepped for a special event that evening.
One disappointing aspect was that when making the reservation I put in a note that it was to celebrate our anniversary and some positive news regarding my girlfriend's job. As we were being seated I saw the hostess write down a note about the anniversary for the gentleman who seated us but nothing came of it during our dinner. Not necessarily looking for freebies, but it seems something was lost in the shuffle of our service, as it would have been nice for it to have been acknowledged to make the night extra special.
Overall though, I wouldn't dismiss returning for a special occasion (and be more upfront about it) or stopping by to check out the bar.
Great overall experience! Will definitely come back again!
This is an amazing restaurant with an adventurous and creative Chef. The meals have a dynamic and complex flavor profile, which means you will not be eating the same old food in a different setting. The portions were beyond generous and the wait stuff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and welcome. The décor is a mix of industrial and barn that actually comes together rather nicely.
The atmosphere is smart casual and relaxed - meaning you can dine on amazing food, that is farm to table, enjoy great service and yet feeling totally comfortable in a nice pair of jeans. This is worth checking out.
Overall I would rate this as one of the top restaurants I have visited, and will certainly be returning.
Great food, great service in an inviting space. It was my second time dining there and it is still great. We sat near the open kitchen, so got to watch the kitchen staff turn out one great dish after another! While a bit pricey, it is definitely worth every dollar!
I’ve been to Blackburn several times for brunch and it never disappoints! Food and service is always amazing. I’ve tried just about everything on the brunch menu, and I’ve yet to find something I didn’t enjoy. Would highly recommend!
Great food! Great service! Cool space!
Moved us at the last min to the tavern- too late to make alternate plans
Went on a friends recommendtation absolutely fantastic food was amazing great service buzzing and great wine thank you
excellent food, great service, very friendly wait staff....enjoyed the evening and customers thought is was great
Went for a business lunch and found the food, ambience, and overall experience was solid.
The food and service was great. We had Lamb shank and ravioli. The only negative was it was a bit chilly on a cold night.
