Exceptional food and service.
Good value for the quality and quantity of the food they create. Beef rubs and pork shank are solid selections for meat eaters while vegetarians and light eater will be equally satisfied with dishes such as the butternut squash ravioli and curried cauliflower dishes. Ambiance is great and decor makes you feel like you are in a farm or lodge. Service was a little slow and our waiter tried to memorize our order which ultimately led to us not receiving our ordered appetizer. Ending the meal with the cider donuts is a must as the Carmel sauce is luscious!
Lovely ambiance very special
It was unusual to see the restaurant to quiet but the food was still great quality and I enjoyed my wine.
Went here for
Great staff, fantastic service, possibly the Best Ribs I’ve ever had!
Truly wonderful experience
Did an extremely great job with allergies and quick service. Absolutely would go again
Great food for brunch, other than the grits - they were watery. The bed had to know he/she were providing bad grits. All else good - cocktails a tad expensive even for midtown
Great place. Great food and drinks. Good quality was tops. Love the ambiance.
I could tell that they wee trying very hard, but meats were overcooked and dry. Flavors were not enough where they should be and too much where they shouldn't be. Just felt off overall. Was excited to try this restaurant as we have walked by numerous times, but would not return.
Great food in attentive service. The mezcal Exiliado cocktail was a great complement to the duck.
Best grilled octopus ever! Disappointed in attention from waiter once dinner was served. Never came back so was never able to order a glass of wine with dinner. Food was very good but overall value questionable.
This was my first time there and I invited two friends from Chicago to join me. We all loved it. I sat at the bar while I waited for them to arrive and enjoyed a delicious cocktail. We were seated at a lovely table in a corner (per my request) and enjoyed the beef ribs. They were delicious. We all ate the same dish and everyone raved at how good they were. The meat fell off the bone. The price is a bit more than I am accustomed to paying (I wanted a bit more beef) but I had no complaints. The service was great, the recommendations were helpful and the atmosphere was lovely. It had a nice touch of class without being formal and stuffy. Great for casual wear but still feeling a bit upscale. This restaurant definitely represented the fun and vibrant energy of NYC. I found this place through a Google search and would attend again. As I said, it's a bit out of my price range but it was worth it. Especially for the holidays. Everyone left happy and satisfied.
Absolutely fantastic. Wouldn’t hesitate to return again, or recommend.
2:30 brunch is apparently late, go way earlier. They told us they were closing the kitchen as soon as we got there, no brunch muffins, we were rushed to order. Our server was great, but she was definitely rushing around. Why let people make a 2:30 reservation if you're going to close the kitchen and rush them? Just stop taking reservations sooner if that's needed. Food was good, but the whole experience is unlike anything I've experienced in BlackBarn before.
Visiting from Hawaii, this is gonna be my go to spot and memory of NYC…
Excellent, delicious food! Great atmosphere in the dining room and service was fantastic, thank you!
Our waitress was so wonderful! So pleasant and had the best suggestions for the menu.
Excellent experience! Great food and drinks and very friendly staff in a beautiful setting. Reasonably priced and good sized portions
The food was marginal at best and there was a $5 shaking fee for a martini!
Food was good, lighting was perfect.
Only true issue was the services.
Asked 3 times for an ice tea with none ever being serviced but billed for. When asked about the menu, we were told they would be back with an answer and nobody came back until the bill was ready.
Everything was great. Food and service were terrific. Can't wait to return! THX team. Barney
The ambience and service was outstanding- we had a friends night out.
The food was great, maybe overpriced but atmosphere and space more than made up for it.
Service from start to finish was impeccable!
Terrible steak, chewy and tough
Good food slightly overpriced.
Super friendly hostess as we arrived- beautiful space and a very nice waiter. The food was really good and we had great drinks also. Loved the space
Food was horrible, kale salad dressing not good, chicken not fresh, had to exchange for tuna tartar that was also not good, flavors are all off and sushi tuna was poor grade and looked grey, very sad to
Report this but you really need to have other people test these dishes and improve, even my friends white pizza flat not on par with May others we had
Great Food, Service and Ambiance. I booked this for a business lunch and it was just right.
The wait staff waits around. They are more reactive vs. proactive. I had to flag our waiter who made an excuse that he came around once and we weren't ready.
I watched 5 people linger around the bar chatting with each other and the bartender, which seemed to delay drinks. Additionally, it's always nice when a member of the wait staff makes suggestions and the person was simply an order taker. The 20% tip I left was obligatory, but not for exceptional service.
Emotional intelligence training would go a long way.
The food was exceptional.
Staff were wonderful as was the food, our first ever thanksgiving meal, having travelled from London.
What a cool place - great vibe, nice set up and very professional and friendly staff. The food was delicious- my steak was cooked perfectly! It was a great place to go for thanksgiving. The Brussel sprouts were not the best I’ve had but everything else was very good, especially the sweet potatoes! The butterscotch bread pudding was delicious! The only thing that was not perfect was the price - quite high but I suppose that is “typical” for the city?
Lovely. Food and service disappointed there was no music
I booked brunch here for a special occasion - two birthdays in our party of five because I had been here for brunch pre-Covid and loved the beautiful rustic dining room, food and ambiance. We planned to have brunch at 2pm on Sunday. When we arrived we found out that beautiful main dining room was closed because of a private party later that evening. We were seated instead in the bar area where there was live music - the music was nice except that I was with my mother who cannot hear well in a noisy room so it was difficult for her to hear conversation with the music. They moved us to a table in the back of the bar but seated us on little foot stools rather than chairs. As soon as we sat down the manager came over to tell us we had to order immediately because the kitchen was closing. She was very nasty. I didn’t even have time to look at the menu. I felt so pressured I just ordered the first thing I saw that looked good. They brought the food out almost immediately. I had a kale salad which was ok (nothing great) My mother had the pancakes which were generously sized and she enjoyed it and someone in our group had the frittata which was small but good. We felt so rushed during the meal that we didn’t even have time to get dessert (which I had planned to do with a candle and birthday song for our two birthday girls) I had even mentioned the birthdays when I booked the reservation online but clearly no one paid it any attention. We were in and out in under an hour. The waiter was nice but clearly he was being pressured by the manager and kitchen to get us out of there. We drove all the way into the city from the suburbs for what was supposed to be a special occasion and it was a huge disappointment. If the main dining room was closed and the kitchen was closing at 2:30 they should have notified me when I made the reservation online. I had raved about this place since my last visit but now I will not be going back.
Best duck I’ve ever had! Everyone enjoyed their meal.
The food is great and the people are so nice.
Excellent food. Very helpful staff. Frenetic entry into bar but not a long wait for a table, with reservation.
My favorite place. Service and flavor for days!!
I was surprised to find that none of the staff were wearing masks and that they packed people/tables in as close as they did. There were several parties going on in the bar area and the restaurant was packed. Service was slow but our server was top notch. I got the ribs and I kind of regretted it as it was a huge plate of bone in ribs and the shoestring fries were hard to eat with a fork. The rest of the food (and the wine) was very good.
The food is excellent!!
