   i got sick from Char Niçoise salad! we shared habachi and mushroom toasts and I was the only one who got sick so it had to be Niçoise.

   It's difficult to point out what the positive experiences were for Saturday brunch. Everything from the hostess to dining service was terrific. A so-call "test" came when one of the dishes turned out to be spicier than anticipated. One of my guests at the table who ordered the shrimp and grits platter had it returned. I watched intensely as to how the server would behave and rectify the situation. He was more than accommodating and before he took the plate he asked what she'd like to replace it with. No attitude from the server at all which was great. The replacement dish ended up to be a 2 thumbs up and all went well. The grits plate wasn't charged to my bill either. Everything ordered from sides (brussels sprouts, Johnny cakes, and loaded tots) to mains (Croque Madame, Wagyu and Chicken Milanese sandwiches) were nothing short of delicious. Having brunch with friends to celebrate a birthday turned out to be wonderful despite the rainy weather.

    Overall, it was a good dining experience on Mother’s Day 2023. Appetizers (yogurt w/ homemade granola and avocado toast were delicious). I had the chicken and rosemary waffles, and my daughter the buttermilk pancakes and maple bacon. The waffle was crunchy on the outside and inside. That was a definite miss. The pancakes were delicious; however, one slice of bacon was perfectly cooked, but the other slightly undercooked. Service was great albeit it took awhile to get the food. There was one issue that got under my skin. I arrived early. The hostess and some of the wait staff were outside setting up. The hostess mentioned that diners would not be seated until all parted were present. No problem. That is until the table behind me were seated and two of their guests didn’t show up until about 10 to 15 minutes later. I typically don’t pay attention to these things, but this irritated me. All people should be treated the same using the same policies.

    Nice ambience but the service was incredibly slow. The waiter ignored us. We had to flag down runners and the managers to inquire about food and service. I feel bad because I thought the runner was working so hard but the waiter was too good for us

    I really wanted to like this place. But both times I’ve gone the service was non-existent. No one came to take our order for probably 25 min after us getting seated, never provided refills on the coffee, and took an hour to get our food after placing it (this was for a low key brunch for three on a Saturday - restaurant at 50% capacity). And the last time we went, it took 30 min to get the check after asking for it. Food and ambience were good, but I won’t be going a third time.

    The interior is unique and cool. It was pretty quiet at the beginning of our meal but did gradually get louder. The drinks were good, service was fast and the food was tasty, but a little pricey. All-in-all a great experience.

    Scheduled a special dinner for a weekend trip to NYC. Great setting and relatively quiet despite filling up after we were seated for our 7:30 reservation. Besnick was our waiter who was exceptional knowing the menu in detail as well as advising for our food allergies (celiac). The cocktails were perfectly balanced. Dinner was one of the best meals we have experienced enjoying the octopus, carrot and quinoa salad, beef bbq ribs (perfect) and short ribs. We will definitely be back.

    My husband and I love BlackBarn. I even threw his 60th bday dinner in the cellar downstairs with 30 people last fall. The food is always delicious and the servers are always attentive and fast. Last night we came back and Abina even remembered us from the bday dinner 6 months ago! We brought our kids for our last big dinner for awhile and the food was top notch! Ribs were falling off the bone! Scallops were perfect with a pea risotto underneath! Ricotta gnocchi and charred broccoli-DELISH. There was live music in the bar area that was jazzy and perfect ambiance setting, but we sat in the main dining room which is always gorgeous. If you’re thinking about it, GO!

    Service was wonderful, live jazz was a nice touch and not overwhelming in terms of volume (even as we sat right next to them). Food was good, the ravioli and the hamachi were slightly underwhelming but the branzino and octopus were great. Overall, definitely coming back and definitely a more than reliable spot.

    The food was terrible. The restaurant was loud. The service was non-existent. We first went to this restroom when it first opened several years ago….it was the same back then. We decided to try it again and it has not improved.
