The Amish chicken and rabbit pasta were delicious. The craft cocktails were also pleasing and creative twists on old classics. We sat in the cozy back room intended for diners which provided a warm ambiance. The service was attentive and professional.
Delicious food, excellent, attentive and friendly staff, fun jazz at brunch.
Loved the food and vibe in this restaurant - will definitely be back!
The staff must not be treated very well because they were universally indifferent and rude.
Food was delicious and service was great.
Poor service. Very unfortunate considering the location.
We walked into BlackBarn on a recent Sunday evening and it was super quiet. Almost too quiet. Not a good sign. However, once we sat down our server took over and he provided a wonderful experience. He offered me a taste of my wine before ordering, was very knowledgeable about the menu and very warm with his service. The busboy was really attentive and everyone from the host to the manager were all interested in making our dining experience a good one. And it was! The food was absolutely delicious and everything we ordered was very flavorful, colorful and perfectly prepared. My chef-husband was impressed and we both left very happy. Highly recommend, they are hospitality pros!
Food took forever
waitress was MIA
Asked for water 3X -
Finally a bus boy w/ 3 near empty bottles from other tables,
filled our glasses - YUCK
The service was terrible. Very unintuitive. Did not refill coffee or even offer it, Did not ask type of bread we would like with our meal.Gave us 3 donuts for 4 people and did not ask if we would like a 4th while table next to us got 5 donuts in their desert. Would not come back again.
Tuna sliders were well done, which was weird.
Great new option we discovered that had a great vibe. Bar was crowded but serviceable. Staff friendly and food was excellent.
Excellent service and outstanding cuisine. We will return!
Good food in a pleasant atmosphere
I love everything about Black Barn, starting with the rustic/modern decor and ambiance. But it’s the inventive, delicious food & warm, attentive service that makes this one of my favorite restaurants.
The service was ok, expected more. We also lost our table as we were 15 mins late. The table they gave us was by the bar and instead of giving us a more quiet spot, they picked one that was right next to a crowd. There were other tables open. We didn’t feel welcome and there are way too many other places in the city for us to return.
The food was good but the service was very slow. I’m not sure if our waiter had too many tables to serve but there were long stretches of time that went by and we couldn’t get his attention.
Excellent all around! We really enjoyed it! Food was delicious!
Awesome. Restaurant manager and staff were generous in accommodating our last minute changes and service was excellent. Great food and perfect atmosphere.
Wonderful food. Lively, friendly atmosphere with very good service. We were 5 for a birthday. It was loud, but we were able to hear one another pretty easily. In the back, there are a number of very large tables, with a bar up front. Very large space. Decor/ambiance fancy-ish casual. I didn’t see a lot of jeans. The food is more high end/elegant than the decor. Overall really enjoyed our meal and our time there.
Food was outstanding. The design of the space is rustic refined — a wonderfully inspired contrast to most NYC restaurants. Unfortunately, our overall experience was marred by the almost total absence of our server. Not only did we have to flag him down multiple times, but even when he was at the table, he was not present and distracted. For a table of 6 ($$$), I would expect far better service.
Lovely food, great service. Some seating areas are less noisy than others.
Excellent meal with good- sized portions. Would have loved to try more of the menu. Gnocchi was delicious as were the cauliflower steaks. Noise level was a bit high in the cavernous dining room.
As always, Black Barn never disappoints! Excellent brunch, great service. Whenever i need to impress someone with a new restaurant pick BB is easily in my top five! (Those corn muffins! Extraordinary!!!)
The food was good, but I expected more. I ordered the duck pastrami with sausage and the duck fat wasn’t rendered. The meal itself was served tepid, not hot. I looked the sommelier in the eye and said ‘no merlot’ and he chose a bottle that was 80% merlot. The label said Bordeaux, maybe he thought I wouldn’t notice.
Loved Juan at the bar and Michael the waiter. Super attentive. Thank you for great service.
One of the best farm to fork brunch experiences. Great service, food was top notch, and the band that was playing was the perfect noise level to be able to enjoy, or have a nice Sunday conversation. Well done!!
I ordered the grilled chicken salad of the brunch menu that was suppose to come with quinoa, chicken, kale, buttersquash and spicy pepitas. The quantity of kale was excessive comparing with the small amount of quinoa (I almost did not see it), pepitas and chicken. Not worthy for the price
Fantastic food and service. Place is beautiful. Real find!
I was celebrating my birthday with a girlfriend. I actually put that information in the reservation. The first thing the waiter said was “We are celebrating an occasion! Happy Birthday”. The waiter was attentive and accommodating and everything was delicious!!
Excellent dinner! Everyone enjoyed! Scallops and Pumpkin Risotto was divine. My friends also loved the Ribs and Sweet Potato Gnocchi. I will definitely visit again next time I am in NY.
Nice surprise! Delicious brunch...yummy.
Disappointed!! I booked a table weeks in advance for the front section of the restaurant, so that we could enjoy the live jazz. And when we arrived they only had tables in the back of the restaurant. When asked why? She couldn’t say and also said it would be 45 minute wait for the front. Very disappointed after I specifically requested the front. Very loud in the back. Had to scream to hear each other. Would not eat here again.
I enjoyed everything except mussels in coconut milk broth. They didn’t compliment anything else we tried to pair with it from the menu.
We waited 46 minutes to get a salad and one hour for dinner
We tried o order another rink but we couldn’t find a wait person to order it from.
It was not a good experience at all.
Food was disappointing given how expensive and beautiful the restaurant is. Gnocchi were mushy. Beef ribs were over seasoned. Butternut squash ravioli were overly sweet. Pizza was very good.
Great restaurant with lot's of unique items on the menu to share. The flat breads have unique flavors and delicious to eat on their own. We also shared the octopus, bone marrow, ravioli and one of the salads and all were very tasty with thumbs up all around the table. We also split the bread pudding, also a hit. We arrived at happy hour time and the happy hour wine options were very good and could not be beat for the $7 a glass price tag. I would definitely recommend to anyone seeking unique menu items at a good value.
May well be the best brunch menu in New York.
Rude receptionist and sommelier. Over spiced food. Not a good experience
