Excellent all around! We really enjoyed it! Food was delicious!
Awesome. Restaurant manager and staff were generous in accommodating our last minute changes and service was excellent. Great food and perfect atmosphere.
Wonderful food. Lively, friendly atmosphere with very good service. We were 5 for a birthday. It was loud, but we were able to hear one another pretty easily. In the back, there are a number of very large tables, with a bar up front. Very large space. Decor/ambiance fancy-ish casual. I didn’t see a lot of jeans. The food is more high end/elegant than the decor. Overall really enjoyed our meal and our time there.
Lovely food, great service. Some seating areas are less noisy than others.
Excellent meal with good- sized portions. Would have loved to try more of the menu. Gnocchi was delicious as were the cauliflower steaks. Noise level was a bit high in the cavernous dining room.
As always, Black Barn never disappoints! Excellent brunch, great service. Whenever i need to impress someone with a new restaurant pick BB is easily in my top five! (Those corn muffins! Extraordinary!!!)
The food was good, but I expected more. I ordered the duck pastrami with sausage and the duck fat wasn’t rendered. The meal itself was served tepid, not hot. I looked the sommelier in the eye and said ‘no merlot’ and he chose a bottle that was 80% merlot. The label said Bordeaux, maybe he thought I wouldn’t notice.
Loved Juan at the bar and Michael the waiter. Super attentive. Thank you for great service.
One of the best farm to fork brunch experiences. Great service, food was top notch, and the band that was playing was the perfect noise level to be able to enjoy, or have a nice Sunday conversation. Well done!!
I ordered the grilled chicken salad of the brunch menu that was suppose to come with quinoa, chicken, kale, buttersquash and spicy pepitas. The quantity of kale was excessive comparing with the small amount of quinoa (I almost did not see it), pepitas and chicken. Not worthy for the price
Fantastic food and service. Place is beautiful. Real find!
I was celebrating my birthday with a girlfriend. I actually put that information in the reservation. The first thing the waiter said was “We are celebrating an occasion! Happy Birthday”. The waiter was attentive and accommodating and everything was delicious!!
Excellent dinner! Everyone enjoyed! Scallops and Pumpkin Risotto was divine. My friends also loved the Ribs and Sweet Potato Gnocchi. I will definitely visit again next time I am in NY.
Nice surprise! Delicious brunch...yummy.
Disappointed!! I booked a table weeks in advance for the front section of the restaurant, so that we could enjoy the live jazz. And when we arrived they only had tables in the back of the restaurant. When asked why? She couldn’t say and also said it would be 45 minute wait for the front. Very disappointed after I specifically requested the front. Very loud in the back. Had to scream to hear each other. Would not eat here again.
I enjoyed everything except mussels in coconut milk broth. They didn’t compliment anything else we tried to pair with it from the menu.
We waited 46 minutes to get a salad and one hour for dinner
We tried o order another rink but we couldn’t find a wait person to order it from.
It was not a good experience at all.
Food was disappointing given how expensive and beautiful the restaurant is. Gnocchi were mushy. Beef ribs were over seasoned. Butternut squash ravioli were overly sweet. Pizza was very good.
Great restaurant with lot's of unique items on the menu to share. The flat breads have unique flavors and delicious to eat on their own. We also shared the octopus, bone marrow, ravioli and one of the salads and all were very tasty with thumbs up all around the table. We also split the bread pudding, also a hit. We arrived at happy hour time and the happy hour wine options were very good and could not be beat for the $7 a glass price tag. I would definitely recommend to anyone seeking unique menu items at a good value.
May well be the best brunch menu in New York.
Rude receptionist and sommelier. Over spiced food. Not a good experience
Food was great and staff was very friendly. The only issue was it was a little difficult to get refills on drinks.
It took nearly an hour for our food to arrive and they completely forgot my two year olds meal. We had to have them pack it up to go since lunch took so long we had to take him home for his nap. Good thing we brought some food of our own for my son!
The food and food service was great.
However, management and the hostesses did not seem to care about their customers based upon the arrival experience
What a great find! This restaurant has a great rustic look with a casual vibe. I was there for brunch with a few friends, and we all really liked it. A nice variety of comfort food which ranges from "healthier" to really indulging. Both the Chicken & Waffle and Chicken & Biscuit were big hits. I would definitely go back again. And now, I am intrigued to see what their dinner menu is like.
Love Blackbarn’s jazz brunch ! They have live music every weekend in the front tavern, which is great for drinks or a more casual but festive brunch experience.
The waiter was super attentive and the cuisine was very tasty.
Food was great. Service not so much. Felt like we were imposing on the waiter. Potential to be 5 stars minus the attitude!
Just fabulous! Delicious food, excellent drinks, fantastic ambiance!
The atmosphere at Black Barn was cool and chic. Chairs were comfortable and loved the open kitchen. My daughter and I shared a salad and grilled octopus for appetizers. They complimented each other perfectly and then shared branzino as a main course. My husband had a special pasta appetizer and steak for dinner. Portions were large and seasoned beautifully. Our waitress was very nice and knew the menu well, but was a little flakey on bringing refills of our drink orders. Overall, a great dining experience!
Great food! And service
Waited 30 minutes for a table and the bar area was not conducive to waiting. There were many open seats & tables in the bar area - which were for walk ins that never walked in. Poor service. Good food - bring A LOT of patience.
We were in NYC for a fun weekend...Loved BLACKBARN so much for Friday night dinner that we came back for Sunday Brunch! THE BEST Bloody Mary and a super wine list. Do NOT pass up the loaded Totts!
Great food, friendly service. I was pleased with the experience overall.
Everything was excellent! Service, food, wine, and ambiance were beyond my expectations.
Vibrant scene at Sunday brunch, music in the outer dining area, rustic setting in rear dining area with rooms for private parties and a loft. Attentive service and creative cuisine. A hit all around.
We had a great evening. I recommended the restaurant to a few friends and will definitely come back again. The service was friendly and attentive and very good. The food is excellent as are the drinks. The reason for 4-stars on service is, while the apps arrived promptly, the entrees took an undue amount of time (at least thirty minutes after the apps) and our server could have been a bit more informed on the menu. 4-stars for value may seem too high for some guests. However, if you are familiar with prices in the area for this level of restaurant it is a good deal for the quality of what you are served, the level of service, and the ambiance. It can get a bit loud as the restaurant fills up. So if you seek conversation arrive close to when they open for dinner. Looking forward to returning.
Very good meal. Very happy to have them back onOpenTable!
