Ryan the waiter was as pleasant and helpful as they come. He gave great recommendations on both food and drinks. The drinks were soft and refreshing but still have the alcohol content as desired. We ordered the fried green tomatoes. They were very fancy looking but were not as flavorful as i had hoped. Nothing compared to grandmas. For the entree we had the cast iron steak that was out of this world with perfectly cooked potatoes. We also had the pork tomahawk and Brussels the pork was great but the sweet sauce on top was strange but not terrible, the Brussels were amazing not a bite left. The finale! The hot butter rum cake! Omg i am late in my 30s and this has to be the best desert i have had in ages. The food and atmosphere may not be your thing but its definitely worth checking out!!
Keep in my mind as you read this that we had tried The Grey Sweater last August with a sad experience. The Black Walnut was very disappointing! Once seated we had to move due to the air system blowing right on our table. Then once we moved our waiter- Ryan- was less than attentive. We had to wave at the bar to get service and ask another waiter-Rachel- for utensils. The food was mediocre at best. One of our guests ordered scallops that were over cooked, returned and brought a much better prepared plate. I am happy we tried this restaurant, however we will not be returning ever. There are other restaurants to try and enjoy in the metro area.
Great food and great service. Will be back soon
Great food and service. The cocktails are exceptional. We have been a few times and it was excellent each time.
Bringing my sister next time she is in town. Incredible food and service by William and Cory was top notch.
The Black Walnut was a pleasant discovery for my wife and I. Their fried green tomatoes were perfectly prepared with an avocado slice. The Tomahawk steak was excellent. It was coupled with Mac n Cheese. The steak was plenty for the two of us to enjoy. I highly recommend their house drink.
Delicious food! I highly recommend the Brussel sprouts!
Very nice. Younger crowd.
Was wonderful! We definitely would go back. Elegant but casual. Food was great. Drinks were absolutely amazing! Would recommend.
Tv didn’t work
AMAZING. 10 out of 10!
Food generally over-sauced. I got the spinach pasta which was supposed to come with a soft poached egg. My egg was hard boiled. Very disappointing. I mentioned it to the waiter, who was otherwise very nice, and instead of checking, just said that was how it comes. Stunning. Too bad
Never had a bad experience at black walnut. I always enjoy coming there.
The layout is confusing (host desk is on the other side of entrance) we were seated next to the front door with no shielding from cold air...which was uncomfortable. The menu and prices were too pretentious given the atmosphere. ie, dipping sauce was served in a tiny plastic cup. Only had the quail appetizer which was expensive, mediocre tasting and hard
to eat. They should take inspiration from Hamilton’s quail knots.
We left without ordering an entree. I wouldn’t recommend
Food was absolutely divine!
This place is to die for! Food amazing, ambiance fantastic, and service was awesome as well. It is a little pricey but it is well worth it. The only feedback is it was little dark for my guest and she had a hard time seeing the menu where we sat but other than that this place is a must try!!
One of our favs. Always great. The service is excellent.
Excellent service from William and amazing food from Chef Black's team! We loved the baked chevre, the branzino, and the pork tomahawk. Don't forget to try their best cocktail "No sleep till brooklyn" and a Chocolate Mouse (Yes, mouse) for dessert from La Baguette next door!
Excellent food and a great vibe!!
Wonderful dining experience! The food was excellent and very flavorful and the drink was superb!
The “No Sleep Till Brooklyn” drink was amazing and a must
Immaculate, flavorful and spectacular service. It doesn't get any better than Black Walnut. I recently spent my birthday at Black Walnut, and they set the table with fresh flowers, a handwritten note from their amazing team and 2 glasses of champagne for me and my husband. We go here all the time and it is forever my favorite place to go. If you're thinking of trying it out - absolutely do! And get their 28 day aged tomahawk steak.
We sat at the bar top and it was taking forever to get our appetizer, and the bartender was very rude and obviously annoyed when we asked about it. We were told “it’s in the system,” that’s it. After over 20 min we flagged down the other bartender and she actually went to check on it, and it turns out the printer for the tickets in the kitchen had a problem. When it finally came out it was tiny, basically just a very overpriced slice of bacon cut into bite-size pieces. My husband isn’t picky at all and said his drink was disgusting and he could barely choke it down. My drink was good, but both were extremely overpriced. We had planned to eat dinner there but decided to just leave and have our drink entrees elsewhere. We won’t be going back.
Everything was exceptional from start to finish. My wife and I celebrated our 17th anniversary here the other night. We started with drinks first, I had the No sleep until Brooklyn which was a visually smokey presentation and my wife had the Ménage A Poire which is close to a mojito. The starters were the Baked Chèvre which is amazing and than we had the smoked Mac & Cheese balls were also tasty and very creamy, than we rounded it off with the very tender Lamb ribs. Our main courses were the Baharat Pork Tomahawk which I highly recommend and the Cast Iron strip which my wife said tasted great, she especially like the Peruvian potatoes. We finished off the night with the Black Waknut cake and all I can say is OMG it was hands down the best cake we’ve had in awhile. The service here is second to none, our waitress answered every question without hesitation and made sure that our needs were met than exceeded. My only critique would be that the place is a little loud, but not overwhelming. We found ourselves to still be able to have a conversation and even was able to converse with other patrons sitting next to us. If you like an exceptionally great tasting and unique menu I would highly recommend this place.
Black Walnut is a great little place with a laid back atmosphere and GREAT food. We loved the fried cucumbers, the lavender chicken, and the baharat pork. Portions are large, the service is prompt, and the cocktails are strong. It was a great place to unwind after work.
This was a pleasant surprise. I took my wife here for her birthday. We shared the Tomahawk Steak. The Mac n cheese was the best. The service was good. We’ll be back again.
My boyfriend and I decided to try Black Walnut for date night. Honestly, we didn’t know what to expect but were extremely pleased. We made reservations, and aside from a minor mixup with reservations, got seated quickly. We went on a Saturday night, and it was quite busy. Our server, Allegra, was AMAZING. She was so helpful, very nice, and very friendly. She went out of her way to help us have a great night! Everyone there who was working was actually very nice and helpful. I ordered the pork tomahawk and my bf got the honey lavender chicken. Both meals were DELICIOUS. Nothing was overcooked. The Mac and cheese balls and the bacon slab appetizers were wonderful. We definitely Will be returning!
Everything was great. Literally from the staff to the food and drink. Excellent dining experience.
Waitress wasn’t the most welcoming
Had a wonderful time- good cocktails, friendly service
We ordered the Tomahawk steak. It was amazing with the macaroni. Will definitely be coming back.
The spinach pappardelle was amazing. Had a great time dining here and most certainly will be coming back. There were a lot of options on the menu that I wanted to try.
My grandsons 21st birthday. The food was excellent the service was great. Already looking forward to a return visit
The food was amazing! Both my meal and my wife's meal were top notch.
It was great food as always. Patio was kind of loud but it was Saturday night.
Great service! Cool place
Amazing food! The waitress described it perfectly: comfort food with a twist of fancy. Really unique cocktails that will get the job done. Spent more than anticipated, but every dollar was worth it. Top restaurant in OKC for sure.
We had a party of 8. Allegra was our waitress and she was awesome. The food and drinks were unique and very good. I will definitely be back.
The food was superb and the variety of flavors was great. The service and atmosphere matched the food in excellence. I would definitely recommend trying several dishes as everything we tried was delicious.
This was our first visit to Black Walnut, and we will definitely return. Our server, William, made great recommendations and took excellent care of us. The cocktails were creative and all of our food was delicious! (Highly recommend the baked chèvre to start.) If it’s a nice evening, ask to sit on the patio.
