Lamb ribs, Mac and cheese bites and fried quail were all amazing!
Overall the food was great! The lamb ribs with hush puppies were amazing. The wine that the waitress recommended was one of the best I ever had. Unfortunately I don’t remember the name. The only complaint was the dipping sauces were served in plastic to go containers. It’s small, but for the price of the food, you expect a certain level of quality.
Great place. Great food. Parking was a little strange, being that it is in the back where there is an apartment complex.
The food and service was outstanding.. The noise level was a bit much with the club music playing in the background and some very loud guest at the neighboring table. But overall it was a good experience. The server was exceptional
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here. We showed up early for drinks and appetizers at the bar, then moved to a table tucked in the corner by the window. The food was legit. The service was top-shelf. The view and ambiance was spectacular. The bartenders were attentive, showmen and charismatic in their presentation. We'll be back SOON!
We have dined at the Grey Sweater before, but this was our first time at Black Walnut. The menu was innovative, and everything we had was really delicious! Chef Andrew Black is the best in OKC!
The food is incredible and the staff is welcome. We love eating here!
Went for New Years with out-of-town family members. So loud it was difficult to hear conversation. Food was good, not great. However, service was good. Our waitress was very attentive. We live close by and we will try again.
Great food and incredible service. The 28-day Tomahawk ribeye was incredible and perfectly cooked.
Annual NYE dinner with friends
Everything was fantastic! The only downside was we had to strain a little to read the menu, the ambiance was lovely, but a little dim. Wouldn't change it though!
This was our first time at Black Walnut and we will definitely be going back. First, the aromas in the restaurant are incredible. Everything from their craft cocktails to their food has a wonderful smell. Second, the food is delicious. They have deep flavors in their sauces and created a wonderful mix of balance from the appetizer, salad and entrées. They have vegan options, which is important, and their vegan dishes are extremely flavorful. Also, this is a black owned business that makes it worth supporting, but the food was incredible and makes you want to go back anyway.
First time at Black Walnut and came away appreciative. Good experience. Place is very nice with good spacing and decor. Service was on point. Good wait staff to patron ratio. Our only complaint was probably how long it took to get things out but that is only minimal.
We ordered the fried green tomatoes for our starter. Superb combo of flavor, texture, and temperature. Only feedback would have been a little more cayenne in the batter or a few sprinkles of sea salt on top.
We ordered The House and Mexican Firing Squad cocktails. Didn’t think MFS was anything to write home about. My second was The House after trying my wife’s. The Black Walnut flavor is impressive and it goes down smooth.
We split the Branzino entre. The filets were probably a half to 2/3 smaller than I would have expected but they were cooked and spiced perfectly. It pairs so nicely with the couscous and lobster broth. Very umami dish.
Because of filet size we were still a little hungry so we decided to try the dessert, which, from the sound of it, we probably wouldn’t normally order it. We were so glad we did! The rum cake was well spiced and warms with the ice cream and fruit it was an amazing combo.
Overall, this is certainly a great competitor for good dining in the area. Thank you for everything.
Dinner was delightful. The food and cocktails were excellent. Will definitely return.
Delicious food and awesome service
Family in town from Dallas for Christmas
Excellent food and waitstaff. Will be back!
Everything was delicious and exceeded my expectations, which were pretty high based on the reviews of others. If I lived here, this would be the regular date night spot.
Not the place to dine in the winter. They do not have a vestibule and if seated near the door it's freezing as the wind comes rushing in every time someone enters or exits. They no longer offer their best dish (scallops) even though it's still on the menu.
We had a fantastic experience from start to finish at Black Walnut on our first date night since the birth of our first child! The atmosphere was lively but relaxed, the food and cocktails were INCREDIBLE, and our server, Mary, was friendly and attentive. We had the baked chèvre appetizer and it was SO GOOD. We then had the Pork Tomahawk with mushroooms, asparagus, and sprouts, and the branzino; both were out of this world! Finished with dessert that was a spice cake, Carmel sauce, vanilla ice cream, homemade granola, and blueberries and strawberries- excellent. We will be back for sure!!
I am a returning guest at Black Walnut. I order my usual. Start off with The Lamb Ribs, Turnip salad, and my main course is the 27 Day Age Tomahawk. The service is great. Ask questions and they will gladly to answer. The place is clean and amazing drinks at the bar.
Food used to be really good . The quality has dwindled significantly. Tomahawk steak was not even properly seasoned . When we first went last year it was amazing but ever since, the food has not been very good . Wonder if there is a new chef or cooking staff
Good cocktails, delicious food, and terrific service. Highly recommend.
It was great except we were sat next to the front door and was quite cold when someone came in. Otherwise, it was outstanding.
We were immediately seated with a reservation for 7:30 PM. We were disappointed that our first choice of appetizer as well as first and second choice entrée for my wife were already sold out. The entrées we finally selected were absolutely delicious, and we consider ourselves quite the foodies. Our server was phenomenal. We will definitely visit again, perhaps with an earlier reservation.
Food was very late and kitchen was very backed up.
Food quality was just ok. The value for the price was a miss.
We had a new waitress, so her knowledge of the food and drink menu was lacking. She was up front in saying this and was very polite, though!
The food was excellent. If you're teetering on whether or not to give this place a try...do it. You won't regret it.
It was saltier this time than in the past, but overall, a great meal. Service was fantastic with Mary!
The perfect date spot! Drinks, service, and atmosphere were amazing. Everything we ate tasted fantastic. The Tomahawk steak was the best!!!!
We shared the Tomahawk steak for two and the meal was a FEAST.
Great Flavor paired with wine and rosemary bread.
Strip steak was served like pot roast with a brown gravy and was cold. Should've been explained. Brussels way too sweet. Very disappointed. Won't return. Friday night and out of fish and scallops at 5pm! Bad experience all around.
The meal was amazing. We were finishing up and overheard the very loud party at the table behind us bragging about not wearing masks or being vaccinated. We put on our masks, paid our bill and left.
All in all a very good meal that was ruined by inconsiderate loud mouths, but totally out of control of the restaurant.
Excellent dining experience! I will definitely be back.
Very loud and not very intimate setting. Not a great place to go if you want to actually talk to the rest of your party during dinner.
First time there. Our waitress was spectacular! The food was, too!
First time and we were impressed! Everything was great.
Everything we had was phenomenal… started with the chèvre, got the pork tomahawk (the mushroom, asparagus + Brussels side was immaculate) and my boyfriend got the English ribs! Best meal in OKC! Pro tip: get the black walnut cake to go!
