Excellent food, great service, and a cool location.
Our server Bri was very knowledgeable about the menu and every choice we made we were thrilled with. We started with two cheeses from their cheese and meat options. Both were delicious and the presentation was outstanding. The fried green tomatoes were to die for along with the “faux croix” and my boyfriend enjoyed a bourbon and blood orange purée beverage. We got the pork chop and spaghetti with broccoli rabe both delicious and well thought out balance of flavors. Well worth it for a much needed date night out.
Really great appetizers
Customer service was awful. For reservations don’t feel like my date and I should’ve had awful sitting
Everything was just decent. Food was alright. Service was alright. But the bill was crazy expensive definitely not worth it not even half of what I paid would’ve made me feel like it was worth it.
Great spot for quality brunch with a view
The food was quite good. The atmosphere was not as romantic as I hoped but in warmer weather we may try the rooftop dining area.
First time dining there. Was highly recommended. I was there for date night, however; it is a place to dine for just about any occasion. Drinks were outstanding and food was amazing. Rooftop dining was incredible. Staff was extremely courteous. Overall experience was one of the best I’ve had.
Reception was not good as hostess stayed on phone with a future reservation and didn’t look up or acknowledge us. But then another hostess came and said tables were available on roof as we had requested. When we got to roof, they had no idea we were coming. Rocky start but great rooftop table and food was very good. Server was nice but uninspired and we had to ask for specials and she just seemed like she didn’t like her job much. Food was very good, tsukune, pork rinds and homemade chips were very good. Beet salad was great and craft cocktails were great too. Overall more training for staff on service but food was really good!
Outstanding service ....love the burger. Everyone enjoyed their food.
Met business clients at the restaurant. Roof top bar was open but no activity due to the rain. We sat at the inside bar down stairs and had good handcrafted martini's and conversation. Our table reservation was for 7:15 and we were seated at 7:10. The appetizers ( fried olives and potene) were exceptional and quick to deliver. The wine that was recommended by the waiter was very good and a nice pairing to the meal. We all enjoyed our main entres which was delivered in perfect timing. The braised ribs were exceptional. Our waiter was attentive, but not too attentive. Didn't hover and provided us exceptional service without being overly available. I highly recommend a visit to this neighborhood gem. We will be back.
Great atmosphere, I felt menu was a little limited, but overall was good
Roof top dining on a clear night ...
Served by the coolest waiter - like being served by your favorite cousin who enjoys a good brew in a unique place. He wants you to have a good time , enjoy the vibe but he doesn’t want to crowd you.
Then the food shows up— fresh, unique combinations, flavorful, delicious.
And you just want to stay there all night. You vow to come back!
Incredible food. Wait time on cocktails can get a little long, but the flavor is worth the wait. After having a public disturbance take place next to our table, they went above and beyond to make sure the rest of our dining experience was perfect! If lived I. Jacksonville I would be dining at Black Sheep as often as possible!!
Rooftop bar and seating area is fantastic! Food and cocktails were also great!
Always a treat when I visit my hometown. My wife & I always book a table in advance of vacation and have always come away very happy. I dread the possibility that it could slip sometime, but have so far been very relieved to find a consistent quality to the staff, menu, and food.
We came here to celebrate our 24th anniversary and were not disappointed but then again, we never are. The food is always on point and the drinks are as well.
Pork chop was excellent but the accompaniments did not pair well. Chicken was great but accompaniments were a bit a scimpy. Wine selection quite good. Service excellent
Had brunch while sitting on the rooftop! Awesome overall dining experience! I am never disappointed whenever I visit Blacksheep.
Delicious! My sons birthday celebration was perfect with a lovely dessert display! Thank you!
The terrace ambience was great, the service was spectacular and the food was fantastic. Really a nice place.
Repeat customer. Had our favorite chicken and rice middlins. However, the rice middlins were gummy, not cooked properly, and tasted like wallpaper paste. Last year was the first time I had rice middlins and they were outstanding!
We were unexpectedly in Jacksonville due to the predicted storms in New England.
Black Sheep was recommended by a former employee. We were very pleasantly surprised.
Great food, relaxed, reasonable prices, and very attentive service.
Would definitely recommend the shrimp and grits, and the carrot soup was lovely.
The rooftop dining is fantastic! Such great ambiance and views!
Atmosphere is awesome. Food was ok service was excellent.
Good food including gluten-free options, extensive wine list (although not the one online that persuaded me to dine there) and excellent service from Hilary.
Wonderful, attentive service. Best snack: fried green tomatoes. Fabulous entrees: eggplant, shrimp ‘n grits. Decadent desserts. The best.
Had a friend visiting from out of town, and thought Black Sheep would be a great experience. We were right! Incredibly attentive service, delicious mains & dessert. The bread pudding is incredible.
We had a wonderful meal here. The fried olives stuffed with pimento cheese are worth trying, as well as the fried green tomatoes, and the little gem salad. At our table we had the Korean Ribs, the steak, and the duck breast. Each of us enjoyed our meal. My only complaint is the food was a little slow in coming out. If we had not been going to a show, that would not have necessarily been a bad thing.
Had dinner at Black Sheep to celebrate my wife's birthday. The food was fantastic. I had the Berkshire Pork Chops with bacon and hollandaise sauce which was a great combination. My wife and son also enjoyed their entrees. They have an interesting wine selection as well.
We went to Black Sheep with friends that really love this place. It was our first time. I thought the food was good and the ambience was pleasant. The waiter was great.
If you decide to grab a bite at the Black Sheep before the show at the Florida Theater , you've made a wise choice. Ask for Donny- he will cater to your every need, answer every question with a patient smile & never even consider rushing you as you enjoy your delectable choice from a varied menu...it has every thing for every taste bud. Even though we were there before the place got busy, the hostess sat us right in the front ...and proceeded to sit another party of 6 right beside us??? my only complaint in an otherwise ' highly recommend' review...
It was very disappointing! We made reservations ahead of time and noted in remarks that we wanted to sit on the rooftop. When we arrived, we were told that they don't take reservations upstairs. It would've been nice to have been informed when we made reservations. Once we got seated, our server took a very long time to even take our order. I ordered the seasonal hash and it was loaded with potatoes and only 3 slices of mushrooms along with pesto. Another person ordered the pastrami hash and it was also a bunch of potatoes and hardly any meat. Our server was not very attentive and barely checked on us. In fact, one person was still waiting on a bar drink even after the server checked us all out and brought our cash/credits cards back. She was no where to be seen so we went up to the bar and the bartender acted as if we were inconveniencing him for a drink that was already paid for that we did not receive. There were 3 out of 5 people in our party who had never been to Black Sheep and they claimed that they would never come back.
Wonderful lunch on the 4th floor outside! Pork belly , eggs, biscuit, grits and shrimp roll with salad for us! Great view, service and food!
My wife liked her hamburger. The pastrami sandwich was not a hit.
Had a wonderful time! The staff, beverage, and food were all top notch!
Food not what we expected based on reviews. Great location, vibrant atmosphere. We all said it was good, but won’t hurry back.
food offerings had too many tastes conflicting with each other, and odd mixtures that did not work well together. High quality local ingredients; excellent service; lovely space; thoughtfully selected list (especially beers); failure in the kitchen, both in starters and in mains. A real disappointment.
Love Blacksheep, especially the rooftop dining. A favorite for my family!
Just what the doctor ordered!! It was amazing to eat on the rooftop on a cool starry night. Fireplace was awesome.
