The rooftop dining is fantastic! Such great ambiance and views!
Atmosphere is awesome. Food was ok service was excellent.
Good food including gluten-free options, extensive wine list (although not the one online that persuaded me to dine there) and excellent service from Hilary.
Wonderful, attentive service. Best snack: fried green tomatoes. Fabulous entrees: eggplant, shrimp ‘n grits. Decadent desserts. The best.
Had a friend visiting from out of town, and thought Black Sheep would be a great experience. We were right! Incredibly attentive service, delicious mains & dessert. The bread pudding is incredible.
We had a wonderful meal here. The fried olives stuffed with pimento cheese are worth trying, as well as the fried green tomatoes, and the little gem salad. At our table we had the Korean Ribs, the steak, and the duck breast. Each of us enjoyed our meal. My only complaint is the food was a little slow in coming out. If we had not been going to a show, that would not have necessarily been a bad thing.
Had dinner at Black Sheep to celebrate my wife's birthday. The food was fantastic. I had the Berkshire Pork Chops with bacon and hollandaise sauce which was a great combination. My wife and son also enjoyed their entrees. They have an interesting wine selection as well.
If you decide to grab a bite at the Black Sheep before the show at the Florida Theater , you've made a wise choice. Ask for Donny- he will cater to your every need, answer every question with a patient smile & never even consider rushing you as you enjoy your delectable choice from a varied menu...it has every thing for every taste bud. Even though we were there before the place got busy, the hostess sat us right in the front ...and proceeded to sit another party of 6 right beside us??? my only complaint in an otherwise ' highly recommend' review...
It was very disappointing! We made reservations ahead of time and noted in remarks that we wanted to sit on the rooftop. When we arrived, we were told that they don't take reservations upstairs. It would've been nice to have been informed when we made reservations. Once we got seated, our server took a very long time to even take our order. I ordered the seasonal hash and it was loaded with potatoes and only 3 slices of mushrooms along with pesto. Another person ordered the pastrami hash and it was also a bunch of potatoes and hardly any meat. Our server was not very attentive and barely checked on us. In fact, one person was still waiting on a bar drink even after the server checked us all out and brought our cash/credits cards back. She was no where to be seen so we went up to the bar and the bartender acted as if we were inconveniencing him for a drink that was already paid for that we did not receive. There were 3 out of 5 people in our party who had never been to Black Sheep and they claimed that they would never come back.
Wonderful lunch on the 4th floor outside! Pork belly , eggs, biscuit, grits and shrimp roll with salad for us! Great view, service and food!
My wife liked her hamburger. The pastrami sandwich was not a hit.
Had a wonderful time! The staff, beverage, and food were all top notch!
Food not what we expected based on reviews. Great location, vibrant atmosphere. We all said it was good, but won’t hurry back.
food offerings had too many tastes conflicting with each other, and odd mixtures that did not work well together. High quality local ingredients; excellent service; lovely space; thoughtfully selected list (especially beers); failure in the kitchen, both in starters and in mains. A real disappointment.
Love Blacksheep, especially the rooftop dining. A favorite for my family!
Just what the doctor ordered!! It was amazing to eat on the rooftop on a cool starry night. Fireplace was awesome.
Visiting from Asbury Park NJ area and wanted to treat our daughter and son in love to a nice dinner. They recommended this. We all had a delicious meal and wonderful evening rooftop. Sad they are leaving the area, but we know a great place to stop for dinner on the way south!
great service, food and view. Reservation downstairs was easily traded for rooftop drinks and dining.
Brought a dear friend to dinner...his first time there. We all enjoyed dinner, beverages, and the service, as always.
We enjoyed the food, our server was friendly and personable, the evening was comfortable. But I will hesitate to return since a young lady was allowed to bring her puppy in and dine. This was not a service dog and if that is permissible to black sheep, then they should offer me an option to avoid this. I had a reservation. Now I have a different type of reservations.
Great food locally sourced and sustainably sourced. Lindsay was our server and was exemplary. Her wine suggestions were spot on. The special risotto with shaved truffles was sinfully delicious. The mussels with the IPA beer in the sauce were the best ever!
My favorite restaurant! You'll never forget the distinctive triangular building and will love the rooftop bar!
I am vegetarian and the options provided were VERY limited. If you are a fan of meat this would be a good place to try. Food was tasty and service was great. I would return for the roof top and drinks.
Enjoyed sitting in the Rooftop area. Service was a little slow as the area filled up but we'll be back.
Beautiful restaurant in the Riverside area. Enjoyed a craft cocktail at the bar and a lovely meal on the rooftop. Excellent service and wonderful selection of local ingredients. Perfect way to spend a gorgeous evening.
Great service with rooftop dining!
I loved the atmosphere. The staff was very professional and polite. I LOVED the rooftop, although it was cool the fire place made it warm and cozy. Thank you for such a great experience!
All of the food was amazing! The Steak Diane was the best ribeye I've ever had and the Korean Braised Short Ribs were great!
The dessert was horrible. Brownie with ice cream is a simple construction and the ice cream had zero flavor. I tried the ramen and found clumps of noodles together, which was a little disappointing but not the worst thing but I would not pay for it again. The server was amazing.
Every time we visit Jacksonville we make it a point to eat at Black Sheep. The fried olives are excellent (I don't like olives) and they have the best grits I have ever tasted.
My friend and I made a last min reservation here after a very unsatisfactory experience at a nearby restaurant. We wanted to get a rooftop table here but a 30 min wait didn’t seem appealing so we chose to dine downstairs. Our server was a very polite and attentive young man who was a welcome relief from the experience we had earlier in the evening at River and Post. We actually left that restaurant after we had waited 15 mins and not even gotten a glass of water at our table.
For our dinner experience here, we ordered the smoked trout rillettes and wow!! It was delicious! I’d definitely order that again. For my entree I ordered the braised lamb neck. While I loved the flavor, I was not a fan of the rice cakes that are added to it. It had a very gummy texture and did nothing for the dish. At first I thought it was pasta but the texture is so unpleasant that I just put it aside.
My friend got the grass fed burger with a side of Mac and cheese. That Mac and cheese.....is to die for!! O. M. G!! They used to have the blue cheese savory bread pudding but I don’t see it on the menu now. This Mac and cheese is right up there with that pudding. One bite of it made my night. I was done, satisfied and ready to go home with it!!
Whatever Black Sheep is doing, I hope they stay in business for a long time. The service is always friendly and attentive and the food is phenomenal.
Very positive feedback from my business guests. We enjoyed the roof top dining experience. Great ambience. Food for the price point was average but certainly not exceptionally good. Would return.
Our waiter Corbett was very attentive and knew the menu so he could offer suggestions. The pasta was mouthwatering and the shrimp and grits took us back to childhood. The Dusty Boot is a drink all bourbon lovers should try. Thank you fir a great time!
From the interior décor and ambiance to the friendly and engaging server, I knew this was a good find. Recommended by a local, the restaurant has high quality new American dishes that aren't afraid to experiment with classics. The ingredients are farm-to-table and sourced from North Florida and South Georgia. We ordered the poutine, which includes a divine local pastrami to the classic dish. The classic shrimp and grits were outstanding, while the Short Ribs - done with a Korean flair - were exquisite. The wine, beer, and whiskey list is top notch. The prices, which may be higher than average for the area, aren't out of the realm for a large city's best restaurant. And this is one of Jacksonville's best restaurants.
Everything came out quickly and was delicious.
Food was amazing, staff was helpful and attentive. I had asked multiple questions regarding the menu to both our server and the gentleman who brought our water, and they were both very knowledgeable on the menu. The restaurant was busy, but I was still able to have a quiet conversation without shouting across the table to my SO. All in all a great experience, delicious food and I would definitely go back.
Imaginative menu, good ingredients, well chosen wine list, cheerful helpful wait staff (if a little inexpert).
The place is too overpriced for such a small amount of food. The food was dry and stale and they don’t sing happy birthday which is awful.
My girlfriends and I went for dinner and it was marvelous. We enjoyed the Fried Olives stuffed with pimento and the Fried Green Tomatoes as starters. My friends had the shrimp and grits which they both loved and I had the Steak Diane with a side of Mac and Cheese. Black Sheep has a scrumptious Mac and Cheese. Their staff is always attentive to detail and friendly.
We stopped in for brunch Sunday morning and chose to sit on the roof. All the food we ordered was delicious and the view was awesome. It was a little chilly outside, but they had heaters available for us to warm up with. As for food, we got the poutine appetizer which was deliciously covered in cheese and gravy.
