We routinely make a stop at Black Sheep when we visit Jax because we love the food
Food was very good, there was a wait for the rooftop , but it was fine. Only gripe was the smokers on the rooftop 😷 Black Sheep was very nice and my date was impressed ☺️😍🙈
Wonderful food and even better service. The rooftop was the cherry on top.
first time going for sunday brunch - food was great! i had the shrimp roll with caesar salad as a side - amazing! we also got the fried green tomatoes, which were delish!
Huge disappointment. Bloody Mary is the worst I have ever had. Side salad was only lettuce...breakfast sandwich was mediocre at best. The place was empty on a Saturday for brunch. Will not dine again.
Gil was a great server. Ate on rooftop. Beautiful view!
Loved the rooftop and then the delicious dinner downstairs. Our service was excellent at every stop!
My husband and I had brunch on the rooftop. We had a view of the river, which was nice. It was very hot (August in Florida, so....), but the table umbrella afforded us shad for most of our time there, and the light occasional breeze was pleasant. There were planters around the dining area, and shrubbery/plants along the edge. Unfortunately, both were in need of some TLC. The planters were devoid of any plants, and the shrub along the edge was in need of some pruning. (pics below)
The food was delicious. My husband had the sausage omelet, which he enjoyed. I had the seasonal veggie hash & eggs, which was perfectly seasoned and scrumptious.
Our server was super sweet, friendly and upbeat, but service was glacial. It took forever to get our food, and we ended up having to seek out our check so we could pay and leave.
We would return, but probably just visit the rooftop for drinks in the evening and keep meals to the dining room inside.
Beautiful space with delicious food, creative cocktails, and friendly service.
This was our first visit to the Black Sheep and we enjoyed our Saturday brunch. The space has a fun, modern-industrial feel and is open and airy. The outside seating looked breezy and intimate. Our waiter, Caleb, was friendly and attentive, but not obtrusive.
My husband enjoyed the Hot Pastrami sandwich, which was a generous portion with a lightly dressed salad on the side. I ordered the French Onion Soup (amazing!) and the Beet Salad with added shrimp. The shrimp were cooked and seasoned to perfection.
We will certainly make our way back the next time we are in Jacksonville!
Great place to share good memories with family and friends.
The rooftop bar has great views and excellent cocktails. The food is very good but unfortunately on this occasion our server was terrible.
I give this restaurant a 4.5 out of five. The rooftop view was lovely and our entrees were delicious. I ordered the chicken mousse just to try it and it was awful. I had never had it before and never will again. The Korean beef and Shrimp and grits entrees made up for the snack. I highly recommend trying Blacksheep.
This was my second time at Black Sheep and it didn’t disappoint! Food was great, service was great, and the rooftop patio is awesome.
The drinks and food were impeccable. Our server was attentive and lovely.
We sat on the open rooftop. It’s gorgeous and in a really trendy part of town. Looked very nice outside and we enjoyed the view. The food was decent. I would say its above average in general, but for the money it’s not worth the cost. A dinner for two cost over $100 with drinks, so I would say it’s slightly over priced. My duck was spongy and not very flavorful, and the lamb neck my date had was over seasoned. It’s a good place, but in the future I’ll try something different.
The bar on the rooftop looked awesome. I’d go back for drinks.
business traveler and read reviews online so decided to give it a try. It was excellent! The short ribs were amazing, but you've got to try the fried green olives ( yes fried olives!). Highly recommend Black Sheep
Rooftop is romantic and lovely.
My wife and I, enjoy everything, but the price for the size of the portion.
The dishes were very unique and delicious. Very imaginative and several healthy choices. The food was just as good and perhaps better than many great San Francisco restaurants where I have eaten.
Enjoyed a lovely meal celebrating our son’s 28th birthday. Our server was very attentive. We ordered several appetizers and all were wonderful. Our entrees were all good; everyone was pleased.
Wonderful view, excellent prompt and courteous service, quiet and restful and delicious food. We will definitely be back, as bringing people here for brunch is an all sides win.
Unfortunately, the last two times I have been to Black Sheep I have been disappointed. The service the first time was terrible, but this last time it was very good. My family and I couldn't figure out what the difference was, but it was not the Black Sheep it used to be. The food was just meh and we were crammed into a table between two other tables. We were constantly overhearing all the conversations around us. I never leave bad reviews but this night was not worth the almost $200.
My family went here to celebrate my birthday and had a wonderful time. They had delicious drinks specifically the Dusty Boot for happy hour. We had the poutine for an appetizer and it was amazing. I had the Steak Diane and it was excellent! I also got a free desert and had the banana pudding. Our waitress was the best and gave us great recommendations. Excellent service, ambiance, and food.
We recently moved to Jacksonville and wanted to try a new restaurant. Everything we ordered was delicious and the presentation was perfect. The roof was an excellent spot to be outside and look out at the Jacksonville skyline and river in the distance. We were sitting right by a speaker playing music which was a little distracting - the only reason why I gave it four stars instead of five for ambiance. It definitely is a place where you will spend at least $50 for a couple. However, the portions are large unlike some other restaurants that are pricey with only small portions. But, if you enjoy restaurants that are locally sourced and tell you where their ingredients come from, then you should definitely check this place out. While it might not be an every week place, we will certainly be going back...especially for those fried green tomatoes!
My wife and came to celebrate our two year anniversary. Having been before, we knew the food, service and overall experience would be such that we could enjoy a lovely night out and still feel cocooned. Again, Black Sheep delivered! Every facet of our celebration was wonderful, from the cocktails to appetizers; from Entress to dessert. We will continue to count Black Sheep among the best restaurants in Jacksonville.
Lamb neck was superb!! Love the roof top deck too... will be back
Amazing selection of food. Hard to make a choice. Server was very professional. They even made an off menu dessert for me at my request.
Kids had the seat cousins on the ground jumping all over them. The menus was very small and not a lot of options.
I had a lot of friends rave about Black Sheep, but it am not sure what the hype was. We both bad the salmon, it wasn’t bad but not a lot of flavor.
My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful Saturday night date at the restaurant. We ordered the Poutine appetizer and it was a very good way to start off the meal. Also, he ordered shrimp and grits and I had beef short ribs. Both dishes were delicious and will definitely stay on our list of favorites.
Being a foodie I know what needs to be, server never came back with second glass of wine, it was 20 minutes, I declined
Thoroughly enjoyed the rooftop ambiance at this restaurant. If the sun is out, definitely opt for a shady table, which we were able to receieve. Food and wait staff were spectacular. I would definitely visit again.
Love the rooftop bar, amazing view ❤️
Went to dinner with another couple and we had a great time. Food was amazing and you weren’t rushed to eat and leave. We will be back!
Had a great time sitting outside and enjoying time with my wife
Well done Black Sheep
Our experience was fine til we went onto the rooftop bar to have a drink. I sat down at a table, not knowing it wasn’t an open bar. I was then rudely told to leave by a waitress who completely lacked tact and civility. I’m a lawyer but was once waitress - I know you have to make some tough calls. But this woman has no business interacting with people if she lacks basic civility. My BF and I will not be returning to Blk Shp...I heard rumors of snobbery but didn’t want to believe it as a foodie. Again the food and drinks were great - maybe hire some waitstaff that have better interpersonal skills. Not sure I’ll ever be back; in any event I’ll be sure to spread the story of tonight’s nightmare.
Still my favorite restaurant in Jax, and I’m going to ask for Bri! Anytime I come back, she was amazing for my birthday.
Very good food, drink and service.
My wife, daughter and I have a brunch on Sunday for my wife birthday and she really enjoy it.
I was hoping to have a romantic meal with my husband, but there were really no intimate dining areas. The tables were small and close together. Luckily, we ate relatively early so it wasn't packed yet and there was no one next to us. Otherwise, they would have been so close they would have been having dinner w/ us. I guess this is more of a social place to come and hang out. Definitely, the rooftop bar is that...very nice. We bought a bottle of wine with dinner and took some to the roof with us. The food was really good and I loved the cheese and meat platter with bread that we had with our wine. I would definitely like to try it out for lunch, as the lunch menu looked fantastic. I had the Springer Mountain Farms Chicken and my husband had the Shrimp and Grits. Very good!
I enjoyed my dinner date.....good service ... food was also delicious and I highly recommend this restaurant
This was the first time we have been to this restaurant. Recommended by my Admin. Excellent food, diverse menu, and best of all interesting wine list, excellent.
