My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful Saturday night date at the restaurant. We ordered the Poutine appetizer and it was a very good way to start off the meal. Also, he ordered shrimp and grits and I had beef short ribs. Both dishes were delicious and will definitely stay on our list of favorites.
Being a foodie I know what needs to be, server never came back with second glass of wine, it was 20 minutes, I declined
Thoroughly enjoyed the rooftop ambiance at this restaurant. If the sun is out, definitely opt for a shady table, which we were able to receieve. Food and wait staff were spectacular. I would definitely visit again.
Love the rooftop bar, amazing view ❤️
Went to dinner with another couple and we had a great time. Food was amazing and you weren’t rushed to eat and leave. We will be back!
Had a great time sitting outside and enjoying time with my wife
Well done Black Sheep
Our experience was fine til we went onto the rooftop bar to have a drink. I sat down at a table, not knowing it wasn’t an open bar. I was then rudely told to leave by a waitress who completely lacked tact and civility. I’m a lawyer but was once waitress - I know you have to make some tough calls. But this woman has no business interacting with people if she lacks basic civility. My BF and I will not be returning to Blk Shp...I heard rumors of snobbery but didn’t want to believe it as a foodie. Again the food and drinks were great - maybe hire some waitstaff that have better interpersonal skills. Not sure I’ll ever be back; in any event I’ll be sure to spread the story of tonight’s nightmare.
Still my favorite restaurant in Jax, and I’m going to ask for Bri! Anytime I come back, she was amazing for my birthday.
Very good food, drink and service.
My wife, daughter and I have a brunch on Sunday for my wife birthday and she really enjoy it.
I was hoping to have a romantic meal with my husband, but there were really no intimate dining areas. The tables were small and close together. Luckily, we ate relatively early so it wasn't packed yet and there was no one next to us. Otherwise, they would have been so close they would have been having dinner w/ us. I guess this is more of a social place to come and hang out. Definitely, the rooftop bar is that...very nice. We bought a bottle of wine with dinner and took some to the roof with us. The food was really good and I loved the cheese and meat platter with bread that we had with our wine. I would definitely like to try it out for lunch, as the lunch menu looked fantastic. I had the Springer Mountain Farms Chicken and my husband had the Shrimp and Grits. Very good!
I enjoyed my dinner date.....good service ... food was also delicious and I highly recommend this restaurant
This was the first time we have been to this restaurant. Recommended by my Admin. Excellent food, diverse menu, and best of all interesting wine list, excellent.
The food and atmosphere was wonderful as usual. Hilary was kind, attentive and very knowledgeable. Lovely staff. Always a pleasure.
Love this place almost as much as Bellwether! Delicious with excellent service!
Excellent Meal. Food was delicious and packed with flavor. Some of the menu items are not well described so you'll have to ask. Service was excellent and drink options were endless.
We were visiting Jacksonville for the night and a friend recommended the Black Sheep. Great service, good drinks and the food was excellent! My husband and I split the pork chop and the shrimp and grits. They brought the plates already split. So thoughtful!
My husband and I were meeting his clients for dinner in Jacksonville and we picked Black Sheep after a friend recommended the spot (we are not from the area). It was the perfect combination of a welcoming atmosphere, creative menu and nice spot for a special dinner.
I don't often order chicken when out, since it is a staple in our household, however I ordered the Springer Mountain Farm’s Chicken char-grilled eggplant, artichokes, green tomato, thai green curry because this sounded different, and boy was it! I would honestly say this was one of the best chicken dishes I have ever ordered. The flavor combination was spectacular. The chicken was perfectly cooked - moist on the inside, a bit of a crisp skin, and the thai green curry was spectacular. WOW. We also got the fried green olives to start, which we also loved. My husband got the Crispy Skin Salmon white cannellini-miso puree, fennel, asparagus, ramp salsa verde and he equally was impressed!!!
Next time we are in Jax, we will most certainly rush back!
Great food and service. Loved it. Look forward to a return trip.
Meals and service were great. Desserts are not their thing, creme brulee had to much see salt, brownie with marshmallow was way to hard and tasteless
We were very disappointed with our meal. My steak was ordered rare-it came medium rare, and barely that. My husband’s Korean ribs were not tender and the sauce was overly salty.
The best part of my meal was the Caesar salad, which was outstanding. The server kept repeating items on the menu which were all high carb, even though we told her several times that my husband was diabetic and could not have those. After our meal, she started to recite the dessert menu. Really? How many times did it take to for her to know that he is diabetic. This was embarrassing to him, and not appreciated.
Our meal was over $100.00-we will not return.
I like it. It was good. I like good food. Good food is good in my tummy. Mmm yummy. Yummy tummy good food. Hooray!
We went for a birthday dinner. We had shrimp and grits, Korean short ribs, and a vegetarian eggplant dish. We were all very pleased with our dishes. They were flavorful and well presented. My son said he could have used a larger portion of the shrimp and grits. The hostess, server and another gentleman were very friendly and accommodating. We are excited about our next visit!
Had the Berkshire Porkchop, absolutely amazing!! Black Sheep always impresses!
The food was OK tonight but is it is usually better service was slow
It was good to sit outside on the roof top and the food was great, could have been a little warmer but meal was enjoyable! Our server was great as well! Good vibe!
We were able to dine on the roof top and enjoyed the spectacular view of Jacksonville. Our server was very attentive and the food was delicious. What a delightful experience.
This place was wonderful the food and the service was great I hope to return really soon
We sat at the rooftop! It was an amazing experience all over
I enjoyed the food, service, and the ambiance. Everything was great but nothing compared to my fiancé proposing!
Absolutely an exceptional experience all around, and i'm a hard-to-please foodie. Food is a 10 on 10, drinks, service and rooftop scene an 11.
We started with the Dusty Boot, whiskey sour, which was really good. Really liked the salt & pepper on the rim.
I had the steak Diane but it was not as hot and fresh as it was there previously. The side of fries were good but would have liked to have some more choices. Finished up with the milkshake with tasty Black sheep oreos.
Great ambience and food! We really enjoyed sitting on the patio and can’t wait to check out the rooftop next time. Highly recommend the shrimp & grits and spaghetti all’s chitara!!
The rooftop with the right weather is really fun. The reservations desk team did a very nice job finding a table we liked (shaded). The wines by the glass are OK. The food seems to read like too many restaurants lately. Seeking to be clever, sourced locally, but in the end too similar. Wish there were more simple dish choices cooked to perfection. They get too cute with the fish, and even a little goofy with the shrimp and grits. I ended up with a burger, and it was cooked as requested and good. All in all - good, and we'll be back.
It was a great experience all the way around. Service was exceptional also.
Great experience! recommended for everybody and any occasion.
Totally enjoyable in every way! Black Sheep is a must visit dining venue in Jacksonville.
Perfect place to take anyone for a special occasion or for dinner in general. Beautiful rooftop seating area with city views.
Excellent food, great service, and a cool location.
Our server Bri was very knowledgeable about the menu and every choice we made we were thrilled with. We started with two cheeses from their cheese and meat options. Both were delicious and the presentation was outstanding. The fried green tomatoes were to die for along with the “faux croix” and my boyfriend enjoyed a bourbon and blood orange purée beverage. We got the pork chop and spaghetti with broccoli rabe both delicious and well thought out balance of flavors. Well worth it for a much needed date night out.
Really great appetizers
