Black Rock - Portage - PRIORITY SEATING
Due to our high volume and traffic, we cannot hold tables for parties like a reservation system. We have a system called Priority Seating. This system secures a table within our restaurant, however, it does not guarantee an exact seat by time. Priority is placed on your party, and if we are on a wait, your party is placed on top of the wait list as a priority. We will seat you as fast as possible, but cannot guarantee an exact time. If the restaurant is not busy, we will seat the party upon arrival.

Didn't wait long on food and our waiter was great.
Seated us immediately, even though we were 20 minutes late. Server was great, which can make or break a meal. Six out of six people rates the food as amazing. Clean, modern atmosphere. Pricey, but worth it . Made our 58th bday party dinner a win! Will be back!
Great location great food
First time there for both me and my date. We loved the food and ordered way more than we could eat. The drinks were amazing and the service was excellent. It is pricey but well worth the experience! Strongly recommend the honey mustard chicken salad as an entree and the sweet potato fries as a side 😁

Great quality steak every time that I've been here (at least 10), especially the Kobe options. COVID related spacing is good (every other table sat). Servers are well trained and service is always solid. Great craft beer selection. Only criticisms / recommendations are:
- Host staff are generally pretty curt and sometimes even downright rude. I know they often deal with the worst in people who have waited a long time to be sat, but BR could definitely use some training on this side of the house.
- Wish they could figure out a way to open up the patio again (like when they first opened). Open air dining would be awesome when the weather is right!
- Avoid busy times if you don't like smoke in the air. The HVAC system can't keep up when a lot of people are cooking on 755 deg stones at the same time.
- If you order fries with your meal and like them hot, ask your server to send them out ahead of time. BR fries are awesome, but inevitably come out luke warm if you get them with your meal.
In general, while there are opportunities for improvement, this place is a family favorite. Highly recommend!!!

Service was less than mediocre. The table was asked after 3/6 set-ups were delivered. This AFTER the table requested “extra napkins” when appetizers were delivered.

We were celebrating my girlfriends birthday . We heard such great things and were very excited. I walked to the host stand to check in and I was one of the FEW wearing a mask. I know it’s a tough time but policy and procedures must be followed and that starts at the front door. I let it roll off my shoulder because I wanted to have a good time but that didn’t last long . After our 45 min wait we were seated at the first table when you walk in so we were right next to the front door . The amount of people not wearing masks was unbelievable and the amount of people the host just let hang out at the bar was unreal. It was pretty much a free for all. I work as a manager in the industry and was blown away by the lack of effort and respect that was shown by Black Rock and it’s employees. Food and service was good but I don’t think we will be back . A manager did do a table touch with us but didn’t give us anytime to give feedback. I guess I expected more for the money . Like I said I work in the industry and I understand it’s a tough we are all in but may I suggest cutting down the amount of tables you seat in order to get a hold on things .

Absolutely love black rock. This has been our go to lately. The food is phenomenal! Only downside is, setting priority seating. Don’t expect to eat until an hour / hour and a half PAST the time you set it for. This was the downfall. Waited 1 1/2 hour just to be seated. If the food wasn’t great I definitely would haven’t waited. The wait time needs to be a little better!

Food was delicious but not exceptional. Unique experience cooking your own meal/meat to keep it hot. Overall we enjoyed ourselves but wondering how loud it will be when they have full capacity as it was extremely loud when we were there and only half as much seating due to covid.

Still a great place to have dinner, however; with a limited menu and no BBQ Ribs on the menu limits the desire to go back again when you can go to another steak restaurant were they offer ribs and steak.
