Black Rock - Hagerstown - PRIORITY SEATING
Only problem was having to wait over an Hour to be seated.
New Year’s Eve dinner. Tabitha was a great server. Great chiice for our evening
I chose the 8 oz. filet and my wife the jumbo shrimp. The steak has awesome marbling and was really tender. The experience of cooking your own steak is cool, but will only want to do it once in awhile. Our server was great. My only companies are the place was very cold and even with an advance reservations and early check-in, they did not seat us for over 15 minutes past the reservation and ignored my table type request. I have a bad back and do not do well with high top tables. Note that adding a note that it is your anniversary will have no affect, they did not even congratulate us.
Service was quick and food was great. Our time was for 5pm and we walked right on in.
Black Rock is unique in that they bring you a 750 degree stone to cook your choice of meat on right at your table. The food is fresh,
Priority seating still resulted in a 20 minute wait, with a seat right beside the door, where there was a constant draft... leaving me freezing the entire time. Food portions were not great nor did the come with the pre-warning of having to cook your own meat! Over all 3/5. Wouldn’t go again, but it was an experience.
Excellent food! Everything tasted fresh. Lobster was fresh, not 'fishy' tasting. Steaks were awesome. Our waitress, Vanessa, explained different meal ideas. She was very attentive and nice!
This was my husband and I's first visit, as we just moved to the area. The atmosphere was quiet but still had music playing. The bar drinks were delicious! Our server was amazing and very helpful. We decided to try the Rib Eye steak on the volcanic rock. When I tell you it melted in your mouth, it melted in your mouth! It was a really neat experience!!
Food and service was excellent as always! I ordered a house salad, sirloin steak and asparagus. Everything was fresh and delicious!
Great experience
The steak was melt in your mouth....amazing! Loved the experience of cooking it as we ate. Great salad dressings too. Excellent service.
Very nice place to eat but definitely not for someone on a budget. A great place to go for a treat to yourself, a friends birthday, or business dinners. I recommend as the food and service is excellent and that is what matters the most to me.
Dinner was delicious. Server could have been better, drop my fries on me, dropped the steak on the tray outside of my plate which is disgusting laughed said sorry and put it back on the grill. Focused on my needs and not my boyfriends never asked if he needed anything only me. He is African american and it made us feel some type of way.
The concept is interesting and fun to take clients to. I was Less than satisfied with the quality of service. Extremely poor. The waitress had no clue. She didn’t poor our wine , had no idea who ordered which entree, cleared our food before the entire table was done. When we ordered a huge sundae to share for dessert it was like pulling teeth to get plates and extra spoons. At NYC steakhouse prices you would expect at least quality service. At least when you are cooking your own food you know that that was done correctly
Despite the long wait everything was amazing. The food and service made up for it. Our server was perfect and our food tasted heavenly. Will definitely go back when I am in the area again.
Great job while still being COVID-safe. Juanita is the best!
Can't speak highly enough about our experience! Everyone was very nice, food was fantastic, and it was fun using the rock to cook our own food. Often we go to a steak restaurant and they over cook the steak so it was nice to be in charge of our own meat. Also, the sweet potato fries are to die for!
The experience cooking our meat on a hot lava rock was awesome! The waitress was very attentive, made excellent recommendations, and was very pleasant! We will definitely be visiting again!
Great food, will be a return customer
It was great
Service was lousy, Food very overpriced, quality does not match the price point. Scallops were overcooked and rubbery. Shrimp was poor quality and the cook didn’t bother to devein. My dinner companion ordered a medium-rare steak that came out well done. Very disappointed.
I was excited to get the priory seating for this new restaurant. My friend and I were right on time for our 8:00 seating. Went in to tell them we arrived and we were told by the hostess that it would be a 10 minute wait for out door seating and 20 if we wanted inside. We wanted to sit outside on this beautiful night. We waited 20 minutes, and then checked in again to be sure we were not overlooked because walk ins were being seated. Again at 40 minutes later. This time I was more upset because they originally told us 10 minutes now we have been waiting 45 minutes. The hostess definitely made a mistake. Because she did apologize to me over and over, but there was zero compensation for our inconvenience. This was the first time I used open table - so I am not sure if it was the restaurant or the app. Food was delicious and our server was very efficient and friendly.
This is our favorite place to go on ohr monthly date nights without the kids!!
Very good for a franchise. Was a little upset they were out of a few things on the menu
Our waitress was wonderful. The wait was less than 10 minutes
We really really enjoyed the meal ! Everything we ordered was excellent. Staff was courteous and helpful from start to finish. We will definitely return soon

Interesting concept, Your food is being cooked right at your table, on volcano rock.
First time having dinner here. We had a party of 5 and we all ordered steaks.
Food took a long time and was cold. Manager was very nice and made it right.
Priority seating was easy and we were seated promptly. Our waitress was great and attentive. The food was flavorful and adequately portiined, except for the steaks, which I felt were overpriced for the portions and over salted.
This is not a place to go for a date night. The atmosphere is equivalent to a sport's bar that attempts fine dining. We were initially seated at a high top table (though I requested standard seating online). The table, and chairs, we were seated at was extremely wobbly and we felt placing anything heavier than a plate on it would cause it to fall over. The steak comes out cooking on a stone (as well advertised on their website) however, the meat is not seasoned and was burning by the time it was placed on our table. My dish (salmon and rice) was served over-seasoned with sauce and cold rice (with hot spots), giving the impression and taste that it was microwaved. The floors were also sticky with unswept food on the floor between ours and the patrons seated next to us.
Atmosphere not becoming of the experience...boring! The floors need to be cleaned...slippery as kitchen is near restrooms and maybe the spray from the rock create issues when coming out of the kitchen. Food fantastic!! Loved the unique cooking method. Great quality. Waitress could have been more well versed. We asked several questions that she could not answer.
We really enjoyed our time at Black Rock! It was a great experience. I’m so glad I booked ahead of time because the wait would have been crazy long otherwise. But don’t get me wrong the wait would have been worth it.
Valentine's Day and we walked right into our table. There was no wait at all! Service was quick and food was great!
When arriving at the restaurant we where approached in a very unprofessional way. still had to wait 35 minutes to be seated even there was about a 50 percent of the tables empty. When i approached the hostess to let her know we made priority reservations . it fell on deaf ears. Don't think I will revisit this establishment which is a shame because Hagerstown is in need of a good restaurant. Message to the host staff of Black Rock, if you don't like dealing with customers then there are other jobs. You lost a customer.
Spot lights were a little bright, the tables felt crowded and close together.
Food was excellent. Service was excellent.
Great place but the lack of reservation system makes the lobby very congested unnecessarily.
My daughter had won a writing contest. Her first time there. Had a blast and Diamon, our waitress was top notch. Food was amazing!!!
