Black Rock - Beaver Creek - PRIORITY SEATING
Great Experience, and food was delicious
This is a unique dining experience. You cook your own steak on a lava rock at your table. The sides are very good. The service is very good. The atmosphere is a little Spartan though.
The food was fantastic! However, the wait was long and the service was slow. It feels like they are still figuring things out.
Cooking your own steak at the table isn’t as fun as it sounds
Four of us all went for our first visit! We had a great evening!! Delicious food and great service!
One of my friends said after we had eaten...”Did we have any conversation while we were eating? We were all so busy cooking our steaks”
Actually I am sure we did have conversation, but we were all very involved with our great dinners, we couldn’t remember anyway! Great restaurant...we will be back soon!!!!
Had an open table priority seating that didn’t do us any good. The place was busy so we accepted that. It was too l
We checked in and were told we would receive a text when our table was ready: no sooner than sitting down in the waiting area we were notified our table was ready (7 minutes before we were even scheduled to arrive, so awesome speed!) Our waitress was friendly and explained the menu and made recommendations. Our food arrived in a reasonable amount of time (strawberry apple salad was AMAZING) & our steak meals were beautifully presented- the only negatives of the experience were the mac & cheese came to the table cold (but I put it on the stone and it was delicious), it was a bit loud, and the waitress took a bit long to bring us the bill/pick up to pay so we could leave. Overall a wonderful date night with my husband! We visited on Saturday evening from about 6-720pm.
The problem with Black Rock lies with management. We waited for an hour and 20 minutes for our food to arrive. Drink refills took an hour. Tables around us were never bussed. There were no food runners. Food was not good. Nice concept but restaurant does not know how to execute it. No explanation as how to cook on the rock. No plates to eat on so you are forced to eat on a hot rock. Waitress disappeared and had to hunt down manager to pay the bill, which was another 20 minutes. We weren’t the only disgruntled diners, nobody was happy dining there. Another waitress was complaining about a 14 cent tip. Can’t say I blame the other diners. Hard to justify tipping with poor service. Overall a horrible experience.
Food was delicious. Enjoyed cooking the steak. Server was acceptable, but not ideal for this caliber of restaurant. She was slow to take our order. We had to ask to refill our waters multiple times. She was slow to bring the check and slow to process our payment. She tried to be funny, but just not very friendly in general. Hopefully we will get a different server next time.
No bread served
Floor was extremely slippery when sitting in a chair. Both table and chair slid along greasy floor.
French fries were cold, replacement took too long
1 baked potato was not cooked all the way through
1 baked potato had rot on one end
Had to ask for water
Walked out with grease stains on clothing from the spatter of the steak on the hot rock.
It was a disaster!! We had 6:30 priority seating from OpenTable. Checked-in at 6:20. Inquired at 6:40 and they lost our Name on the list. Nobody in charge among the 3 people at from counter. After another 20 minutes with nobody able to help put us in the queue, we said we're leaving & will never return.
Our party of 6 waited over 50 minutes for our food after ordering, then found out only 5 of the 6 meals were entered into kitchen. Took 15 more minutes for the 6th meal. 3 of the meals were burgers and fries. 2 were cook it yourself steaks. The 3 that ordered burgers asked for ketchup and mayo when the burgers were delivered, then waited 10 minutes for ketchup while our waitress served other tables, while their food got cold. Asked for new fries. Took 10 more minutes. The entire restaurant was smokey, the floor was covered in grease, and 3 of our 6 people got sick in the middle of the night. Terrible service, mediocre food, bad experience, poor management and won't go back. Overall 2 1/2 hours of misery that we will never get back. In the end, they offered the poor guy who git his fish sandwich 65 minutes after ordering 1/2 off his sandwich and manager never came to apologize. Terrible.
Priority seating is great to skip the long wait. The only problem is when the server doesn't pay attention that you requested a table and no high top. Then places you at a high top.
Will not be going back. Over priced steak and burgers that aren’t that good. They tell you the timing on your steak, yet if you don’t eat it quickly it takes longer and longer to cook as the rock cools down. Also, the way it is served makes it hard to slice your steak in the little spot on the side. Burgers were not cooked enough, and we finished cooking ours on the steak rock. Service was lacking and tea was disgusting. The server told us there was just too much ice, but that does not make the tea look cloudy and pale yellow. We had reservations and marked birthday, yet nothing was mentioned and they didn’t even mark our reservation as completed. For being new, we were very underwhelmed, and obviously others feel the same as it was not busy at all.
This was our second experience at a BlackRock, the first was in Michigan and was outstanding, so I chose the BlackRock in Beavercreek as my Birthday restaurant. It was a great as our experience in Michigan.
Such great food and staff.
Just remember to wear non slip shoes, it can be slippery.
The food and service were ok. Our server was better than the first time, but the food not so great...my steak was pretty fatty for a 6oz. The sausage not great either, should've got the jumbo shrimp again. There is no ambiance at this restaurant. The floors were so slick throughout the whole place I nearly fell on my a** 2-3 times just getting to the door.
I will not recommend Open Table, and I probably won't use it again. I don't know why my purchase did not qualify for points, and no, I won't take the time to read the rules on how you can qualify for points...how about keeping your app simple. You make a reservation...you spend a lot of money, ($120 is a lot for most families)...you get points.
The best meal and service we have had in a while . We had Josh as a server , he was phenomenal. We didn’t have to ask for anything . My husband got the steak , which I regretted not getting . It was soo good . We also order the pretzel fondue app, and the spinach artichoke dip ,both were so good . We will def be going back . And with luck will have the same waiter !
We went here as it is new and wanted to check it out. Very happy with the experience. Reasonable wait for a Friday night. Service was excellent. Food was delicious and a great price. Loved the black rock sauce garlic butter! Will be back.
An awesome, unique dining experience. Amazing food and amazing service!! Highly recommend!
We waited an hour before we got our food. The noise level was very loud; to hard to have a conversation.with other people in party. Service was mediocre. Food was awesome.
Food was really good. Service was speedy, but we weren't rushed.
Great food and fantastic service!!
Awesome experience! The steak and burgers are amazing!
First, this is a brand new restaurant to this area that has been open only a month. They have kinks to work out: primarily seating issues, time waiting to be seated, bartending check out issues. Second, the food is AMAZING! Definitely 5 star food rating. The steak melts-in-your-mouth and the prices are pretty good! Next, Priority seating is not really a thing, and is a facade. Waited 80 minutes to be seated with priority seating and early check in. Terrible time management! Also waited 30 minutes at the bar to get my bill straightened out when they gave me someone else's credit card and charged that card for my bill and the other person's tab on my bill. They didn't know how to correct it and it took forever. With that said, once they work out these issues and are open for a bit oh, I will gladly go back and try it again. The food is worth it. Last, it's Beavercreek, not Beaver Creek. That's a tourist town in Colorado.
Good service and good food. Wait was longer than I expected but it turned out fine in the end.
It was crazy busy as.it was Father's Day. Checked in with hostess but hostess forgot to check us in with the others checking in. Food was excellent and so was the service.
Got seated right away, 10 minutes before our reservation time (on Father's Day even). Service was great, lobster bisque and the lobster dip appetizer was delicious, scallops were good, steaks were good but nothing special. Tried the "cook at the table" thing but wouldn't do that again, I would prefer someone else cook it. Overall, liked the place and will go back, just won't go for the steak.
We will be back!
I loved eating at Black Rock. The food and experience was really great. I ordered the 9oz Sirloin. It looked more like a Filet. Cooking on the stone was awesome. I could cook eat piece to my liking and each bit was piping hot. Everything that was ordered at our table was very good. The only negative would be that while dining at one of the larger tables, it is very hard to have a conversation. It is noisy when the restaurant is busy. There is a lot of background noise and the table is quite large. Other than that, no complaints!
The reaervation was a call ahead. I waited 45 min to get seated. They shouldnt be on open table at all. Fire alarms were going off becuae the restaurant was so smokey. No silverware at the table when I sat down. I probabaly wouldnt go back. Its a new restaurant but their reservations are crap.
Great food, over all a great experience despite having to ask our server for things multiple times and the music being so loud that half the table had no clue what our server was saying.
Food amazing. Service the worst I have ever had anywhere. Seating quick
It was date night
The food and service was great but the floors need attention. Your chair slides as you sit and try and eat. Walking is very dangerous especially carrying your drink in heels from the bar to your table.
For the restaurant being new everything was great from the service to the food.
This was our first time at Black Rock. The service was very good! The restaurant itself looks nice, but it’s rather loud being open and with hard surfaces. I tried grilling my own steak. Tasted ok and it’s a novel experience, but beware because you’ll splatter grease on your clothes and it is work to cook the steak. If you want to socialize rather than work, you may not want to do this. Others in our group ate cheeseburgers. They were just ok. Those who ordered the cheeseburgers with fried mozzarella as the “bun,” would not order it again. It’s worth trying once to see what you think.
We had a lovely evening! Such a cool concept. Love the flavors of most of the dishes. We didn’t love the Brussels sprouts. They had so much balsamic sauce that it was soupy and hard to eat.
Also, The waitress apologized because our salads and our meat came out at the same time. She said they were still working out their timing. That definitely made things complicated as there wasn’t enough room on the table and it’s hard to reach over the stone to eat your salad. I do wish we would have had about 10 more minutes in between.
Overall, we had a great experience with a few hiccups. We will definitely go back. I look forward to when the kitchen and wait staff are more in sync and have a little more experience with the delicate timing of this design. Then it will be a truly outstanding experience.
