Black Pearl Ann Arbor Ratings and Reviews
Everything was good, had the tuna tar tar and the crab for appetizers. The fish tacos and the pork chop was great. That whipped sweet potato that came with the pork was amazing. The martinis are good, we recommend the chocolate and the orange martinis. It is dim lit with table lamps so good atmosphere for a date. Staff was friendly and informative of items on the menu. Overall good experience.
The Black Pearl is a consistent "go-to" in the Ann Arbor Main Street scene. Great location, excellent ambiance, excellent food with a nice selection of "specials" on specific days. Service is always outstanding and they have a nice bar with an excellent selection of drinks.
The food and service were outstanding, especially if you like seafood. If you are in the mood for a drink, order one of their excellent cocktails. On the flip side, no beer on tap and somewhat disappointing wine menu. Could use a few more options on dessert too. But, overall the quality of the food make this place a must go in A2.
Fish tacos and cocktails were delicious. Avocado crab toast was extremely disappointing. Pasta Gone Bayou had nice flavor but just seemed like a mildly spicy mac n cheese. Wife was happy with the Cioppino. I will return for drinks and tacos but not much else.
Went once years ago and decided to go for my husband's and I's wedding anniversary because we were craving seafood. The oysters were fresh and delicious and shucked well. The scallops were amazing, cooked to perfection (I've had a few restaurants overcook scallops). We loved our cocktails. Great for a date!
The staff is friendly and willing to accommodate individual tastes. They never let your beverages run dry or even close to dry. Someone is always nearby to help you. The Pinot Gris is one of the best I've tasted. My wife and I each chose a different shrimp appetizer and loved them both - on with buffalo sauce and the other with house-made chips and guacamole. We each had the burger as our entree. The burger was infused with great spices and its out texture and flavor was nicely charred without being overdone. The bun was a brioche with a nice crunch to it. In the past, I've had their coffee-crusted filet mignon and it was exceptional. I've been to this place 5 times now and have never been delighted each time. I've a very selective foodie that arrives with high expectations and this place does not disappoint.
My friends and I have been to Black Pearl for Ann Arbor restaurant week before and really enjoyed it so we thought we would go back. Unfortunately, the restaurant week menu was so disappointing that they chose not to order from it. I did order from and did not enjoy my dinner and wished I too had ordered a burger. I would not go back after this experience
My husband and I had been wanting to go here for a long time. We made use of the Ann Arbor Restaurant week. All the menu items were delicious! I have celiac and my GF options were super tasty too, in fact it's safe to say that my GF entree was better than my husband's pasta :) Will surely go here again!
We love this place — the fish tacos are literally the best ever (and I do mean that literally). The space is super cool, and the big window makes for good people watching.
We went for Alexa’s birthday, and they even brought her a free dessert, which was awesome.
Server Jonathan was excellent. Gave helpful tips for our first-time experience and quite courteous and friendly. Request Jonathan as your server when making reservations. The food (me: the apple-glazed salmon over delicious string beans, her: scallops over a wonderful risotto) was absolutely excellent. Best piece of salmon I've ever had. Wasn't served with tartar sauce and didn't need it, either. The buttered and toasted sourdough bread was also a treat. The lava cake dessert needed some berries to compliment the intense chocolate. Staff service was excellent all the way around. The dry martini was delightful. Highly recommended for great seafood with service to match. Great casual feel to the place but nothing felt "tacky". Classy establishment!
Unhappy with the food and service. Had money added by restaurant staff to credit card after signed for at lower amount. $30 cash tip was “missing” according to the staff. Called and was told to call back because the manager said he was busy. Will not be recommending or returning.
