Black Pearl Ann Arbor Ratings and Reviews
Our waitress was knowledgeable and accommodating; however the secondary bus service and food runners seemed untrained or perhaps ‘high’ on something making it slightly uncomfortable when this person was attempting to clear or to refill water. You weren’t sure if he was going got drop the plates or spill the water. The food however made up for that deficiency. The coconut shrimp appetizer were some of the best coconut shrimp around and the Thai calamari was excellent too. Entrees, seared scallops with risotto and roasted half-chicken, where well crafted - the kale side for the chicken was easily the best kale I have eaten.
Great atmosphere and service. We had a moving target for diners, and the servers did not miss a beat. The restaurant did not know how heavy our day has been, and by the time we left it was all smiles for our party. Thank you for helping us unwind.
This is a fantastic restaurant with thoughtful owners. My favorite aspect of this place is that they grow their own diverse array of microgreens in-house as well as growing various vegetables offsite - very local. Along with the beautiful presentation, they're microgreens salad had huge flavor! On a Monday recently, they donated 10% of their total sales to a local non-profit farm-to-school organization in town! They care about their impact on the people around them. It has an upscale feel with reasonable pricing.
My husband and I celebrated our two-year anniversary here this past week. We both enjoyed a few of the speciality cocktails which were all wonderful. Michael was our server and made the evening for us. He was not intrusive but covered all details on the menu and any questions we had. I enjoyed the coffee rubbed filet & my husband the burger; Both dishes I would highly recommend. We topped the night off with a housemade desert and ice cream. The plate was decorated with "happy anniversary" and was such a special surprise. Thank you Black Pearl & Michael for a great evening. Cheers.
I loved this restaurant. We started with the shrimp guacamole, served with warm homemade chips, delicious. Rather than entrees we decided to try a couple of appetizers instead. We ordered the beef tips, very tasty; then the coconut shrimp, sauce was delicious, wish they gave more shrimp, but as an appetizer, can't complain. The thyme fries were fun and filling.
Overall loved the place. Will definitely go again next time we are in town.
We went for the fish tacos during happy hour at 5 PM. The manager informed us there was no happy hour due to the Ann Arbor Art Fair. He was quite rude! Other restaurants were continuing happy hour during the art fair so in our opinion the manager was taking advantage of the art fair customers. We will not go back.
