If you love 100% natural premium cuts of beef, this steakhouse is the place for you. Our steaks are aged a minimum of 21 days & hand cut daily to maximize flavor & tenderness. We season our steaks with only salt & pepper and grill them at a searing 1800 degrees so you can taste the difference in our all natural beef. If you don't like beef, this is the place for you too. We offer a diverse menu including St Louis Style Ribs; chicken dishes and a variety of tempting fresh fish & seafood entrees. Had dinner with a friend - the steak was delicious. Our server who was very knowledgeable recommended the steak special which was 45 day dry aged Manhattan Medallions . Our server explained the dry aged process to us and how it enhances the steak! We also enjoyed the decor and country music that was played in the background. Highly recommend this restaurant!
Went to Black Hat on a recommendation, while staying in Evergreen for our honeymoon, and could not have been more impressed. Black Hat holds on to that small-town feel of the area, while offering high quality/great tasting dishes and excellent service. The atmosphere was perfect. It felt comfortable and inviting. We will definitely be making a stop at Black Hat on future trips to the area. Ask for Dona!
This is a warm, cozy steakhouse located in the foothills. They serve steaks that are cooked to perfection, are dry aged, and melt in your mouth. The service was spot on, and their old country music playlist was very enjoyable. The chocolate bourbon pecan pie was out of this world. It was a very enjoyable evening. Would highly recommend this restaurant, it is worth the short drive from the city. You won't be disappointed!
As usual a great meal with very good service. The only issue was ordering a bone in rib eye @ "market value". The regular rib eye was $39 but $65 for a bone in version? Next time I'll ask first. It was good but not $65 good. But we will return because they do have the best steaks on the west side of town.
Love the Black Hat, one of the few places I can have charred rare filet done perfect every time. Sides are the best, can't get away from creamed corn and tater tots! Service has always been exceptional, good wines, chocolate pecan pie or bread pudding. A favorite place to eat, special occasion or not.
Warm, homey, rustic feel! Lots of animal heads on the walls. We went to dinner here and liked it. We both wanted a steak and got a good one (not the best though). Black Hat sort of felt like more of a local steak place which was nice and comforting but the food wasn't outstanding. It was a good dinner. Not sure I would go again if I was in the area visiting though. We did however have great service which was refreshing.
Oh man, we're not even "steak people" and we absolutely loved our dinner from The Black Hat Cattle Company. It was absolutely delicious, fairly priced and really close to our cabin for the weekend. We had dinner at Shanahan's a few weeks ago and BHCC blew that dinner out of the water. The only thing you might miss at BHCC is the swanky atmosphere of other steakhouses. We will definitely be going back!
We have been here several times and it was always excellent historically; however, this visit, comparatively speaking, was mediocre at best: 6 oz. filets were surely smaller than 6 oz. and undercooked (tough) to rare rather than medium-rare, side dishes were sparse and so-so, service was OK but not truly attentive, most side dishes and escargot were way too garlicky for our tastes, and prices were very steep for the value we received during this visit. Overall it was a disappointing experience, so it will be awhile before we give the BHCC another chance.
Overall, it was fair but well over priced. Nothing special. Our favorite part was the wedge salad. Our biggest disappointment was that through open table we only had a choice of 4:30 pm or 5:00 pm. We assumed it was booked. It was completely empty at 5 pm and I'm guessing they use open table to fill their early time slots. Would've have enjoyed a 6 pm or later time. We also tasted and sent back a bottle of wine, much to their displeasure. We bought a more expensive bottle in the end but you would've thought we were robbing them by the way the manager came over to rectify the problem. They knew nothing about wine.
Good steaks, but quite under-seasoned. Service was good and friendly, and it is an interesting location with local charm. The prices were as high as you would find in Downtown Denver, but the quality of the food preparation was lacking. For the price, I expected much more.
We have dined at Black Hat before, but never for earlier dining. I have always ordered different steaks before , but this time I order a New York Strip and never have I had so much gristle and fat in a piece of meat in a restaurant of this type. Very disappointing.
Fantastic as always. I had the 6 oz filet, vegetable medley, and onion rings. The red wine special was delicious. For dessert we split the cheesecake. I wish I was having it again right now. We have never been disappointed at this restaurant. It is the best place for steaks anywhere near Evergreen.
Dave Rodriguez and Co. run a remarkable, unforgettable restaurant. We recommend it as better than The Fort. It would be helpful if there was a vegan (no meat, no dairy) option on the menu for families/groups who have a vegan member. The decor is first-class; lots of thought and some significant investment has gone into the selection of decor items--art, art prints, sculpture, western-themed items. Always wonderful to have Dave greeting customers--so few restaurants nowadays have that personal touch. Recommend to everyone who wants to eat really good food in a quiet atmosphere, surrounded by reminders of our western environment. Thanks, Dave!
