About
Our food is both highly creative and very approachable. We create menus based on seasonally available ingredients, much of which are sourced from local farms, distributors, and fishermen. We believe that the best food is grown locally and with respect for the environment, so we've spent the past four years building relationships with farmers and fishermen who fit the bill! We use many organic ingredients, sustainably caught fish and seafood, and pasture raised meats.
Don't waste your money. Food is less than blah compared to the many wonderful restaurants on LBI.
Yet another amazing season at Black Eyed Susans - chef Chris outdoes himself every time, and there's nothing like the wait staff remembering your names or Ashley sitting down to catch up with you at the end of the meal. If there is a special soup, you should always get it.
We have been to Black eyed Susan's before, during the summer and were blown away. Food was fabulous, perfect, spot on. We were a little disappointed this time. We got a reservation the night before the last day of their season and felt it wasn't as good as previous times. Wondering if the end of season had anything to do with it. Celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary and was a little disappointed.
As usual our dining experience was tops, service and food excellent. Would definitely recommend Black Eyed Susan’s for not only every day dining but special occasions as well. Plan ahead, it’s difficult to get reservations 😊
As our first time and hearing personal reviews we were disappointed in the food. The service was ok but the owner was fabulous!!!! The best part was the bread ... the ambiance was great but the food was medioker !
Wonderful spot, great service!!! Beautiful inside. BYOB was my favorite part. However very small portions for the price. Salad was so high priced and literally 8 pieces of lettuce served (Romaine). Pasta meat ragu delicious but serving was about 15 noodles lol. It was a wedding gift and we really enjoyed our night out but wouldn’t rush to return.
One of the absolutely best places to dine on LBI. This was only our second visit and it was simply delicious. Ethan gave us great service! Perfect date night. Loved the homemade Buccatini with crab on top and the scallops! We will be back for sure.
Food is quite good; our second visit. Overpriced for what you get. Would appreciate not having to pay for bread.
Both my husband and I had scallops which were delicious ...the best on LBI. Ashley was very welcoming and answered questions about some of the ingredients in our dish. She even took time to explain how to cook celery root. Since we are LBI residents, we wish the restaurant was open year round.
It's always a special occasion to go to Black Eyed Susans. I go only twice a year: in summer when I'm visiting my daughter and again I drive down in October before end of season. It is my favorite
restaurant for all of the reasons which I listed above. I only wish I lived closer.
Snooty staff. They act like you should be thrilled to be there. Restaurant was extremely warm.
Really good food presented simply but with great care. Everything we had was delicious and beautiful. A great meal!
Perfect as always! Food is fresh creative and delicious!
Atmosphere is comfortable , stylish and relaxing
Black Eyed Susans is every bit as good (if not better ) than a 5 Star NYC restaurant
We are so happy to have this gem in our neighborhood
Be sure to try our favs: fois gras, seafood sampler, and gnocchi with lobster and broccoli rabe!
Yummy!
This BYOB is a must place to eat on LBI - the food is amazing, the bread is worth the money because you get to take the rest of the loaf home and the service was perfect.
Consistently excellent. Great ambiance and the best food on LBI.
Misses every mark
In my opinion, LBI's best restaurant!
The prices are a bit high (NYC Prices) but the food & service is outstanding!
First time there and would highly recommend trying this restaurant not a bad thing to say food delicious service great!!
As a seasonal resident of LBI, it takes a lot for me to choose to go out to dinner. But for the past several years, I have heard quite a lot about Black Eyed Susan's and finally got around to making a "hard to get" reservation. I was pleasantly surprised by the ambiance, the service and the food. I will absolutely return for dinner next season, maybe even go twice! Thank you for a wonderful end of season treat!
We once again celebrated our anniversary at Black Eyed Susan’s on Sunday evening. We ordered several appetizers and an entree. The bibb lettuce salad and tuna poke appetizers were good, and the duck confit was very good. The lamb chop entree was delicious - cooked to perfection. The Boardwalk Sundae was a good finish to a wonderful meal.
This is our favorite restaurant on LBI and make sure to book reservations before our yearly trip. Food is outstanding!
This is our third visit to this restaurant and it did not disappoint. The food is excellent and the service is the same. Interesting dishes to try. Don't miss this one!
The food at Black Eyed Susans is as fresh and delicious as it can be . We started with soup , i had the smoked mussels and clam chowder and my wife had the Gazpacho . Both soups were outstanding and prepared with fresh ingredients . We shared the chilled seafood salad for our second corse . Salad is big enough to share and was perfectly seasoned with olive oil , lemons and fresh herbs . For entrees try the Tile fish or the Scallops , both dishes were cooked to perfection . Add first class service and you get a marvelous dining experience .
Every part of the meal was superb. I recommend this restaurant.
We go here every year for our anniversary. The food, service, and atmosphere are amazing. I have a hard time ordering anything, but the Cacio e Pepe because it is so delicious. It brings tears to my eyes. We have never had anything bad here.
The tomato salad was the best I ever had. The tile fish was cooked to perfection. My husband had the homemade caccio y pepe -outrageous!
Great food & service.
Clean eating. Fresh ingredients!!
Sourdough bread sooo good just wish it was warmed!!
Arguably the best restaurant on Long Beach Island. The atmosphere is comfortable with reliably good food and service. Menu is always a nice mix of seasons best with a few standby local favorites like the lobster gnocchi.
Excellent food, creative options, comfortable atmosphere. Servers are friendly and helpful. One of my favorite places to eat.
My wife and I go to Black Eyed Susans as often as possible during our vacation. Hands down the best dining experience on LBI.
Love the place. They could use to vary the vegetarian option as we went twice and both time it was the same. The food is excellent!!!!
Great meal
This is a gem of a place. Great food and great service always!!!
Love this place. Beautiful setting, gorgeous flowers, funny and nice wait staff, terrific owners and fabulous food—the best on LBI.
Great service and wonderful food. The ambiance of the restaurant is fantastic.
Very creative and delicious preparations of tile fish, scallops, mussels, fresh Jersey tomatoes, and home made sour dough bread. Excellent service and knowledge from our waiter. Will def be back next time we are on the Island!
One of the better restaurants in LBI...solid menu. BYOB...
The creativity of the menu and the quality of the preparation of the food was matched by the professionalism of the service. Bravo!
Excellent service, we’ve had Laura as a server twice this season and she is attentive and Knowledgeable. The support staff, owner, chef and food make this our favorite dinner spot on the entire Island. Excellent food at 2X the price!! ( but glad it’s not !) The porch table amongst the flowers is my favorite!
Food and service were outstanding! Everything was delicious. The sourdough bread and tomato appetizer were mouthwatering! The bucatini pasta was was perfect!
