Though my Open Table reservations could not be located, they were able to seat us rather quickly. Food was delicious and the live band was a pretty good vibe.
I haven't had a bad experience here yet and I've been coming off & on for over 3 years
Very disappointing experience after planning itinerary in advance while traveling through Hartford. Manager was apologetic and accommodating.
No review needed. This spot is tied for 1st on our Top 5 in Connecticut list for great family spots to eat.
I recently stumbled upon your little gem of a restaurant while working at the Convention Center a few weeks back. Since then, I have brought my family in and we all absolutely LOVE your establishment. We've been by 3 times in a month already. Great atmosphere, family friendly, and the food is amazing. We are Floridians and we have yet to come across true southern BBQ or Sole Food in CT. You are the first location to provide us with the back home feeling. CT has no clue what real southern food is. You guys have it nailed down. Only cons is that you have to be picky about the parking areas due to costs and lastly the tea is close but no cigar to true sweet tea. Either way, you have won my family over and we will be back way more than you could imagine. Thanks to the Black Eyed Sally's crew!
All of my picky kids loved their food, talk about quite the accomplishment!
Food was great and came out in a timely manner, thanks to our awesome server. Happened to be band night and they were amazing. Couldn’t have chosen a better place.
Went to see legendary blues performer Popa Chubby. He was awesome.
Hadn't been to Blackeyed Sallys in a while and was surprised how awesome the ribs were.
Get to black eyed Sally's about once a year usually with a date and have a great time this was no exception... The music and the karma in this place is always good which is important
Excellent food, great gumbo. Always great to hear Monday night jazz.
Disappointed! Having been a regular patron on Blackeyed Sally's for over 20 years, I was looking forward to our Easter Brunch, but it fell horribly short of my expectations. My five year old daughter & I arrived at 12:45pm for a 1pm reservation, the restaurant wasn't very crowded. Additional dining companions, also previous diners arrived at 1 and we ordered soon thereafter. At 2pm we had only received cornbread & drinks. Our server came over 3 times within that hour to bring drinks & cornbread. At 2pm, I asked another server about our order, she said she'd find our server to check on our food. My daughter was irritable & hungry, our server came over and blamed the delay on the kitchen staff & the brunch menu. As a former Blackeyed Sally's fan, I didn't notice anything unusual about the menu, it was their standard dinner/brunch offerings. At approx 2:15, our meal came out, it was luke warm at best, we ate it as we were all hungry. We ate and to our surprise a TIP was included. Being charged for poor service made me livid, but in the spirit of the grace of Easter, we paid the unfair bill and left.
I really hope this was a one off situation, but I'm reluctant to return next month for my birthday or Mother's Day.
Service was very slow. It took about and hour and 15 minutes to get our food. The food was not prepared as we requested. We sent three order back. One of our drink orders was wrong. The best part was the entertainment. We won’t be back.
This was our first time, and we loved it. The vibe was great, the band was great, and the food was great. My wife and I enjoyed it very much.
The service was good, the server lady was very, very nice. The live band was excellent,
I would like to see them again.
Loved the food and drinks. The staff was very nice and the music was just right.
Great Everything! The food, the servers, and especially the music was fabulous. We felt very welcomed and enjoyed it all.
We are “blues followers” and Dennis and Nick were amazing! We always love the food at Sally’s and our waitress, Carolyn, was wonderful!
This place has consistently great service and food with a fun vibe.
We were at Black-Eyed Sallys on the evening of St Patricks day 2018. There was a blues band starting just after we sat down. The place was close to capacity as it relates to seating. The first thing you'll notice is the wonderful scent emanating from the restaurant. If I could bottle it, I definitely would. The pulled pork was fantastic, the buttermilk fried chicken was amazing and the fresh cornbread was a real treat. Don't forget the red beans and rice, delicious. The beer selection was above average for the area. The walls are covered in murals and other artwork, along with a million signatures of the band members whom have graced their small stage at one point or another. It has a great vibe. The staff was attentive, even though the place was very busy. I'd recommend to anyone. Just be advised, it's a music venue as well. If you want a quiet dinner night, choose a night with no music or just give up on the quiet part and go enjoy the joint!
My son and few of his friends were home from college and wanted to see some live music (Bruce Katz Band) and have something different for dinner. We were not disappointed. The band was very good. Food was well presented. Wait staff was attentive and provided prompt service. Good crowd of people having fun. We will return. Thank you!
Local beer, a tasty pulled pork sandwich, top-notch blues and attentive service. One of my favorite Hartford night spots.
Amazing as usual! brought a new set of friends from Philadelphia Pennsylvania up and took them here because I've had nothing but great experiences at this restaurant. we all ordered something different and snacked off of each other's plates. we even tried desert this time. I was so happy we came here it was the perfect start to Our Night Out. Our server Veronica was amazing, friendly, fast and very polite!
We recently discovered Black-Eyed Sally's, and it's excellent. The people who work there are very friendly and attentive. The food is very carefully prepared, and the chef clearly knows spice.
Great food! Lovely atmosphere. The restaurant was a little too cool (temperature wise). But overall, a great experience, and the wait staff were really nice people!
Carrie is awesome! Food is great but the service is what keeps us coming back. Thank you.
Excellent food, great band. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was a night out with old friends, the timing of drinks, appetizers, then dinner were perfect!
This restaurant is a jewel in Hartford. Great live jazz, easily accessible to Fastrak for people coming into the city. Superb dining environment. Great service! Blacken catfish was the absolute best I've ever had. Mounds of food with delicious sides. Appetizers were incredible! Pecan pie was just delightful! It is an extraordinary dining experience.
Great food, great service, and great music. It doesn’t get much better. I will definitely be back the next time I’m in town.
Carrie is awesome and the owner couldn't be more friendly and helpful. Love the food and great music they play. Even when no band is playing lol
Awesome Jambalaya, wife loved the Pulled Pork Sandwich. Drinks were first class. Good service. Busy on a Tuesday evening.
Service slow, but not pushy. That's what we wanted. Great band, Say Yeah.
We were a group of 4 and seating was prompt and near stage table given. Nevertheless the service was slow at first and during the whole night the same ( stayed more than 4 hours). Live music was pretty good. We only ate wings and were good.
We love BES but were extremely disappointed that at 7:45 they were already out of BBQ ribs, brisket and fried green tomatoes. These are staples at BES, so not sure what happened. I went with my third choice, BBQ pulled pork dinner, which was delicious.
Service was awful and it was not any busier than usual. Server took our order, delivered bread and drinks and then did not come back for the 45 minutes it took to get our food delivered. In fact, when she went by the table she made quick eye contact with me and quickly looked away. No apology for delay, no offer to bring more bread, no asking if we wanted drink refills. Additionally, my wife’s chicken was dry and my dessert came with a piece of cellophane cut into it with the knife.
If you like bbq & live music. This is a great place!
Great atmosphere! Wish you had more comfy seats though :-)
Quick dinner before a show at the Bushnell. Easy and relatively quick service. We ordered pickles/okra. They were okay. Shrimp Jambalaya and Shrimp ‘n Grits for entrees. Shrimp and sauce was good but grits were very stiff and not very hot. Jambalaya was okay.
Lunchtime there is great. Food is great and the service is exceptional!!
We went on this occasion for the mardi gras buffet. The number of options won't blow you away, but they were all quality. From the mac n cheese to the incredible fried chicken. The catfish, jambalaya and gumbo were also excellent. Staff was very festive and attentive.
great food, great music. Loud and Clear performance! fun
This was my first time here. I will definitely return but now I know I need to be more forceful when checking in. We had reservations and they did not seem to matter. It appeared like the hostesses would seat whoever they chose in no fair or objective order. We waited 30 minutes, were ignored, and had to ask four times when we would be seated. This was with reservations. Whereas people walking in off the street with no reservations were seated right away.
Pretty poor food, but a nice enough place and decent service.
Better barbecue, by far, to be had in Southington at Smokin with Chris.
My husband and I had dinner on Friday 2/02/18, it was our first time and it was great. Our waitress was amazing and the food was spectacular. I will definitely be attending again in the near future
