    I had the boneless ribeye steak. Cooked to perfection with cream spinach and squash. Enjoyed the Belgian Chocolate Moose and Port Wine. Service was excellent! Noise from other patrons seemed like a screaming match. Very difficult to converse at our own table without joining in. Host should think about sound absorbing tiles. Prices made an extravagant outing. But worth it for the food if the noise could be reduced. Wish all at the restaurant all the best.

    Black Cow Chophouse is phenomenal! The selection of meat cuts (I had the bavette which I highly recommend), sauces, sides- incredibly delicious and made on site! Sitting outdoors was pleasant except for the roar of emergency responder vehicles racing up West Main Street three times, but otherwise, perfect.

    My fiance and I have gone here for all of our date nights and it's our favorite spot in Charlottesville! Everytime he's about to leave for sea or come home from sea we head to Black Cow. Definitely worth it and I can't wait to go back!

    This was an excellent choice for a birthday dinner with friends and family. We took advantage of the Happy Hour menu and were very impressed with the quality and value of everything we had. The steak frites special was a great cut and well portioned. The sides were more than enough to share and were all cooked to perfection! The cocktails and dessert were yummy, the flourless chocolate torte was amazing! Looking forward to my next visit!

    The first time I went to Blackcow, I had a wonderful experience with service and food This time, however, the service was very slow; the steak was bad: lots of gristle and not savory. I was disappointed.

    Really superb meal...my tartare was wonderful and my wife's caprese salad was visually stunning and yummy. Not a cheap date, but worth it when you're ready for a top notch meal.

    This place never disappoints! This was our 4th time and it just keeps getting better. Charlottesville is full of amazing restaurants and this is one of the best! Enjoyed filets, prime margaritas, red smashed potatoes w/chimichurri, brussels & finished off w/decadent chocolate mousse-black Sea salt & raspberry coulis. Yum!!

    All six of us were delighted from start to finish - including appetisers, mains,sides and deserts. Steaks were the best we’d had in ages. Brussel sprouts and lobster macaroni went down a treat

    The staff are so welcoming. The food is perfection, the drinks delectable. This is by far the best dining experience we have ever had in the USA. WE LOVE THIS PLACE - THE STAFF CARE ABOUT FOOD AND ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS!

    From the moment my wife and I walked in the door, we knew it was going to be a special night. We had just moved to the Charlottesville, VA, area and went out to celebrate. The young lady that greeted us at the door was simply wonderful. Her pleasant smile and attitude were warming to our hearts. She took us to a wonderful table and she spent time chatting with us. This was so over-the-top nice. It just made the start of our night perfect. Our server was also very kind. She welcomed us to the area and informed us of the menu. She personally stuffed blue cheese olives for my martini. She could not have been more accommodating. And to further the experience, the food was awesome. The shrimp cocktail appetizer was cooked perfect. The tuna tartare was incredible. But, the main event were the steaks. How absolutely tender and delicious. The bone-in ribeye and the filet mignon were to perfection. Cooked to an exact medium-rare and full of flavor. No corners cut in this department. We ended our evening with dessert and a glass of port. Black Cow Chophouse outdid themselves in everyway in welcoming us to our new home in Charlottesville and we couldn't be more proud to be here. As we are true steak connoisseurs, this will definitely be a home favorite.

    Food was incredible and I thought amazing value for all we ordered! Thoughtful service that helped and prompt delivery of appetizers and salad but a good pace for the entrees, which was needed! My only complaint is we sat on the booth high top side and the chairs were not comfortable whatsoever. It’s a loud space and the high top chairs with minimal support were rough. But the food ans service were amazing and I’d simply request a full booth next time!

    Service and food was outstanding. Outside seating that allows large, loud out-of-control incessant barking was horrific. For the price point of this restaurant, I would have expected to be able to enjoy my meal. This was definitely not the case.

    Our server Julie B was amazing. She knew the menu and the wine list inside and out and answered all my questions and gave great recommendations. Her service was on par with high end white table cloth restaurants. Our table was ready when we got there on a busy Saturday night. The restaurant is set up well and not loud, even with the open kitchen and dining area. Loved watching the chefs cook over open flame, and truly looked like they were having a great time and happy to be there. Food was good and came out promptly. We both had ribeyes and the fat was rendered perfectly. Creamed spinach was delicious with lots of depth of flavor. Fries were great. Sauces were great. Incredible drink menu. Pricing is on point for the quality of the experience. A truly needed addition to Cville.

    The food and the service were outstanding. However, the seating was very uncomfortable and the tables much too close together. Cement floors and tiled walls made the noisy environment even worse (after all it is in an old gas station). Black Cow really has great food but they need to improve the environment for dining, especially at these price points.

    Great food. Great service. The temperature inside was a little too warm for my liking but it was a very hot day outside (99) so I'm guessing everyone's AC was having trouble keeping up.
