Great option for business lunch! Delicious food, great service and central location.
Was excited about the chance to eat at Black Barn. Had read good reviews, liked the pictures and menu, and the location seemed great. However was really disappointed by a combinations of things including the service, food, and price paid. Service was not anything interesting - gentleman seemed in a rush and not interested in giving his recommendation. Food was very disappointing from start to finish (charcuterie board was weak, other main dishes were so so). The price paid was $90/person with only one drink and app/person. I know it's New York, but this felt excessive given the quality of food.
I was in town and took my daughter and niece to dinner. I wanted something that wasn’t Italian or chop house. I’m liked the Barn idea so I made the reservation. It was better then I would have expected and really enjoyed it and the interior.
Butternut squash ravioli was amazing. Food presentation was great. Highly recommend.
Amazing food and atmosphere. Service was good but could of been better
Utterly disappointed in everything we ordered and we tried a lot f dishes amongst 6 people. Best thing on the menu was dessert.
Ordered the grilled octopus app. it came with one small pulpo. Apps are meant to be shared, so the portion was inadequate. Very good none the less. Scallop entree consisted of 3 scallops, again portion size an issue. Filet mignon entree delish size expected. I really enjoyed the sunchokes. Waiter was hard to hear spoke too fast and way too low.
Service was perfect, food was delicious and beautifully presented, and ambience was tasteful
It was a great location for a nice brunch with not only my children but also elder relatives who were in town visiting. Great service and ambiance and food.
An amazing late night happy hour. Get the meatballs. Get the wings. Get a seafood tower.
One of the best dining experiences we've had in a long time. Excellent service; attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. The Big Eye Tuna had a nice "kick" to it, the truffle gnocchi was amazing just to name a few.
Overall good experience however chef should ease up on the salt and let the food and other seasonings come through ..had the branzino which was cooked perfectly but too much salt (may be perfect for others as we don't cook with a lot of salt)
Fantastic food , great wine list and wonderful staff.
Excellent food, service and ambience - I had the Restaurant Week menu and it was generous in terms of choice, especially for Restaurant Week. I went early, at 11:30am, and had a relatively quiet dining experience, but the tables were all full and the lobby was full of awaiting diners by 12:30pm.
The food was DELICIOUS. Can’t wait to go back for tuna sliders and cinnamon donuts and perhaps try another dish!
The atmosphere was very comfortable and the food was incredible. Everything was fresh and flavorful and cooked beautifully. A very rustic vibe for environment and farm to table food. Highly recommend and I will be going again!
Great space and awesome menu. Quality food. Will be back.
Got sick off raviolo... bar food was better
Never had a bad meal here! One of my favorite brunch spots in NYC.
Fun, interesting cuisine and architecture in the hot Washington Square area! hard to get a reservation late so plan ahead!
We enjoyed it very much. This was my second visit and it did not disappoint. We went early. And the nose level was fine. As we left about 8:00 it was very busy and much louder. Food great. Service very good.
Black Barn was amazing! Our waitress was wonderful and always checked in on how we were doing. The atmosphere was perfect and the barn décor added a nice touch. Food was to die for - would definitely go again!
Great food, lively atmosphere; the cauliflower steak was a pleasant surprise. Great choices for sharing; was not impressed with the overpriced wines by the glass
Walking into a restaurant, you really feel like you’re in a barn with high ceilings and amazing wood tables. The farm to table meal was delicious and well-plated! I look forward to coming back again!
This place is WAY too big and noisy for conversation. I won't go there again.
Everything was good for us. Like.. Good foods, comfy mood :) perfect
A wonderful experience. Will definitely go back. Gem of a place in the heart of the city.
When you spend 660 dollars betw 4 before tip. It would be nice to get maybe a complimentary drink. If that was my place I would make sure to leave a lasting impression with the customer
Very loud and that detracted from the ambience and food enjoyment. I had to yell to be heard by my boyfriend across the table.
We were visiting with friends while in NYC
Wild boar raviolo was out of this world. Mushroom toast was disappointing. Had trouble finding a wine I liked but ultimately did. You can only put in an order in full; you can’t put in an appetizer first then the meal, which I found odd given that I made the app request as soon as the waiter came to take our drink order. So it wouldn’t have delayed anything. Not was the restaurant crowded so it wouldn’t have held up forthcoming dinner guests. Otherwise it was great.
I totally loved it...great food and ambiance. Each portion was enormous but all 4 of us managed to finish every morsel....really, really delicious. Staff was well informed, helpful and friendly without being intrusive in any way. Only complaint was that it was too loud for some of our party but we loved it!!! A fun evening and can hardly wait to return!!
Good brunch food and service - fun atmosphere. Music was a little loud, but not overwhelming. The music selection was very fun for brunch.
The service at our brunch today was poor and unacceptable for the price point. The hostess was arrogant, dismissive and incredibly unwelcoming when checking us in. The waiter was aloof, passive and disinterested in our presence. For the prices at brunch, our food was totally uninspired and lacking in flavor. I had come for drinks and dinner a few weeks ago and enjoyed the energetic atmosphere, but the service during that visit was unremarkable. Today's visit seals the deal: we will never come back or recommend this spot until others expressly confirm that service has improved.
Management -- please take notice.
Everything was excellent! Great atmosphere, great service, and GREAT food. Our server, Esteban C., was very attentive and recommended an amazing dish. Easy 5/5 review.
Appetizers were the Kale salad and the White pizza - both very good. The Entrees were the tuna, the boar's ragu raviolo and the filet mignon. All were very good, but the winner was the raviolo - excellent. Good bottle wine selections too. I asked the waiter to substitute the mac and cheese side on the $58 dollar filet entree with fries (since they were going by me and I saw they had them) but he said no. That was a surprise, and something I would not expect from a restaurant of this caliber. Also, he did not bother to even ask anyone whether it could be done. We had two expensive bottles of wine, and racked up quite a big bill, so, that gives me pause when i think of returning to this restaurant.
Extremely disappointed, especially after having read good reviews about this place. The scallops were too salty and the chicken was sub-par. Had two bites of the chicken and sent the rest back. Our server was too daft to even inquire whether anything was wrong with the food given we had barely eaten any of it.
It’s great that the front of the house is lively and fun while the back is quiet. Service was a little rushed but I guess to be expected on a Friday night. I like to at least have the illusion that you’re not counting the minutes until I leave and you can turn the table. Food was solidly good.
It was great, specially the hospiality. My first dish with the Tortilini and Truffle was insane.
Great food, service, and ambiance.
