Private dining at any scale. Black Barn can accommodate events from up to 300 guests.
View Private Dining DetailsFood and Service was incredible Highly recommend to anyone traveling in for Business or Personal.
I booked our Brunch 4 weeks prior having reviewed the menu. When we arrived and sat down we found that the menu had changed 2 weeks prior to a $45 prix fixe brunch with a choice of bottomless bloody Marys or mimosas or a desert bar. There was no option of ordering ala carte.
My partner doesn’t drink nor eat sweets so we were forced to pay for something we could not enjoy.
Given that we had made a reservation 4 weeks prior, I would’ve expected them to reach out to us to tell us about the menu change. We would have cancelled our reservation. This is clearly an attempt by management to increase their profits and until the menu changes we will not consider returning. This is a poor value for brunch and I do not recommend.
Such a yummy and cute spot in NYC. I love the vibe, although it is a little bit of an older crowd. Felt a little pressured to order quickly and waiter did not explain that in order to receive charcuterie board, the entire meal would have to be placed. Aside from a few hiccups, highly suggest, and simply delicious.
I arrived early for my mother's birthday celebration. I asked if they could do something special for her, and they said they would. Instead, we ended up waiting for almost 20 minutes for our table and another half hour before anyone greeted us.
We got there early, 20 minutes before our reservation and was told to wait a few minutes for seating.
For the next 40 minutes, every single person who walked in after us got seated!!! We went back to the hostess twice to ask about our seating and they asked again for our name and scrolled through the screen twice!
After my boyfriend asked to speak to the manager, we finally got seated 5 minutes after.
We had the price fix, we saw everybody got served with the muffins and finally asked our waiter once our main course came where ours were?
Then, we were charged for coffees when it was included in the price fix menu!!!!
My boyfriend owns a restaurant and we have never experienced anything like this!
We will never go back there again!!
We had a great time, food, service and ambiance were great
Fabulous experience, the menu is very inventive, everything was perfect!
The food was phenomenal and I enjoy supporting businesses that support local producers
Great food, easy to share plates. Calming environment.
Easter brunch
Great spot. Better expectations which were high
The ambiance was nice but it was extremely over priced and the food was average.
My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal at your restaurant! Not only was the food excellent, the serving staff was engaging, well trained and passionate about their jobs.
My only recommendation would be to train staff to never mix wine (even though the same Sancerre - ordered 2 bottles). One should always wait until the first bottle is finished and the glasses are empty before pouring into the same glass again. Best practise is to replace the glasses;)
The waitress was great and overall very attentive. I was pleased to find out they could cook with my dairy allergy in mind. Great experience!
It was terrible. I don’t even know why we bothered booking a reservation. Our party got there on time and early and we were forced to sit at a six top vs our reserved four top. I don’t know if the mistake was function of this application or the fact that it was just terrible restaurant either way the situation needs to be fixed for the amount of money Black Barn charges on dining. It is completely unacceptable. Also the attentiveness of the waiter was below sub par, the bus boy visited our table more often. The only reason this establishment exists is because of its conscience to the Credit Suisse head quarters. I won’t ever go there again and in fact negatively impacted my user experience on open table.
This was such a great spot that I have overlooked. The food was delicious, and the staff was so great. I could easily eat those scallops everyday, they were cooked perfectly! I saw they had a happy hour from 4-6 with $1 oysters, I will definitely go back for that.
I have been to this restaurant quite a few times now.
I wasn't particularly happy this time.
I had a drink at the bar whilst waiting for my friend & the bartender picked the most expensive wine for me. Also when i asked if i could transfer the check to the table, i was told, Not Really, it's a separate pool. i know how to tip so i don't know why i was told this.
One of my friend ordered a eggs Benedict & received Salmon instead of ham. He didn't want to complain so he just ate it.
He also asked if he could have no potatoes & salad instead. he was told he would have to order a salad. that never came & he received potatoes also.
It was a shame as i have generally had good experiences at this restaurant.
Our first time at Black Bear was for Sunday brunch and we were pleasantly surprised. The food was very tasty and nicely presented and the menu offered many choices, although anything beyond the basic dish was extra. Our waiter misadvised on the bloody marys, which he told us were not overly spicy but definitely were (we were credited for them).
Overall, a pleasant dining experience, which we would definitely return to and recommend, notwithstanding that until our entire party of 4 was present, they would not seat us, at a time when the restaurant was still not close to being filled.
Lovely dinner with an easy going atmosphere. Waiter was attentive without being intrusive.
I've been a few times and the food is delicious and healthy. The space and ambiance is a casual farm to table feel and the dining area is extraordinarily spacious for NYC standards. Love it!
Second time here and absolutely loved our meal! This place is really incredible .... can’t wait to go back!
The service was terrible
Awesome dinner and atmosphere. Excellent service from entire staff
Excellent food, good service . Would recommend .
Great place!!! Can’t wait to go back :)
Really above and beyond quality service. Our waiter was excellent and attentive despite having to oversee about four tables at once. The chicken and waffles were elevated to fine dining status with the vermont maple butter sauce it came with and a clever side of kale and butternut squash salad. The $36 champagne deal is such good value. We stayed until closing and enjoyed every moment.
Excellent food and service! I would highly recommend!
Mediocre food for b&t finance bros and their hoes. Room is cute. Acoustics are terrible.
While the food was good - the service was atrocious. Our waiter never came around to clear our starters (we had to flag someone down for that), and never told us that our food had been delayed (I think he forgot as other tables had theirs arrive and ordered after the four of us did). He then took 20 minutes to bring our bill and return the card - really disappointed.
Excellent service et qualité de plats hors du commun.
Excellent (but not overly attentive) service, surprisingly generous portions, nuance of flavors in each dish (especially the tuna), and the heavy pour on glasses of wine was much appreciated. I recommend the cauliflower as a filling veg option. Well worth the price - upscale but not stuffy. The space is large, so tables are not cramped. Will return.
The food, drinks and atmosphere were great! Our server seemed very disengaged and apathetic as if she was doing us a favor by waiting on us. She initially rattled off some specials or something, then promptly walked away before I could tell her I only heard about two words she said. My cocktail, that I knew was incorrect by appearance as the server put it on the table, was missing the key ingredient, Grand Marnier; but the server insisted that it definitely had the GM in it. I asked her to bring a small shot to add to my drink. Instead of bringing it back, she wandered around checking on other tables, going to the kitchen, etc. and never brought it back. Another waiter who knew a guest at our table stopped by to check on us and immediately corrected the drinks. As a result, I did not have the correct drink for at least 15 minutes. Also, although I indicated that we were celebrating a special occasion when I booked my Open Table reservation, at no time did our server or a manager acknowledge this by offering congratulations or greetings. I would return to Black Barn again based on the food and atmosphere, in hopes that the service was only a fluke.
This is such a fun place! Happy hour is a blast and the food is inventive without being precious.
Love the vibe and the rooms. First time there for brunch and the food was amazing and their was live music, too, which was so great!
Will be back for brunch! And Happy Hour, too!
The food and ambiance is lovely, as always (I am a many time over repeat diner) but I was dismayed at the service and won’t be going back.
I came with my one year old and asked to put in an order for a couple items right away before the others in our group had decided, so I could get her food in front of her ASAP. I was told that the kitchen/computer/ticketing system wouldn’t allow for multiple orders. I pressed the waitress and eventually a manager came over and reiterated this same message. It’s worth noting that at a previous visit, they accommodated this request, no problem.
It’s absolutely absurd, considering drink and appetizer orders go in ahead of time all the time at restaurants. Seems disgraceful to not allow for a two-stage order to get a child fed.
Sadly, I won’t be returning.
Service was not good - everything else was good!
I did find a piece of plastic in my food though....
Staff and chef was amazing!!!! Great food and drinks
Service was absolutely awful.
Great waitress. Good bread. Cold food.
Consistently outstanding
I was early for my reservation so I sat down at a table in the bar while waiting for my friend to arrive. I waited for someone to come take my drink order. After about 10 minutes I went to the bar and bought a glass of wine and returned to the table. A minute later the hostess came by and told me I could not sit there because I had not ordered from the table. Then she banished me to a barstool at the charcuterie bar to wait while the table sat empty. Beyond annoying! The experience pretty much ruined my evening. I know this restaurant is better than this.
