Black & Tan Grille
Good food, great service. Will go again
We arrived early for our reservation, waited several minutes for someone to show up at the maitre d’ stand then told to check back in occasionally to see if a table was available. We went into the bar to get a cocktail - there was no server in the bar area and had to wait 15 minutes to get a drink as the bar tender had to wash glasses first. Couldn’t find anyone to check back in with after another half an hour, so left. It looked like a nice place, however the service was majority lacking.
SLOOOOWWWWW SERVICE! 3 HOURS for a very small dinner. Messed up 4 cocktails! Frustrating and getting tired waiting on food and water refills. Food was flavorful but not worth the wait.
The food was very good
They have a excellent baked French onion soup
Great food, great service in a great atmosphere! Ribeye and filet were both cooked to perfection. Charcuterie board had some great meats and cheeses plus a surprise bowl of candied mixed nuts. Highly recommended!
My sons birthday.
Very good food but not much atmosphere. And the service was slow, despite few people in the restaurant.
Amazing service. Nicole took care of us with a smile and was very knowledgeable and professional. The food was among the best we have had in the area. The French onion soup was the best I have ever had! The lobster bisque was up there as well. I’m a steak snob. I can almost never find a restaurant that knows how to properly sear while keeping medium rare. The chef nailed it. This steak was cooked better than any of had in major cities like Las Vegas. Also they bake their own bread! Four variations. Outstanding.
The head chef came out to meet us at the end of the meal. It was a great way to end the meal. You can tell he loves his job.
I cannot imagine you will be disappointed so what are you waiting for!
We took advantage of the special.. appetizer, a bottle of wine, bread, salad or soup, entree and dessert for two.. Everything was fabulous. We will go back often.. we might even make a special trip to Green Bay just to enjoy a steak. It's a 3.5 hour drive for us but it's worth it.
Excellent experience! Being greeted by the host when entering and bar tenders who are very knowledgeable and remember what everyone is drinking, the evening started very well. The waitress knew the menu and was helpful in making dinner selections. She even allowed changes/ combinations of two entrees to accommodate dinner selections. The group had steak, scallops and fish. Dinner was excellent. We will be returning!
Food was terrible. The chicken was not edible and left on the plate. The duck was served very cold. A second drink was ordered mid meal but refused as it was not served until after the meal. We were told the downstairs bar was busy, and hence the delay, but when we left - the bar was deserted.
Will not return nor recommend to anyone.
Wonderful anniversary dinner with my husband.
Always great food with seasonal selections. Quiet atmosphere, can actually carry on a conversation.
Had our engagement party there and went back for our 5th anniversary.
Still around and still good!
Wonderful meal and date with my wife. We’ll be back.
This definitely was not a great experience. Nothing was over the top. Our server was not willing to let us modify anything on our dishes. The caesar was very heavy with anchovy flavor; this took away from the salad as a whole. Only had 1 small round of bread service. The creme brulee sugar topping was burnt. Pretty disappointed in our visit. If we are spending over $100 on a meal I feel it should be over the top and what we want.
Took my wife for her 30th birthday. We very much enjoyed the experience. Service was excellent and food was delicious.
We were disappointed in how long it took to receive our drinks and food. Food was excellent!
Great dinner. Great service. Really made for an enjoyable evening.
We went to Black and Tan to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday. Although I made a reservation, we had to wait 10min for our table. Other than that, my husband and I throughly enjoyed ourselves! The waitress was great, the ambiance was intimate and the food was DELICIOUS!! We will definitely go back!!
We got there before 7...about 6:45. We told our waitress we had a show at the Meyer at 8. It was not busy at all, and she assured us we would have plenty of time. Well, by 7:40 we still did not have our food. We got it at about 7:45, from our waitress that was so overly liesurely - not a care in the world, we had to basically scarf down our$120 dinner in 10 minutes to make the show. I could see if it was busy, but it wasn't, less the half of the tables on the upper floor were even filled.
Outstanding customer service, excellent food. Had the Surf and Turf, the Lobster was tender and really large, the steak was cooked to perfection and was one of the tenderest I have ever had and was perfectly seasoned.
Food was good and service was great.
Service was unacceptable. In the past its been very good. Waiter seemed more like a busboy. At these prices, all aspects of experience should be at a high level. Food was excellent.
Not sure if we will be back.
had a 645 reservation, didn’t get sat until 715, then our server never came to the table after 10 min of sitting. so we got up and left
The service was fantastic . Our food was excellent.
In the past, we have had excellent service. Last night, we did not. Our waiter (Dustin) did not know about the special, rarely checked on us, and took forever. I probably wouldn't have noticed, but the table behind me had a waitress named Amanda. Well after we ordered our food, I heard her tell the table about the special for the night (which was a good deal!). She also checked in on tables regularly and got bread and salads out quickly. I actually heard another table ask Dustin about a special and he said "No, there are none that I know of"--he never went and asked either. I did later look it up and see the special advertised.
The food, which eventually came out, was delicious, as always. My steak was definitely undercooked from what I ordered. (I ordered medium and it was rare). I didn't send it back because we got our entrees over an hour after we sat down, and we didn't order an appetizer. I didn't really want to wait another half an hour for my food when it was already almost my bedtime.
I wanted to do something special for my girlfriend on our weekend get away. Going to The Black and Tan Grill was a wonderful experience for the both of us. The restaurant atmosphere was relaxing. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The food was delicious and so well plated.
The service was wonderful. We had a concert at the Resch that evening and we went there first. Our server Elizabet was great. She kept us moving at a great pace, which didn't feel rushed or hurried, and she was so very friendly.
The food was excellent. From the drinks, to the bread to the soup to the dinner, everything we had was phenomenal. It's a little pricey, but you absolutely get what you are paying for.
And the ambiance is fantastic. A perfect place for a romantic date or an evening out with friends.
I cannot wait to get back there again.
The vegan option was phenomenal, and our server was incredibly friendly, personable, and knowledgeable.
Had to wait over an hour to get our food . Staff was rude an insincere. For $126 just expect a whole lot more. Very dissatisfied.
Megan was a wonderful server! Made our night for sure. Her attention not just to us, but also the other tables she was serving was very impressive.
Really good food and ambiance. Great for date nights.
The food and service exceeded my expectations, it’s a great place, with superb staff ! You’ll want to buy the kitchen a round of beers after enjoying your dinner!!
It was very enjoyable.
Was a great experience! Staff was exceptional and food amazing!!
We had a wonderful meal at Black & Tan Grille. We went for our anniversary and it was a very relaxing atmosphere with excellent, unique meal offerings. The hostesses and waitstaff were all great and we were impressed with our service. We'll be back!
We were in a bit of a rush, so we had the Crab Cakes, the little Beef Wellingtons, and the Lobster Bisque. All were really fantastic! Great servers, Great Bartender!
Food was great but we were seated 20 minutes late, despite having a reservation. Great proximity to Meyer Theatre if you’re going to a show.
We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary at the Black and Tan Grille just recently. The dining room was modern and clean. Our server was very friendly and explained all the menu choices to us with great detail and enthusiasm and the service was just right, not too slow and not too rushed. But best of all the food was exceptional. My husband had the duck and I had the scallops. Each dish was prepared with a perfect balance of flavors and textures and was absolutely delicious. Although a bit pricey, for our special occasion, Black and Tan Grille was the perfect choice.
