Black & Blue Steak & Crab - Buffalo
Was good overall
Food was excellent as always but our service was very slow. Steaks usually come out sizzling - ours did not so I know they'd been sitting for a bit. Once in a while it happens.
Celebrating Valentine's Day weekend, my husband, daughter & I decided on Black & Blue. I have dined there frequently over the years with work dinner programs but thought we'd try out the rest of the menu. The food was outstanding and Katie our server was terrific as well. Very knowledgeable regarding the various questions we had about the menu and everything we ordered was delicious. We started with the lobster fondue, then filet mignon for entrees and shared sides. All were excellent. The Molten Lava cake for dessert was one of the best I've tasted. They originally wanted to seat us at the closest table to the bar area, not sure why since there were many open tables and booths elsewhere when we arrived for a 6pm reservation. But I asked to be reseated in a booth & we were. Didn't appear to be an issue, but noticed that our original table remained open the entire time we dined. Would definitely return, the food and prices were good for the quality of what we had. Nice evening out for the holiday!
3rd visit - great again
We had an amazing time. We were late for our reservation but still were sat immediately. The coat check was a nice touch. This was our first time there so the setting was very nice. Perfect for date night. It was quiet and the lights were turned down. The inside of the restaurant is very pretty too. Our meal was amazing. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer. It was a little spicy, but we loved it. We split the 10oz filet with the Oscar classic sides. They cut the steak and the baked potato for us and each of us our own plate which doesn't usually happened when we share an entree somewhere. That was really nice. The steak was incredible. Cooked perfectly and so tender! We then had the peanut butter budino and banana trifle for dessert. They were both really good, but the peanut butter was our favorite. We will definitely be back!
Excellent food & service! Tender fillets, great crab soup.. Perfect anniversary evening!
Over all very good this time. If it wasn’t for someone getting us a gift card for Christmas we wouldn’t of gone there. We were there once before and ordered a filet butterflied well done and they burnt it. So, that wasn’t a very good first impression. This was our 2nd time there.
Great experience food was outstanding and the waitress was great too kudos to black and blue
Food was great! Service was wonderful. Felt a little cramped with the seating.
The specials are always a good choice. The service is awesome. Food is cooked well, tho I couldn't argue perfect.
Everything was good! Valentine’s Day was a perfect time to eat there. Until they sat a large party of 8 loud adults nearby.
Lovely restaurant with excellent service and food. It is a little expensive, but it a very nice way to celebrate a special event or for a romantic experience.
Swordfish special and scallops were Prepared perfect.
Love the atmosphere, the food and the staff is very attentive.
Staff was polite and accommodating. The menu needs to be updated and expanded
From start to finish, everything was excellent! The service, the ambience and the food were wonderful! Jessica and Will did a great job letting us know about the specials, how long our meals would be and making sure that we had everything we wanted. We’ve been here before, and we will most certainly go here again!
Black and Blue never disappoints. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience.
Great food and service.
The meats that we ate were very good, the seafood ( lobster ) that we had was bland at best did try sweet potato dumpling was very tough to eat, was hard at bottom. The music was very unappealing and not right for the ambiance.
The waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu. I have a food allergy and he knew exactly what to recommend. It all was very delicious too! Perfect for our date night!
Incredible steaks and short rib special was divine! Excellent wine list and cocktail as well.
Black and Blue has always been a restaurant that you here people talking about so we decided to try it for a birthday. Upon making the reservation we were asked if there was anything we would be celebrating, yes, a birthday I said. When we arrived at the restaurant the hostess welcomed us and wished a happy birthday. Once we were seated it took a bit for our waiter to get to us, that was fine seeing how they were busy and we already had drinks. We ordered the calimari for an app, ny strip and lamb for our main course. The calamari was excellent, however the steak and lamb were both over salted to the point of them being difficult to enjoy. Maybe we just went on an off night but not once did the waiter wish a happy birthday or bring a piece of desert to us to celebrate with. Mind you, the people next to us received a piece of cake for the birthday they were celebrating. After we paid and began to walk out, there was no “thank you for coming and have a great night!” from anyone. We didnt feel very welcomed and for what we paid to go here for dinner, i would say it was a bit of a let down. Though, like it said, maybe it was an off night. I would possibly try black and blue again in the future with hopes of a better experience.
We had a party of 4 celebrating twin birthdays. Food was incredibly delicious. Absolutley love it here. Left feeling like we were going to burst and we still brought leftovers home.
The steaks were prepared just as ordered. The appetizer (blue lump crab) was superb! Kudos to the kitchen on that dish!
This is a pricey place (just about $400 for 4 people, 2 of which were children), but you know your steak will be prepared properly. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. It was a lovely evening!
Had a wonderful meal as usual. We've been here at least 3 times now and have no complaints to food or service. It was my wife's birthday and they even brought out a small complimentary dessert. We will be sure to go back as they have excellent steak and melt in your mouth seafood.
Service was excellent. Food was average. Nothing spectacular.
Always a great dining experience! My wife and I really enjoyed our meals.
I don't know if they can fix it but the price rating for this restaurant is way off. Two glasses of wine, two steaks, and one shared side came out to $108 without tip. That doesn't match with the price rating this restaurant has.
Don't get me wrong, the restaurant is super nice and the food was to die for. Just surprised us with prices.
The service was excellent and so polite! The food was fantastic. A nice place to have a special celebration.
Just a nice evening all around. Service was great, food delicious and cocktails lovely. Pretty setting as well. An unexpected suburban treat!
Food was pretty good. I was not overly impressed. Service was great. Ambiance very nice. I don't feel particularly motivated to go back. If I want to pay that much for a meal, there are places I can go where I'll be "wowed" and I think you should be, when you pay that much for a meal
I always enjoy going to B & B, but this time I did not get the seating I requested (and it was available). The tuna dish I had really didn’t have any sides with it at all.
Go to spot for special occasions. Fantastic food and service
Outstanding food, wine and service. We are never disappointed when we visit.
We arrived for our 6:15 pm reservation at 6:05 pm and were promptly told that we would have to wait for a table since there weren't any open at that time. We went to the bar to wait and while there, we saw at least 5 or 6 open tables. After approximately 40 minutes in the bar, around 6:45 pm, I went an inquired about our table. I was told that they "had to seat some bigger groups first". I stated that I had a 6:15 pm reservation, and she apologized and said that she had to seat the bigger groups first. Miffed, I went back to the bar. Approximately 7:05 pm, a gentleman came and apologized for the delay and then escorted us to our table. The server was then busy helping the table of 10 or 12 BEFORE attending to us, and they apparently were his priority for the evening.
Our food was excellent, as always, but after our meal, our table was cleared of dishes and our wine glasses sat empty for approximately 15 or 20 minutes before the waiter finally came back to our table. He brought my mother a dessert for her birthday and the check not long after that. We left the restaurant at 8:55 pm when we were hoping to be wrapped up and dropping my mom off at 8:00 at night.
if smaller parties are suddenly going to be treated like second class citizens and are forced to defer to bigger parties, then I will make a point of going to Hutch's or Left Bank where patrons are treated equally.
At a bare minimum, we should have had our drinks at the bar given to us as an apology for the nearly ONE HOUR delay in seating us at our table.
The waiter received a 20% tip only at my girlfriend's insistence.
I'll be reluctant to come back to B&B because of this experience. There are far too many excellent restaurants in Buffalo, with similar quality and lesser prices.
We celebrated our grandson’s 18th birthday ! Food was good, BUT....
the service was terrible !!!!!
We expected much better than it was.
Plus we had to keep asking for things; for example melted butter to accompany the seafood tower & more eating utensils !!! They should be a given at all times !!!!!!!
For the prices you ask, we were very disappointed with the service.
One of the absolute best steaks I've ever eaten. How did I live so long without having experienced a steak perfectly cooked in a 1700F oven. Thank you!
Great food and service!
Awesome experience. Can’t wait to return. Food and service were excellent. Great place to celebrate a 50th birthday.
Best experience dining I have had in a long time. Food was exquisite and came out very quickly and looked picturesque. Amazing!
