Seafood
Located on the south side of Gardiner’s Bay, adjacent to the marina is BKB (Bay Kitchen Bar). The location of this restaurant provides an amazing view during your meal, especially if you get there in time for a sunset. You can also rest assured that BKB is able to provide “sea-to-table” ingredients for many of its dishes. Classic East Coast cuisine reigns at BKB. The menu includes poached shrimp, crab cakes, octopus, scallops, mussles and a two-pound lobster. The Hampton clambake will satisfy any appetite with a pound of lobster, mussels, hew potatoes, corn on the cob and much more.

I rarely write negative reviews, but I felt that I had to after my recent dinner at BKB. I just dined there for the fourth time. Each time the service has been worse and they really seem not to care. This past Saturday night the restaurant was almost full and the kitchen appeared to be unable to handle it. After we were seated, no one approached our table for about ten minutes. The server finally appeared, seemed exasperated, apologized and said that they "being slammed." We ordered a bottle of wine which took at least twenty minutes to arrive. We ordered and our appetizers took thirty minutes, although they were pretty simple. We had to ask for bread because it still hadn't arrived. The main courses took another thirty minutes and we finally had to ask he gentlemen at the check-in desk if he could inquire. Our server had been MIA for awhile. That gentleman then brought the mains to us. Neither our server nor the manager (Eric?) ever inquired as to whether the food or anything else was satisfactory. The manager, however, had plenty of time to dote on two attractive women at a nearby table, frequently kneeling on the floor by their table to talk to them and personally prepare and bring them several rounds of drinks. He also appeared to rudely respond to another diner who confronted him about the poor service he was receiving. All in all, the food is pretty good once they get it to you and the ambiance is quite nice, although both of the desserts we ordered were not good and we had to request a knife to cut the extremely hard crust on both the key lime and the strudel . But of course no one ever asked how the desserts were. Don't think we will return, Just not a good overall experience.

Plus: plenty of room between tables and the restaurant isn't noisy. Minus: food is fine, a little overpriced, but the service is slow, sporadic and generally indifferent. Don't go for a special occasion or if you are in a hurry.

Incredible experience! Was catching up with an old friend it this was the perfect spot. The owner was working that evening and made our visit absolutely spectacular! The lobster roll was to die for and I cannot wait to visit their main location in East Hampton.

I received two reservation confirmations plus a notice how many minutes to allow to get there on time....arrived 15 minutes early...in record breaking sub zero temps...and the restaurant WAS NOT OPEN !!! Dark inside...chairs stacked on the tables...no signs of life. I never received an email, phone call or text that they could not honor my reservation. I hope everyone was OK....BUT...off my future list. No follow to date either. . 😁 Forced to give a rating above in order to submit...but they get a big fat ZERO !!!

We ordered the sliders (lobster, crab and fluke) and crab cakes for apps. The sliders are the best thing on the menu but at $30 bucks they are really overpriced. We both the Montauk yellowfin. Very average - only side was a couple pretty bland mushrooms. I was still very hungry.

The service was about as bad as could be. We were ignored for 20 minutes after being seated. The waiter just was not the least bit attentive. Finally, the menus arrived, but then no waiter again for quite a long period of time. The food, when we got it, was OK, only, and the prices were no less than what one pays at Atlantic Grill, a short walk from BKB. BKB in the Hamptons is very good. This was a complete surprise. I won't return.

Every summer, my family and I go to Bay Kitchen Bar in East Hampton. So you can imagine we were excited to see they had opened a place in the city. BKB however, may still be working out some of the kinks of opening a new place. It took us nearly a half hour to get our cocktails (and mind you, the place was not yet full). It also took a while for us to get our main courses. To end the night, nearly two hours after we first sat down, my family ordered a dessert for my birthday. Only, the restaurant had no candles. On a positive note, the staff was very friendly and working as hard as they could. We love Bay Kitchen Bar and hope they're successful in the city.

First time to BKB, went late on a Wednesday night, not many other diners at that time. Waiter was friendly and efficient. Food was delicious, had the duck and fluke. Will definitely be back

The restaurant has a Cape Cod menu (e.g., seafood, lobster rolls, etc...) and a modern NYC industrial fusion décor. Hard to pin down the vibe of the place because it was all over the place. Food was good, service was nice, but we left not necessarily jumping for joy that we found a new favorite place to eat and that we will go back. It was clear that the décor and menu was done by "committee" (essentially satisfying everyone's requests) and not committed to any type of style or direction. So, there it is....

BKB.. Food was okay, decent size portion but instead of getting a crispy Czech style 1/2 duck as was explained to me by the server (and since the restaurant is in the Czech National Hall building) I thought I was safe ordering it! The duck was fair and it came just like that! Just the half duck on the plate. No side dish, no dumplings ,no potato, just the duck. a $34.00 rip off. My partner had the fluke. Again for a $32.00 price tag do you think you could add a half an ounce of rice or something? The bar and the wonderful glass floor in front of it are still the same however, the Kegs and working taps and hoses of the wonderful draft beer you used to see while looking down into the refrigerated tap room on the lower level has been replace with a storage room. ?? Go figure? The Decor of the place has changed and all the beautiful hand carved wood of the former Hospoda restaurant is unfortunately gone, replaced by what looks like cheap, white shower curtains through out the room. Very expensive and not waling away feeling good about it!
