BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse - Bloomington
Out of the beer I wanted out of pork chops that my wife and I both wanted. Her chicken was either undercooked or not even chicken. The ribs I ordered were ok bet have had better from Friday’s, chili’s and others places.
Made reservation for a Friday night. Showed up for our reservation to be told by the hostess they do not except reservations. Had to wait 30 minutes to be seated.
with so many options, why bother. rude staff, cold food, warm beer.
Very busy, but server did not have a good attitude. Kitchen was slammed (according to server), but he was slow on refills and getting us silverware. He forgot to enter our app, my side dish (broccoli) was cold and my wife’s’ fries had to be returned because they were cold.
Eaten BJ’s many times, this was worst experience and very disappointing.
We arrived 15 minutes early for our 5:30 reservation. There is really no where to sit and wait. We sat outside for 30 minutes waiting. I went in to check on our time. A table of 4 came in without reservations and were immediately sat at a table in the bar area.
The guy got back and told me there were still 8 tables in front of me. I asked about the table he just seated. He said that if tables were available in the bar, he could seat people there. There were 3 other empty tables in the bar but we had not been given that as an option.
Then it took us an hour to get our food. My son had ordered a sirloin, medium. It came out well
So disappointed in our experience
Despite having a reservation for 5:30, we weren’t seated until 6:15. Service was extremely slow. Server did her best. I suspect they were terribly understaffed. The restaurant was half empty although those waiting were plentiful. Empty tables surrounded us. Food finally arrived at a little after 7, and all of it was cold.
Lesson learned—skip this place next time!
We arrived for a reservation and they couldn’t see us for at least a half hour. Then the waitress told us it would be at least an hour before we get our food. So we never ate there we ended up leaving. According to the manager Dash open table over booked them.
Brought our daughter here to eat over parent's weekend. Every thing was very tasty. And my daughter said it was the best food she has had in a very very long time . She absolutely loved the ribs and the desert ice cream cookie. She will definitely be a return customer even without her parents footing the bill!
Reservation was for 7:00 and we weren’t seated until 7:40 with no apology, just statement that they were busy due to an IU event. (Then they shouldn’t take reservations if they can’t honor them, but I digress.)
Food was marginal and slow. Two burgers ordered medium both arrived well done. The giant nachos were light on toppings.
We won’t be back.
In town for THE OSU vs Indiana 2019 game and we stumbled across this restaurant on opentable. It was just down the street from our hotel and we where excited to try this place since it is not available in our part of Ohio. The atmosphere was great, the restaurant was clean and not too loud for a sports bar kind of place. Our waiter was amazing, he recommended numerous dishes since have never been and all 3 of us throughly enjoyed our meals!! I feel awful that I don’t remember his name to give him a shout out. The restaurant has a huge selection of food ( like a car manual size) and the drink menu is amazing! This restaurant definitely has something for everyone!! We will definitely be back!!
Good experience. I’ll go back!
Not quite the amazing experience we expected based off of various reviews, but it was still quite good. Server made some errors, but was a very nice young lady. A little pricey, but we will most likely return as the overall experience was positive.
Noisy and server got things confused... maybe it was because they were so busy
It was my birthday and my family and friends enjoyed the food the menu is overwhelming though there are a lot of options. It seats a lot of people too so when it’s busy it’s very loud.
Good upscale bar food. Excellent salads. Good selection of beers and cocktails. Enjoyed the jambalaya.
Servers need to be trained better on knowledge of their beers.
Had to wait about five minutes for the reservation food was OK waitress brought wrong dishes to the table several times it was her first day on the job
We went to dinner for my birthday with my parents and our kids. Service was overall good but entrees took quite a while to come out as well as one drink ordered from the bar. There was maybe 15 customers in the whole place at 530. Not sure why it took so long for the bar and kitchen. Waitress was very friendly but not too good at checking in on us for a party of six. My moms hamburger she ordered was told that it only comes medium well (black and bleu burger which she was fine with that's how she likes her hamburgers cooked). I ordered my bacon guacamole deluxe burger medium. Her hamburger was pink and more medium than mine. I had no pink in my burger and hers was questionable upon eating. She said something to waitress and she responded with well....I can send it back for you im not sure. My mom had already taken three bites and felt bad for complaining so she just said she wanted to make the kitchen aware of it. Waitress offered to take some percentage off the bill for it. Reservations went well. The dessert I got for more birthday was delicious. The gentlemen that sat us was friendly and pleasant. My biggest complaint though is the low lighting...its so dark that even if you have glasses on its still hard to see..lol.
Considering it wasn’t busy we had surprisingly poor/slow service. Several things forgotten or delayed.
Didn’t acknowledge reservation. Slow service. Bad food.
Very good service and a wide variety of offerings on the menu, definitely a fan for life!
We were here for parents weekend which is crazy busy, even given that, the service was insanely slow, tables around us came and went before we even got our cold food. We complained and they were really good about making it right. The manager made sure all of our meals were fixed and comped our meal, so at least that happened. All in, we were there for a really long time just trying to have dinner but they were nice about it so we will give it another try sometime in the future.
We ate on the Friday of parents weekend at IU so it was busy. We had a reservation and were seated on time. The host raved about our waiter we were going to have. Someone else
Dame by to help and took our order, he was very helpful. The least helpful was our waiter who the host raved about. I felt like he wanted to be anywhere else and hardly came to table. Will give the restaurant another chance but next time will speak to manager about waiter and the service.
First time there. Had heard the service wasn’t good and it wasn’t. Took a long time to take our order and then a long time for apps and dinner. Server added an extra item to the bill, which we caught. He did not apologize for the error and seemed annoyed at having to correct the bill. So not ok! We did not complain but should have told someone. Got the feeling they are used to running that way though.
A plethora of delicious food🍴,craft beers 🍺 and bourbon 🥃.
Something for everyone!
We were optimistic about our evening at BJ’s Roadhouse, having heard from friends in Bloomington that the restaurant was a good choice on this busy, back-to-college weekend. We were happy to get a reservation via OpenTable and the lengthy menu offered numerous choices for each of us. Unfortunately, the service at BJ’s left a lot to be desired. Our server was distracted and even disinterested throughout the evening. Water glasses were ignored throughout the meal, and we had to flag down other servers to ask for them to be refilled. Maybe it’s a small issue, but I find that it’s indicative of how the meal will go, service-wise. Had to flag down our server to order a second glass of wine, and again to request a to-go box and the check. Thankfully, we enjoyed each other’s company, but I doubt we’ll return to BJ’s on future evenings in Bloomington.
Had the Santa Fe salad with chicken. Nothing extra special but as expected. I enjoyed it. Server was great. Will return.
Food ok. Not great. Barbecued ribs are pretty good. Fairly friendly but bad service. Sticky surface booths. Food for whole table does not necessarily arrive at the same time. Noisy and crowded--or fun, depending on your attitude. Dress however you like--of course. Bar area is maybe pleasanter than the rest of this place.
This was IU's graduation Saturday and the place was packed! We got right in at our reservation time and the service was good considering how busy the restaurant was. I am not sure how long the wait was but there were people outside waiting when we got there and when we left. Great time!! Thank you
Ordered a portobello mushroom swiss burger and they forgot the cheese. Server was very nice but the order took a long time to come out (we were a party of 6). Also, it would have been nice to get an update as to why the order was taking so long. It was a busy night but not that busy. Many empty tables. The server did take $ off the bill for the screw up.
The service is not timed properly. We got our entree within a minute after receiving our appetizers. They will hold your entree in the kitchen but it isn't very good when it finally comes out. The asparagus with the ribs entree was pathetic! Thinner than a thin pencil. Food that arrived on time was very good. This restaurant obviously is high-volume and fast-turnaround, catering to college students. Not a dining experience.
