Bixby's Ratings and Reviews
We were totally amazed when we went for our first Sunday Brunch, and have gone there whenever we can. We take our family and friends quite often. We took our Granddaughter, Sophia right from the airport after she arrived from NC. This is a gem of a find. The hostesses were very accommodating and sat us even when we arrived early for time. The wait staff were attentive to every detail. We love the bright room and the beautiful view. What an elegant place to dine.
A really wonderful setting for brunch. A spectacular view of the park, amidst a nice museum. The food was great, with a broad selection. Two of our party are vegetarians and both of them were satisfied with the selection. Service was slightly impaired by a large party, but that can happen anywhere and solid efforts to cover the disruption were made.
My salad was missing a key ingredient. As a way of making amends my server took 10% off the price of the salad on the bill. I thought just taking slightly over a dollar off the bill was really not a polite way to make amends. She was rather miffed that I didn't say something while I was eating.
The Sunday brunch was excellent. There was a very good variety of items that would accommodate most any dietary needs. The proportions at the food bar were of a smaller size and very manageable. The beef rounds were literally 'melt-in-your-mouth'. The chicken was just a bit dry. The lox were very good. The service was outstanding. Drinks were ordered, as well as some specials cooked to order (omelets, small waffles, quiche, eggs benedict). The view is wonderful - the outside wall is glass and faces Forest Park.
Tucked away on the 2nd floor of the Missouri History Museum, Bixby's presents delicious flavor combinations and top-level service in a serene environment with a great view of forest park. The menu is seasonal and has soup, sandwich and entree offerings. They even make pickles and gelato in house. The service is attentive and friendly. For us, another delight was although the museum was filled with boisterousness and noise, the restaurant is a subdued oasis.
I was so impressed with our long awaited first visit to Bixby's! The value was great for the quantity and quality of food. Service was very good especially with respect to the children in our group. Love the complimentary champagne. It was a perfect meal for our extended family.
We went to Bixby's for the Sunday champagne brunch this past weekend to celebrate my daughter's 21st birthday with several of her friends. None of us had never been there before. Aside from the setting which was beautiful (2nd floor of the Missouri History Museum, overlooking Forest Park through floor to ceiling windows), the ambience was lovely and the food was fresh, "clean," creative and absolutely delicious!!! In addition to the brunch buffet, you can order several items featured on the menu of the day, so, on our server's recommendation, I tried the traditional Eggs Benedict, which was amazing, mostly because of a Hollandaise sauce the likes of which I have never tasted. Even the coffee was great, which is always a plus. I also really liked the fact that the brunch plates are on the small side, so that when you "fill your plate" (which we all did several times!), you are not stuffing yourself. The champagne offered with the Sunday brunch is also a nice touch and was particularly appropriate given the occasion.
Bixby's is not to be missed!
The service was prompt and informative describing the menu and lunch special. 3 out of 5 ordered the lunch special of shrimp tacos - very good!
An appetizer, lunch and coffee made for a perfect business lunch in a relaxed atmosphere and reasonably priced.
I will make Bixby's a regular business lunch in 2015.
Bixby's for Sunday brunch did NOT disappoint. This may be the best kept brunch secret in
Saint Louis. The beef slices and mashed potatoes were excellent. We had a slice of quiche,
and we both thought it was superb. I also had a "waffle" with strawberry compote/sauce on
it. The sauce was a bit thick, but the size of the waffle still let me go to the brunch line 3 times.
Everything available (as well as the plates) is small enough to enjoy the many different varieties
of salads, "main" courses, desserts, as well as the off-the-menu items and omelette station.
I think this is the best place for "brunch buffet". I asked if the lavosh crackers were of a certain
manufacturer, and was told they were made "in-house". They are that good, that I will be
calling for special order.
My friend & I had a wonderful lunch on a Thu before touring the museum. The view is lovely, & very calming, all that green. The service was superb as was their timing of the service. My salmon flatbread was excellent. The only complaint of the meal was the quinoa taboulleh side dish was too dry. That one complaint was so minor we forgot to mention it to the servers.
View was great. We were a group of three and two ordered specials of the day. Potions were good and food was good. Third entree was the vegetable tart. The serving was meager and it was not savory but rather sweet. Crust was good by not the filling. Crackers served prior to meal were very good but we had to ask for more.
Four friends went to Bixby's on Monday. We so enjoyed looking out at the snow with our table by the window. The food was excellent. We were not hurried out even though we stayed beyond the 2:00 closing. It was a wonderful dining experience for all four women.
Went before and it was excellent. Yesterday's lunch was extremely lackluster, over cooked hamburger, uncooked English muffin. The waitress filled my water glass only when we finished our lunch, had to drink from my guest's glass. There were only three other tables so it wasn't busy.
I don't think I'll return unfortunately.
We reserved a table for Valentine's lunch. I had never eaten at Bixby's. The plan was to have lunch, tour some exhibits and go to a movie at the Chase later all of which we did. The real highlight was Bixby's. Very good wines, the food was outstanding. Be sure to add the Caesar salad to your lunch. The staff was very friendly. Morgan, our wait person was professional, attentive and lovely. The view across Forest Park ...... wow!
Having made a reservation through Open Table got us ahead of others who were waiting. and even honored our request for a window table.
The prices are very reasonable.
Will we go back? Yes! In a week when we have out of town company.
I wish they were open for dinners.
It was our first time at Bixbys. I Brought my mother and father for champagne brunch to celebrate my dads 65th birthday. He loves history so I planned on flowing up with a nice museum visit! The hostess was wonderful. She was so welcoming and enthusiastic. Our server was not so nice. She wasn't very talkative or informative and visibly rolled her eyes when we asked questions. I will definitely give Bixbys another chance because the entirety of the visit wasn't bad. I just wish I server would have been nicer.
We were pleasantly surprised by the gourmet selections that Bixby's had to offer on their Buffet and then to find out we could also order anything off the menu as well, included in the price.
We were seated by the window which gave us a view of a portion of Forest Park. The champagne was a nice touch to start our Brunch. We chose fresh made omelets, biscuits, beef tenderloin, cheeses, shrimp, and salad to name a few. Then there was the table of "Sweets" that included cookies, cinnamon rolls, and pastries. There were also plenty of selections on the menu as an addition to the buffet. These selections were served as smaller portions. Great Idea! That way you could try as many as you wish. We chose the bread pudding with caramel sauce. Tender, and not too sweet. All the foods that were to be served hot, were hot. Often Buffet food can become dried out or overcooked and often is only warm. Bixby's does a great job of maintaining the food temperatures.
Our waitress was attentive, personable, and well spoken. A wait-staff can make or break a meal.
We have already recommended Bixby's to others and plan to return.
