Top notch, classic place and experience. The food didn’t blow me away but everything we ordered was very solid. The atmosphere/ambiance was unique and fantastic, our waiter, Jonathan I think, was a 10.
The food was very taste. The portions were very small and the value was not there. A bit pricey for the amount of food. Great decor but still the prices vs. the food is not a restaurant I care to repeat. Sorry chef.
Beautiful restaurant! Delicate flavors, perfectly sized portions. Service was excellent. We went to lunch, would love to try dinner but it was too late for a reservation.
Love love love this place ... elegant, great atmosphere, top-notch food and service. Favorite place for client dinners in SF. Live jazz in background lends to the experience without reducing the ability to have a conversation.
Great place. Dined at Bix 29 years ago, a few times after, and in February 2019 for an early Valentine's dinner. Great drinks! Food was awesome! Service was no rush and courses came out warm and not before the previous dish was finished. Everything was perfect! Great place for a romantic dinner, live jazz was a great touch to the retro ambiance.
One of my favorites but drinks are tiny and expensive. Love the restaurant and ambience. Great service as well.
Bix is starting to look run down. The food is very good but it isn't memorable. The bathrooms are filthy.
The steak was really undercooked and when we asked for them to fix it they still made it undercooked.
BIX was a very nice classic restaurant. They have a piano player on the 1st level and the light were dim. Our server was very nice and kind to explain the menu and make recommendations. There are booth comfy seats on the 2nd level and the food was delicious. We order the caviar and it came in a warm blinis pillow, it just melt in your mouth. My wife had the lamb, I had the duck and both were very well executed. We will come back for more celebrations.
The service at Bix is outstanding. We enjoyed every minute of it, the ambience was perfect. We got engaged here on Saturday! Thank you Bix!
We came here for my mom’s 60th. It was the perfect start to a fun night out - we did the Speakeasy SF after so we wanted a place to eat that would be festive and work with our 1920s attire! This place worked for everything! Great food, service and vibe! We will be back for more!
My boyfriend and I had one of our best dinning experiences to date. Absolutely amazing experience! We will be back. Thank you.
Great food and service
Wonderful SF supper club that has a bit of the old SF (decor, musical trio, menu choices, great service) and the contemporary SF (new take on classic dishes, superb presentation of drink and food). The menu was great, with swordfish and lamb our rewards tonight. Prices will seem a bit steep to most, but considering the music and ambiance, it's worth it and the wine list and menu have variety without being too long. Highly recommended for a special night out.
We love BIX, we love the atmosphere, the food, the entire experience. We took friends who had never been there, and they were delighted as well. Highly recommend
Always great, love this place. Great ambiance, food and service.
Lunch time, quiet which was good. I wonder why reviews say great views?
First time experience. Very nice!
Food and service were superior. Too LOUD to even carry on conversation across the table
Waiter was excellent.
I'd been before and enjoyed it but the return was a real disappointment. I ordered a virgin mary, which was really just a glass of tomato juice instead of a bloody mary sans vodka. It arrived without theatre, adornments (like a celery stick), or taste, and in a small wine glass rather than a long glass.
Food was similarly disappointing: the steak tartare was prepared tableside but was nevertheless insipid and forgettable. Fries were so-so. Salad was ok, and the saving grace was the cauliflower side which was a decent size and reasonably interesting. My friend's salmon looked mean for a $40 entree. The total came to $160 with two drinks (only one alcoholic), one main, one appetizer, and three sides (so five dishes total) as the sum of our meal. Yes the ambiance is still great but can - and will - do a lot better elsewhere.
Fantastic night immersed in jazz with elegance, gorgeous drinks and impeccable service. Food OK but not earth shattering.
Bix always surpasses expectation and does so with elegance and consistency. The craft cocktails to start the evening at the beautiful bar beneath the massive mural, while listening to live jazz piano music was a perfect way to start the experience. The ceviche appetizer along with the lamb and ny strip were delicious and beautifully presented. The mixologists, our server and team were very professional, helpful and warm. These employees have been with Bix for over 15 years and clearly enjoy what they do. Bix is as good as it was 21 years ago, when we first dined there, and we suspect this to continue for years to come. The atmosphere is an 11 on a scale of 10. Truly a remarkable experience...thanks Bix, we look forward to dining with yo soon, upon our return to San Francisco! Mark/Amy Lexington KY
The hostess was amazing very Sweet know we were there for a birthday. Server was great very attentive, actually all staff was. The food was amazing. The restaurant was beautiful
One of my favorites in San Francisco.
Great food, wine
Make sure to reserve a table upstairs to enjoy the view of the bar and the incredible Mark Stock painting of the Butler in Love.
5 stars from me.
From our arrival thru to our departure, the experience at Bix was first rate! We were with an elder friend in a wheelchair with an oxygen tank, and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. They treated our friend like royalty. The food was excellent and the ambiance was as it always is, perfect. We will definitely be heading back there again! Thank you Bix for hiring such an incredible staff.
Very loud couldn’t even hear the waiter. Service OK. Felt rushed. Different experience then we had in the past.
My partner and I had such a lovely time celebrating his birthday. Also, our server was exceptional and the food was mouthwatering. Thanks.
Bix was a great surprise find for my group. The waitstaff were fantastic and regaled us with the gold rush history of the beautiful building. The live jazz was fun and created a cool speakeasy vibe that the whole group loved.
The food was simply outstanding.
Only negative is the noise level...if you've got a smaller group (4-5) it isnt an issue but with a group of 8 my entire table couldn't converse. However that did not dampen their enthusiasm for the venue...they all raved! I only mention it for extra info.
If you have an opportunity to visit Bix o highly recommend you do!
Overall, we enjoyed the experience and would recommend to anyone interested in indulging in a fine dining experience. The place is a little loud near the bar, but easier for conversations upstairs. You also get a nice view from the upstairs tables. The food is delicious and choices are varied. I went with the lobster spaghetti and would highly recommend. Wine selection is okay, but an evening well spent nonetheless.
I had a reservation for 7. They seated us at 730. Even though the food and service were great the evening was ruined because of how poorly we were treated by the so-called hostess. She was unfriendly and brusque. It is very noisy and it was difficult to hear my guests. I won't return for a long time
Loved it all especially our server Jackie. The food is really amazing, and I’m not an easy one to please across the board. The fine preparations and added specialty touches really make for a memorable dining experience.
We will be back.
Great ambiance for a date, birthdays or any special event. Piano play is a nice touch. Martinis are on point. Duck, bread pudding, oysters all very good. Steak was good, but could’ve been better. That was the only thing that wasn’t great. Great place for a nice dinner.
Everything was good, but not spectacular. Nothing to complain about, but certainly nothing to be excited about either.
I was hoping for much more based on the reviews.
Pleasant as always
No better time can be had!
Always love it.. special date night.. go to in SF
The atmosphere, energy and beauty of the space were everything advertised! A swanky supper club vibe with excellent service. Appetizers (crab toast, hard boiled egg and to a lesser extent pigs in a blanket) were tasty and fun, as were the cocktails. Entrees very good if short of stellar, but the bananas foster dessert was incredible. The noise level was very high--making conversation a bit challenging, and masking the jazz piano/vocals--probably the only notable flaw in an otherwise special spot.
