Mexican
Simply put, we're a casual neighborhood restaurant serving up elevated and authentic Mexican fare in a family-style setting. In Mexico, meals are a time for sharing good conversation over even better food. We like that philosophy, so we decided to bring it to Rochester and complement it with a mezcal-based cocktail list. Yes, we have other spirits and classic cocktails, but we want to celebrate and share mezcal—Mexico's indigenous spirit made from agave and a cousin of tequila—with Rochester and beyond.

The food was super tasty, and the cocktails were great, so no complaints there. However, it took quite a while to be seated (we had a reservation), and for any service. Once we did order, there was a problem with it - they brought our entre before the appetizer. We told them to just forget the appetizer at that point since it had been a while. We heard the two people next to us that their order was wrong too. The service staff was pleasant and helpful, but it seems like this could have been a more organized operation.

First time at Bit of Honey. We all enjoyed our food. The house special margarita was excellent. My rioja enchiladas seemed more Italian than Mexican as the sauce tasted more like a marinara sauce than a traditional enchilada sauce. My two dining companions said the mole sauce for their enchiladas was excellent.

The tacos were very authentic as well as the chorizo. I hear the ceviche is good but it wasn’t available when we went. The salsa is very bland with very few ingredients except tomatoes. The green salsa was very watery. The drinks were great. The waiter was quite good but it took a little while to pick up the check. Overall a very pleasant experience.

Salsa flight wasn’t too great this time, very watery, still tasted good though. The troubling part is, if you make a bad batch, why would you serve it? Kinda dumb on the Chefs part.

Had a great experience here. Did not have any issues with slow or poor service (as mentioned in other reviews). The food was excellent as were the cocktails. Will definitely be back.

Excellent service, interesting cocktails, good food. Portions are small, especially for the price. Restaurant was not very full and might be quite noisy if it was.

Fun evening. We ordered chopped salad and we think some parts listed were left off the salad. Server was too busy and we did not get a chance to talk about it.

Slowest service ever. Food was good but not good enough to justify the slow service, small portion sizes, and very loud noise level

Good points .... margaritas, Thin Man Burning Money on tap. Food was ok. Service was very good.
Just not the 'Mexican restaurant experience' that I was expecting.

What a great restaurant. The food was fantastic, fresh and absolutely beautiful. The servers were friendly and knew the menu, able to make recommendations about drinks and appetizers. The decor is awesome. We cant wait to go back when it is warmer and take advantage of the patio and check out the bar. We will definitely be back!!!

Expensive food and drinks but the the food was EXCELLENT. Took a while for waiter to take our order. Screwed one of them up. Gave me the wrong take home. But I loved the atmosphere and decor. Very cool place and location. Would definitely go back!

This was my fourth time here for dinner and luckily, the first time I had good, timely service. Every other time, it has taken multiple attempts to get our server's attention or even get chips and salsa (which we once waited over an hour for). We were glad to have a good experience. The guac was good and the tacos were delicious if not quite small and with few toppings for $15 (but that's typical for street tacos at a place like this)...We also specifically noted it was our friend's birthday and asked for something special and nothing was ever offered. Not sure if they just don't do anything for that or if they forgot.

Food is okay but not great. Drinks are minimum pour. Service was friendly and efficient. The annoying issue was that they charge for extra salsa which is a minimal serving to begin with. Lacks the class of the restaurant it pretends to be.

Everything was great. The magaritas are the best, even if it takes awhile to get one. The portions are nicely sized. The atmosphere is fun also. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a unique mexican dining outing.

Recommend for drinks and apps only unfortunately. We had very spotty service. Table of 7. I didn't feel like I was being treated like a "tip included" sized party....but when it takes almost 12 min to get a scotch on the rocks because the bartender is "crafting it"....um, no, that doesn't fly. Then the meal all ordered at once came out over 5 min....so we all weren't eating together. Taco size is NYC size, not ROC size. Should be more like $3 or $4 vs. $5. Quesso was great. Guac good. Salsa yummy. Pablano Pepper appetizer was totally undercooked - almost raw....crunchy. Now that I type this all, I will not go back.

Food was tasty, but expensive and servings very small. Extra charge for beans and rice, really?? House margarita was weak, so i asked for wine and the waiter couldn’t describe the wine choices. “It’s a rotating selection”; “Ok, what has it rotated to today?”; “It’s Italian”. That’s as good as it got.

Service was terrible. We went for a pre-theatre dinner before a show at the RBTL. We were seated right away, but the server took a long time to come. After bringing drinks he never came back to get our order. We finally had to track him down. We told him we had a show to make, but it didn’t help. He was still inattentive and food took a very long time to arrive.

Reservation was 6:30 and we arrived on time. Show was at 8, a 10 minute walk away. We almost missed the curtain. With RBTL right around the corner, they are missing an opportunity by not providing a decent pre-dinner experience.

My Friend and I sat at the bar for dinner. Got a cocktail right away and asked for menus. Took some time for a bartender to come back to take our food order. Food took about 25 to 30 minutes. We ordered an appetizer (nachos) but they came out with our meals. 😕 Had to ask twice for water and twice for the desert menu. Took a while to get our check. All very surprising considering we were sitting at the bar. That’s usually the quickest service. The bar was full when we arrived but by the time we were eating our meals and asked for our check, there were only 3 other guests on our side of the bar. Very disappointing as I really love the atmosphere.

Palomas tasted different than the other 2 times we went. Question dip was luke warm and complained about that, didn't do anything to make it right. Took 45min to get our food that wasn't cooked right... Medium well burger not medium. Chili rellenos wasn't good, corn meal batter... Since when? Will not go back unfortunately.

Cool vibes and good food hampered by the slowest service on planet Earth. We were astounded by how our server operated at such a snail’s pace. For a while we thought he had completely forgotten us. Took 20 minutes for him to take our appetizer order, and then another 20 minutes for them to bring us a basket of chips and guacamole. The tacos are five bucks a piece so they’re a little on the pricey side, but they really were quite delicious! Our favorite was the El Jefe!
