BITES is a fun place to be and is perfect for both casual dining and special occasions - date night, girls/guys night out, birthday party, bachelor/bachelorette party, baby shower, etc. Start or end your night right at BITES!
We ate at BITES one night on a whim because it’s close. The plates are small so you can try lots of things. Two of us had 6 items and they were all great so we decided to cancel the upcoming birthday party the following week and go here instead. The atmosphere is so colorful and fun, Island theme. Drinks were very creative and yummy and some served in pink flamingo floaties. And the cost is moderate that it makes for great dining for all when it comes to splitting a bill. The staff is very friendly and even remembered me from the previous time we were in just once before! I think we found our new neighborhood spot especially since there are so many yummy things on the menu we won’t ever get bored!! Oh and the music level is nice and appropriate so you can actually talk to your friends. We are a 40-50 something aged crowd so some places in the hood can be very annoying. This place was fun and comfortable all at the same time. Can’t recommend enough!!
Great & sharable food, cute ambiance, fun drinks, awesome staff. Little gem that I wish I knew about long ago!
It was a great time! My Gf was excited to celebrate her birthday and we were not disappointed! Thank you to all the staff! The food was amazing and great prices!
We had a total of 6 small plates to try a few different things. All were excellent. It was hard to decide! The menu is very inventive and was great for a couple who has a meat eater and a vegan to be able to eat together. The flavors of everything are outstanding. We will definitely be back!
Love it. Every time go, the food is great and the service amazing.
It was very good. The wife and I enjoyed the noodles and my daughter enjoyed the dessert. We were very impressed.
Lots of unique foods && great price. Would definitely go back and recommend this to friends
Excellent food, great atmosphere and outstanding service! Our favorite local spot!
First time here on Valentines, I did not know that they have high chairs and limited booth. It was very uncomfortable chair for most of us. It was our fault too that we came one hour late from our reservation. But still it was unpleasant experience that we had to suffer for the entire dinner just because there is no vacant booth or comfortable seat. We did get free dessert for the inconvenience. Food wise, we mostly ordered 4-course dinner plate, the only food that tastes good was the coconut shrimp, other than that it tastes bad like the marinated steak, it’s chewy and has different flavor. I was expecting too much for this place after getting a recommendation from a coworker but it was disappointing that it was not what I expected. If you want to order food here, I think ramen will be okay. And make sure you come at the reserved time and specifically request for booth otherwise you’ll end up to hard seated high chair.
Already have recommended to a few people. We will definitely be back as well - to try so many more things on the menu.
Really amazing gem! Stopped in for restaurant week - food was amazing. Large portions, fun dishes and great mimosa pitcher options!
My friend and I went to Bites during restaurant week and had their brunch. It was AMAZING! Totally worth it and I will def be going back. The service was quick, friendly, and attentive (not too much, not too little). I would totally recommend it to anyone who ones to try something new.
We frequently eat at bites. This occasion was great and not an exception to their norm.
Food wasn't great, don't get the squid ink fried rice
Good food and good service
A friend and I went for restaurant week! It the food was interesting and different! It wasn’t too crowded
The food was really delicious! The staff were very friendly, as well, and accommodated us coming in early for our reservation. Would recommend the spicy crab rangoon and the fried duck and cornbread waffle meal.
BITES was phenomenally well priced with delicious food, perfect for a night out with friends or a date! I especially loved the hand-crafted cocktails that tasted divine -- Happy Hour included! My pad Thai dish was super authentic and absolutely delicious. The whole atmosphere made you feel as if you were somewhere tropical, in not a tacky manner. The hostess even threw in a free, beautifully decorated dessert for my birthday! We definitely will be returning to BITES soon! 10/10 recommend for your next night out!
Great experience, food, service and ambiance! Highly recommended and I'll definitely go back.
Celebrated the anniversary with my husband and had a great lunch at Bites. The food was wonderful and the environment was great. Will definitely come back more often.
Bites continues to be such a brightspot of dining in Wrigleyville. Always so accommodating and inviting.
Always a great experience, delicious and innovative menu items as well as cocktails! Daily specials! Perfect place for a group special occasion gathering! Very friendly staff!
Great food, varied menu, good happy hour and lunch specials.
Ramen was missing the baby bok choy listed on the menu without any replacement. So besides the sprigs of cilantro, my ramen bowl was devoid of any vegetable source whatsoever. The general tso’s Duck was heavily breaded and soaked in a over the top sweet sauce. The seared squid roll was undercooked and slimy. Not a pleasant sushi roll experience.
Redeeming dishes included the flavor of the ramen bowl. Creamy, full body flavored soup. Would order again. The crab Rangoon was light and crispy and flavorful. The cucumber cocktail was spirit forward, crisp and light, perfectly mixed.
Wonderful quality and great happy hour prices. Loved the unique white sangria. The shrimp cakes and tuna were wonderful appetizers. The sushi roll was unique and fun to try.
Seated right away and checked in on at appropriate times. Perfect place for dinner while doing business.
we went for my boyfriends birthday dinner. i had been before but he hadnet. it’s got a great aesthetic and the food is fab. only weird thing is they charged us for a dessert they brought out that said “happy birthday.” it was very kind of them to go out of their way to do that but it’s a bit odd to charge for something we didn’t order. nonetheless, it was a great night!
Thank you very much for dining with us and for your 4 star review! First of all, we apologize for the delayed response and sincerely apologize for the mistake on your bill. We do provide a complimentary birthday dessert and it should have not been a charge on your bill. If this ever happens again, please let us know right away and we will correct it for you. Thank you very much for your feedback and we hope to see you again soon!
Ceviche was excellent, good bao, fried avocado was bland but really good with spicy sauce. Outside dining was nice, service was good. Relaxing evening.
Thank you very much for your lovely review, ChicagoAmy! Please let us know though how we can improve for your next visit and we hope to see you again soon!
Food and service were excellent! Our waiter was very nice. :) It was a lovely evening so we sat outside. VERY quaint 'lil patio they have. We ordered, mainly off the appetizer (small bites) menu.
First were the "taro chips." I LOVE these crunchy sticks of deliciousness! The dipping sauces (garlic aoili & umami ketchup were awesome as well. Next up was the "hot chicks," which was basically popcorn chicken with some sort of yummy sauce drizzled atop (maybe hoisin sauce?). Next came the "emerald gyoza," which was beyond delicious....and, again with the dipping sauce (soy/sweet/sour)....YUM! We also enjoyed the tempura avocado, fried perfectly. Lastly, we split the "fish tacos," which was an entire (deep fried) red snapper paired with a spicy papaya slaw and small corn tortillas. We watched an online video of this dish being prepared (on weird eats or something or other) and we were sold! However, the fish was not nearly as easy to pull apart as it appeared to be in the video. And, presenting it with a knife and fork, instead of a large spoon, caused all of us to grab fish bones along the way. So, picking out fish bones (or being afraid of having a hidden one) made this dish a bit less enjoyable.
My pals had the house red wine and both loved it. I had the coconut margarita. It lacked in coconut flavor but was still pretty darn good.
All in all, I very much enjoyed Bites. My only recommendations would be to serve the whole red snapper with a spoon so as to drag the meat away from the bones; add a bit of a spice kick (even just salt) to the batters (snapper, chicken, and tempura); and please stop cutting your straws in half for cocktails....they are too darn short. :)
Hi Jenafur...Thank you for dining with us and we really appreciate your 5-star rating and the feedback. We will continue to improve on our guests' experience and we hope to see you again soon :)
Rats on the patio. Food was underwhelming.
We sincerely apologize for the incident and thank you for your feedback. Being right next to the alley makes it quite difficult to avoid their present but we do have pest control on a regular basis and will continue to do our best to prevent them from coming in.
I love the lava sushi! It is something I crave often. Bites has changed up their theme a couple times but it's incredibly cute. It feels like you're on a tropical island. The sushi is great, expensive but it's expected from most sushi places.
Thank you very much Ellen for your lovely review! Please let us know though how we can serve you better next time you come in and we hope to see you again soon :)
Great happy hour deals. Food was good.
Thank you very much for your 5-star rating. We will improve on other aspects to better serve you. We hope to see you again soon!
The service was great and drinks, great! It’s a cute little spot with so much charm. So much potential. Only downside, the food. We ordered so many different dishes hoping the next one would be better but somehow they just kept getting worse. The Thai Asian noodles tasted like spaghetti noodles with peanut butter sauce. The hamachi was thick and did not look or taste fresh. Usually it’s very thin and you can see the freshness, not here. Tried the sushi, that was actually not too bad. Not the greatest but possibly the best part of our meal. The buns are good.. again, not great but not horrible. They were decent buns. But then again how do you ruin fried shrimp. We also got the pineapple shrimp, that also was not any better. It looked like shrimp thrown in with chunks of pineapples and bell peppers. There was no special taste to this. I will say the worst part we’re the noodles, so bad that I actually had to tell the sever that we could not eat them. She was so sweet and took them off our check (we only took two small bites). I have no problem spending close to/ spending $100 for a meal, but when the whole thing is not good, not happy about it. This place has so much potential, just might need a new chef?? The staff is so attentive and sweet, they make this place!
Thank you very much, PaulaJ, for your feedback. We have informed the kitchen and will continue to improve on the quality of food to better serve our guests.
Very saddened to say my experience was dissatisfying. I met a friend for dinner, on my recommendation. I had been a couple of years prior when it was fairly new. We sat and waited to give our drink orders for close to 15min which in the grand scheme of things wasn’t bad. By the time we ordered drinks we also ordered an appetizer to share and entrees. We were told the bartender was a little behind so we expected to wait for drinks. The drinks came out fairly quick. However, we waited roughly another 45 min for a tuna tar tar appetizer. Then at least another 20 for our main entrees. When my friends sushi came they comped her sushi, which was a great gesture except for the fact that we had asked for separate bills. So when the bill came I had double the bill as hers with getting almost exactly the same meal. This was also in part to the fact that the full price of the appetizer was placed on my bill instead of split since we had shared it. If she couldn’t split this, I understand however I felt we should still have been notified of that being an issue. When I asked to see a manager I was told she would just comp my meal as well. This was all a nice gesture and I don’t blame the waitress but the overall experience left us both frustrated and disappointed.
This being said the food was very good once it arrived. So no negative feelings towards that in terms of quality.
Thank you very much, PeytonL, for your feedback and we truly apologize for an unpleasant experience at our restaurant. We will continue to improve ourselves each and everyday for our guests. We hope to see you again.
Great variety of food offered in an energetic setting.
Enjoyed the Asian tapas but the drinks were average.
Good sushi great menu options and drink specials
We were pleasantly surprised at the different menu options as well as the taste! we went in to sample the menu for upcoming event. We will be going with bites for our event. We will keep you posted on how the catering portion worked out.
Always a great experience dining here! The food is always good and the servers are always so welcoming

I highly recommend Bites as a place to go eat. This is more of a family place, not high-end fancy, but superb food! So if you want that great, casual dining to go hang out and relax with your friends, this is the place to go!
