The jazz trio was great - the tiny dog on the chez long amusing
I really enjoyed this restaurant. The service was outstanding, the food was very well done, and the ambiance was charming and a little understated. The wine list was varied and fun though it’d be nice if they’d add a few older French vintages to the selection. But that’s a suggestion and not a complaint because this was a wonderful dining experience.
The appetizers and entrees were EXCELLENT! Appetizers: escargot and the Belgium endive salad with blue cheese. Entrees: soft shell crab, pate de foie gras, cassoulet.
Three perfectly crafted martinis, excellent wine list to choose from and espresso to top off a sensational dining experience.
Food, service and ambiance were all fabulous. AND, it was really quiet (admittedly on a slow Sunday night; I know it can get noisy at other times.)
Enjoyed half price glasses of champagne and wine before dinner. The onion tart is superb, the trout almondine is as well. We enjoy this little neighborhood bistro.
Bistro LePic (upstairs wine bar) continues to be a favorite destination, whether quick meal at the bar or fun wine tasting Tuesday with friends. The food choices are dependable and don’t disappoint. The prices can be higher than expected - so be aware, especially of specials. Happy Hour wine specials are worth stopping in for, however. Parking in that area is not a problem. Enjoyable French!
This was the fourth and last visit to this restaurant. Our other visits were wonderful so that is why we chose to return for a special celebration. However this time, from the moment we entered the restaurant our experience was downhill. First, the hostess did not warmly return our greeting and was not welcoming upon our arrival. We were extremely disappointed that she tried to seat us at the back of the restaurant next to the kitchen though the reservation indicated that it was for an anniversary celebration. Plus the restaurant was empty! The same individual was also dismissive when we requested a decanter for the burgundy wine as though we were silly to request the decanter for a $60 bottle. Actually, the wine did improve! The duck was requested as medium rare, but was served well done. It was returned for a redo but still not up to par as past dinners of the same. The other dish at our table was pasta based and it was extremely salty. Neither of us finished our plates. The finale to this terrible experience was the restaurant’s attempt to treat us with glasses of champagne. Unfortunately the champagne was nearly flat! Thank goodness the escargot at the beginning was good.
I usually do not write reviews but I have this time because our evening of special celebration was so disappointingly deflated by our experience. We have recommended this restaurant to many family and friends, but can no longer.
Wonderful atmosphere. We were given the best table on the place. The service was amazing and the food incredible. Our date was memorable !
Always a very welcoming ambience and excellent food and drink. THE best French food in Georgetown. You will not regret dining here.
Escargot and salmon Tatar very good
Special beef dish too salty and fatty meat
Onion soup too watery
This is an amazing restaurant! It was not my first time and I highly recommend it.
A great experience
Amazing service and delicious food.
Reliably consistent. Exactly what a French Bistro should be. Highly recommend
The food is always good here, and the staff is attentive. We would have preferred to sit in the center of the restaurant or along the longer side that has more light, but that was not an option on this last visit.
But the food is great (and the bread terrific), there is a nice selection of wine by the glass and the staff is pleasant and very knowledge about the menu.
Authentic French cuisine in a delightful setting. A memorable meal.
Went there during restaurant week. Fabulous food and service. I look forward to continuing to enjoy this wonderful neighborhood restaurant
Excellent! We went for Restaurant Week. Although the restaurant was bust, the food and service were delightful.
Made a reservation for a dinner to celebrate my sister’s birthday. Neglected to pay attention to the date being the first day of restaurant week. Made the meal less costly, but the room was full and much louder than usual. Staff worked hard, but were clearly stretched to the limit. Did a great job welcoming customers, but had difficulty keeping up once every table was taken.
We ordered champage to celebrate. Did not mind at all that it did not arrive before our first course. But we were half-way through the first course before I finally flagged someone to remind them. Server responded quickly and apologized.
Food was, as always at Bistrot Lepic, excellent. The server and kitchen responded beautifully and carefully to my sister’s gluten allergy. At the end, our server persuaded my sister, who does not care for sorbet, to try their home-made chocolate sorbet. Even my sister had to agree it is outstanding. More than redeemed the delay in serving the champagne.
Bistrot Lepic continues to be one of my favorite spots in DC. They deserved to be packed for restaurant week, and coped reasonably well.
Charming little restaurant that wins your heart quickly by having the best French bread at the start of your meal. Delicious sauces, traditional dishes and a nice wine list make it a lovely meal with friends or for a special occasion. The beef medallions are perfection with a wonderful wine sauce. The trout almondine always a favorite, but many other dishes (scallops, curried chicken) have been happy choices, too.
One of my Top 3 favorite French Restaurants in DC. Excellent wine list with "splits" to indulge in a superb glass of wine while dining. Even began with well crafted Grey Goose martinis. I started with a fantastic gazpacho soup, crisp and tasty green salad and the magnificent roasted quail wrapped in bacon and served on a bed of risotto and mushrooms. My date had the escargot for a start and sweet breads as the entrée. Espresso and dessert and already planning our return trip!
I have never had a bad meal here
My favorite place to eat in Georgetown. Excellent service and it feels like France!
Always delicious, always well presented, Bistro Lepic is a gem. Four different entrees, and all terrific. Definitely a must try if you haven't been there, and one we love to visit.
Excellent food and service. A great quiet place to talk.
Great menu ... hard to choose what to eat and nothing disappoints
It is always a pleasure to eat at this restaurant. The food is excellent, the staff attentive and polite, and the ambiance great; unlike many restaurants which are noisy, it is possible to have a conversation in a relaxed atmosphere.
Very nice, quiet place with an understated luxury and relaxed atmosphere. Delicate dishes with portion sizes that actually fit your needs and don’t go supersize. And the waitress is actually French. This is definitely the place to go when in Brooklyn
The gazpacho and seafood salad were absolutely incredible!
Very good food. It is nice and cozy.
I’ve drove by this place many times and never knew it was there. Went with open table reviews and was not disappointed! I had a dirty martini that was mixed to perfection.... i was sold at that point, but the food was just as good!!!!!! We found a nice spot to have dinner with friends or date night! We sat in the main dining room this time, but plan to sit in the wine bar next visit.
French terroir cuisine with great wine selection!!
Went on a Friday night and had a great evening with friends. We could hear each other and licked our plates clean. Wine was excellent, chilled just right. Almond trout and steak dishes were delicious. Went upstairs to the bar above for after dinner drinks. Not flashy or new, just a solid, great neighborhood place.
Been dining here for decades. The food feels a little worn, kind of like the menus themselves. It was pretty much the same as the last time i was there in early Spring. I had sweetbreads which were well prepared but the sauce was heavy and overpowered the delicate flavor of the sweetbreads. two of my companions had the cassoulet and pronounced it xcellent. A creme brulee tasted a bit burnt. However, the service was lovely, the space is terrific and it is truly my neighborhood French restaurant. Nice wine list with some well priced selections. We had a Chateau Laffitte Teston from the Madiran, a very satisfying red that reminds me of Burgundy at a better price point. Of course I'll come back, but it would be nice to see some new ideas from the chef. I suspect that would be good for those in the kitchen too.
Wonderful dining experience. No pressure to rush through a meal. Service was attentive, but not overly so. Food was delicious. Onion Tart, Frisée salad with bacon, salmon in potato crust and casserole of white beans with duck. Scrumptious! Great wine list too.
Charming French restaurant in Georgetown. One of the few places that offered Tournedos Rossini. Cooked to perfection. Staff were attentive, friendly, and charming. Great dining experience.
Our dinner at 6:30 p.m. on ground floor dining room was a total pleasure, as usual. My family and friends love Bistrot Lepic for lunch, dinner, and (upstairs on Monday & Wednesday) evening entertainment. The calves’s brains special in early July may not be to everyone’s taste but it is silky smooth and delicious. The seasonal soft-shell crabs were crunchy and bursting with flavor. With wine by the glass and half-bottle, as well as the larger full bottle offerings, there’s a size that fits any oenophile’s preference.
Every trip to this authentic French bistrot has been a pleasure. See for yourself.
Simply the best Always consistent and great staff
