This is a little gem to find. The food is classic French food and delicious. I would eat here five nights a week.
Wow! What a great find! My husband and I were in the area for the weekend and found this place on Open Table. My husband and I enjoyed a fantastic meal. I had the Salade frisee aux lardons and the Veal Kidney (it was out of comfort zone, but very delicious!) and my husband enjoyed Foie gras and the Tournedos Rossini. The service was attentive yet relaxed and we did not feel rushed at all, even as the restaurant filled. We ended the meal with incredible desserts Ile flottante and Beignets.
We always love this place. This time we brought a friend who'd never had Cassoulet and he loved it! I had the liver and it was, as usual, delicious. Love everything about Bistot Lepic.
I don’t understand why opentable requested bar seating for me. We asked for a table in the dining room when we arrived and were accommodated for only 1.25 hours, which was fine, but I did not request bar seating when I made the reservation.
A favorite of mine. The food is always good, the service also. It is a fun place to dine!
Went for brunch at 11. Selection was slim for brunch and it was very quiet as I get the sense this is more of a dinner place. Food and service were good though so I’d be willing to return for a nice dinner with wine.
We went to the wine bar on a cold Wed night to hear the jazz trio and have dinner. Such a cozy, warming place. Staff very attentive, great food and a nice beer/wine list. Not too fancy upstairs, more like a local cafe and very comfortable. Have been several times to hear the music and have eaten lunch in the more formal downstairs - just a wonderful place all around.
Wonderful as always
Have eaten here many times. The restaurant is literally around the corner from my house and it is very reliable. Many welcome French standards and always a couple of new opportunities on the menu. On this visit I had the salmon and scallop in a phylo wrap served over spinach. it was nicely prepared but I'm not likely to order it again. Better to stick to some of the standards like rognons that the chef does so well.
Always an excellent dining experience to eat at Bistro Lepic. We started out with two expertly crafted grey goose martinis. She had the escargot as an appetizer, I had an excellent frise salad with beets. Entrees, she liver cooked to perfection and I had the quail on a bed of risotto. Took advantage of a wonder split bottle of Chateau Nuf de Pape. Topped it all off with double espressos. We were seated upstairs, first time in my many visits, and found it as enjoyable as dining downstairs.
Terrific food and service, as always. Never disappoints.
We hadn't been to this restaurant in a while, and it's even better than we remembered. The fish dishes were beautifully prepared, and the poulet fermier au curry was delicious.
We have been going to Bistrot Lepic for 20 years, and we have never had a meal there (lunch or dinner that was not very good or outstanding.
We had a great time here! Excellent food and ambiance, and great restaurant week menu!
The food was fabulous; unfortunately, the service and ambiance were not. Our 2-person table was squeezed between two others with less than a foot on either side (very apparent that we were at half of what is normally a 4-person table that was split to accommodate two separate couples). This, and the overall noise level (~ 90dB per Soundprint app) made it quite difficult to have a conversation. We had to ask repeatedly for basic things like refills of water and more bread. The wine list is impressive, but it was impossible to have a meaningful conversation about it with the quiet-voiced waitress due to noise level and the crowded table setup that prevented her from being next to our table. I recommend ensuring you are NOT seated at a "squeezed" table if you dine here; there are other options, but none were open when we were seated and we had already waited 20 min beyond our reservation time. Probably best to come here on a less popular night; we came on a Friday of DC Restaurant Week.
This is the second time we dined there and we were pleased each time. We had the restaurant week 3 course dinner. There were many appetizers and entrees to choose from. Each course was delicious and the portions were ample.
It was a Wednesday and jazz night at the restaurant. We were happy that we dined downstairs, because upstairs in the wine bar there was live entertainment and it was very loud.
Salmon and salads were good. Beef with foie gras not as good.
This is our go-to restaurant for anniversaries and birthdays. The food is always great. This time we found that it was DC Restaurant Week, an unexpected bonus. We ordered from the Restaurant Week menu, added a glass of wine for each of us and had a wonderful meal. The server was attentive, without being intrusive.
Very nice unpretentious restaurant. And the food is great.
It is a very enjoyable place. the food is excellent, the wine choices are good but not unnecessarily large and the service is good and pleasant.
Excellent experience all around
A really wonderful cozy restaurant with delicious food
Delightfully old-fashioned classic French cuisine and a lovely place for lunch with an old friend.
We were allowed to share a glass of sancerre (neither of us wanted a full glass of wine) served in 2 glasses, a nice favor. Prices are on the high side but food is worth it.
Always very pleased with the food, service, and environment.
Wonderful food in a warm and pleasant setting. Always look to it for a "French" fix ... love the rognon de veau.
We love Bistrot L’Epic! They made New Year’s Eve very festive.
We ate here with our friends on New Year’s Eve and loved the experience. The food was delicious; the service was attentive; and the atmosphere was festive but not too loud. We definitely are coming back! The artichoke soup, swordfish, beef tournedos, and sea bream were superb. We also enjoyed the modestly priced Côtes du Rhône.
Always a great experience
Bistrot Lepic is just so dependable. The food is always delicious and the service is just right in the cozy and warm main dining room (note: it is a small place so I do mean cozy). The upstairs bar and dining area has live music weekly and the "house" jazz group takes you back to the Paris (or NY) of mid-century. It is surprisingly easy to park nearby, given we are talking Georgetown. Great place for a special occasion or just a nice romantic dinner.
The atmosphere and food we're wonderful. I got the onion tart and my mom got the escargot for appetizers. The onion tart was phenomenal and the salad it came with was wonderfully dressed. My mom likes the escargot but felt that it was a little too heavy on the bread crumbs. I got the lamb shank special and my mother got the trout and both were phenomenal. For dessert we had the floating islands and it couldn't have been a better end to a great meal. The staff was attentive but we never felt rushed, our dishes came out in a timely fashion and we had a wonderful time. We will definitely be returning.
We were at the restaurant for lunch the day after Christmas so only three tables were occupied resulting in a very quiet atmosphere. The food was excellent as was the service. This was not my first time there and the only difference at night is the increased level of noise.
Xmas dinner was nice although a few choices were missing in the fixed price menu and although we arrived at8pm we felt a bit time pressured. Bûches in dessert were below average quality of food
Food and service were fine. The atmosphere and furniture arrangement were to no satisfaction. Very crammed, felt claustrophobic in a way of personal space. Will not return .
As always, superb, beautiful, and friendly. Perfect. Merry Christmas! :)
Christmas menu overpriced. No warning on open table for no option.
Quality average minus
Our family goes out on Christmas Eve to celebrate a birthday and in the past we didn't always find restaurants open that provided a memorable experience and great food -- but Bistro Lepic does! Tremendously helpful wine and food staff, beautifully prepared dishes, no one rushing us though they surely were eager to get home themselves. A SUPERB experience!
Took my in-laws out for a nice pre-Christmas celebration and, as always, the food, service and overall ambience was fantastic!
Lunch: Two large scallops cut horizontally to look like four. Greasy ginger and ??? for a side. Seriously??? The bread was delicious. And my friend enjoyed the veal kidneys.
Fabulous dining experience - fun lounge chair option - Ted was amazingly accommodating, professional and fun!
This is a neighborhood restaurant that never fails to please. Whenever I have guests from out of town I bring them here and they always love it and ask to return on subsequent visits.
