Bistrot La Minette is the realization of Chef Peter Woolsey's dream that began a decade ago during his earliest days studying in France: to create a restaurant that would share his love of the authentic bistrot experience with his fellow Philadelphians.Chef Peter pays great respect to the traditional dishes that he creates and honors the classical French methods required to achieve unparalleled bistrot cuisine. Both savory and pastry menus are ever evolving to reflect the seasons, the availability of the best ingredients and the inspiration of the chef. They are drawn from the various regions of France and the multitude of delicacies that each has to offer. The service is both efficient and warm, rooted in a foundation of hospitality and caring for our guests.
Our goal is for Bistrot La Minette to be accessible to all guests that enjoy superb food and wine, and the company of their companions: hoping to evoke their best memories-or dreams-of traditional French bistrot dining.

LaMinette is an authentic French Bistro located within walking distance to Center City. The space is narrow and the tables are close together. My family had dinner on a Sunday night when family style 3 course pre fixe is $25. We ordered a arugla/ beet salad, roasted chicken and mousse cake. We ordered escargot to share. A carafe of house Pinot noir was $23. Food was above average, service attentive, and priced very reasonably.

Let me just preface this review by saying I’m not a huge French food fan. But my husband and I wanted to branch out and friends had recommended this place in the past. The restaurant itself is very charming and the atmosphere was lively. Our wait staff was cool but professional. I started with the beet salad, which was tasty but not very creative. Sweet beets on a small bed of mixed greens. For entrees, I ordered the scallop dish and my husband the beef Bourguinon. The scallops were served in a very tart sauce along with mushrooms, Brussels sprouts and a vegetable unknown to me. It was very small and extremely sour. So that, coupled with the very tart sauce, made for an extremely nauseating dish. I tasted the beef entree and it was tasty, but nothing exquisite. We had hoped the desserts would make up for the meal. My husband was sent the wrong dessert and what I ordered was not what was described on the menu. Perhaps the evening was just full of poor choices but I doubt we will be back.

Bistrot La Minette is wonderful. I booked for Valentine’s Day and I unfortunately have one major problem. I could not find the Valentine’s Day menu posted anywhere online. I went in with the assumption that they would offer their tasting menu. They were not. We ended up getting the lobster dish and the filet which were both wonderful. We ended our meal with the caramel tart which was pretty good. Who reads this? The restaurant, OpenTable staff, or OpenTable users? I just realized “Tell us about your experience” might not mean a public review. Does OpenTable Staff read this? The meal was pretty good tho.

We went for Valentines Day and the restaurant rose to the occasion. Our server was very helpful and the room was lovely. I chose this restaurant because they have cassoulet, a favorite dish of my husband, and he really liked it. So, lovely evening.

Lovely ambience, exceptional food from appetizer to dessert. Too many restaurants have waitstaffs that are "amateur hour." We've eaten at many fine restaurants here and abroad and this waitstaff was up there with the best. Able to answer all questions about the menu in depth. Very, very attentive and they are constantly looking around to see if anyone requires something regardless if it is their table or not.
From walking in the door to ending the evening, everything was first class. Did I mention that the food was wonderful and creative.
It's become one of our favorites. Very highly recommended.

The overall review score dropped significantly over the course of the evening. Even though we made our reservation several days in advance, we were in a table right next to the front door, where a long line of queued diners stood waiting for their seats for most of out meal. The service attended to us as soon as we sat down to get drinks and appetizers, but dropped off almost immediately after. We had to ask the bus staff or hostess to get our server for almost all service after the appetizers : to order dinner, order dessert, get the check, and pick up our payment after getting the check.

With how frustrating the service was, almost all of the food was excellent. I forget everything we had - definitely the rabbit, scallops, soup, and escargot. The only thing that was subpar was the tarte, which was both small and the pastry tasted mass produced.

Truly authentic French food. Don’t be fooled by anyone else... The owner incorporates every dish and wine from France through multiple trips to and from a year. From the crockery the snails are in, to each wine... everything is from France.

I was happy to return to this cozy bistro on a cold night. It was especially great with the service as attentive as one would hope for and the over all mean was delicious, as always. I love how consistent this restaurant is. I highly recommend it to anyone.

I've been to Bistrot la Minette a few times. The food is consistently fantastic. There was only one time when we had a waitress who seemed unhappy and was not attentive. Otherwise, service is usually very friendly and food comes at a relaxed pace, but not too relexed--I'm pretty impatient when waiting for food but it normally comes before I get annoyed, and is always worth whetever wait there was. I have some dietary restrictions, but the chef is very accommodating! I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything when I am presented with a beautifully prepared, delicious dish that doesn't feel like many components have been substituted. Also, never skip dessert here!

We had a delicious meal on a quiet Tuesday evening. The Boucher à la Reine, the beet salad, the trout meunière, and the raspberry mille-feuilles were all excellent, and the service was friendly and attentive. We'll be back.

I previewed other reviews before going, and they were all excellent. Upon going, we were NOT disappointed. My Oeuf de la Pecheur was the highlight with the tarragon cream sauce. I could have eaten three of these and died happy!! The interior noise was at a minimum since we dined early (6:30) on a Monday. Very happy - and plan to return!

Enjoyed our meal on Saturday night. Two guest at our table had the lapin and raved about it. The veal stew was also a hit. Don't pass on desserts. All choices were excellent.

I have heard great things about this restaurant from several friends and am delighted that we finally went. Our server was delightful and the food was excellent. I was a bit surprised that it was not very crowded on a Thur eve but it was a great experience and we will definitely return.
