About Bistrot La Minette
Bistrot La Minette is the realization of Chef Peter Woolsey's dream that began a decade ago during his earliest days studying in France: to create a restaurant that would share his love of the authentic bistrot experience with his fellow Philadelphians.Chef Peter pays great respect to the traditional dishes that he creates and honors the classical French methods required to achieve unparalleled bistrot cuisine. Both savory and pastry menus are ever evolving to reflect the seasons, the availability of the best ingredients and the inspiration of the chef. They are drawn from the various regions of France and the multitude of delicacies that each has to offer. The service is both efficient and warm, rooted in a foundation of hospitality and caring for our guests.
Our goal is for Bistrot La Minette to be accessible to all guests that enjoy superb food and wine, and the company of their companions: hoping to evoke their best memories-or dreams-of traditional French bistrot dining.

Bistrot La Minette Ratings and Reviews
Outstanding food and service "right in my backyard." I walked past the restaurant many times before I ever tried it because I knew nothing about it; never heard anyone talk about it, etc. Finally, I purchased a coupon which allowed me to try it at a bargain price, and I did that. It was a wonderful experience, and I've been back a few times since then.
The food is delicious; plating is a treat to the eyes; and the service is superb.
I felt transported to France. The decor and the servers uniforms were very French as was the menu, of course. The servers were very attentive but not hovering. The menu offered a wide varietyof choices and vegitarian options were offered. There was nothing common or mundane on the menu. It was more on the adventurous side. The food looked good and tasted delicious. We are definitely returning and hoping the weather will cooperate so that we can dine in the garden.
The food was good, although some first courses were ridiculously small -- and I often find portions too large. Bread was outstanding. Menu was quite small, but sometimes that's good. Good to find frogs legs and rabbit plus lots of things one doesn't see too often here. Good try.
We were truly impressed by our dining experience at Bistrot La Minette. They managed to bring a bit of real Paris to Philly. Bravo. To start, the drink selection was great, they had a good selection of french beers, liqour and wines. The food was exceptional, from the appetizers through the dessert,we wish we could've eaten more, but we didn't want to make cochons of ourselves. Last but not least, Thank you to the staff, for being professional and knowledgable. We would definetly go back.
What a wonderful spot - exceptional French bistro cuisine that is not what you will find at any place in town, in a charming setting with terrific service. No reservations about recommending this charming place. Menu highlights for me include grilled sardines, escargot in adorable individual pottery cups, anything with rabbit ( the man is a genius with things that are braised), frogs legs. You really can't go wrong. A special the other night of brandade was perfectly salty goodness.
My classic French meal - 1)appetizer: a tiny zucchini (courgettes) omelette was light as a feather 2) entree: frog's legs - haven't had them in ages, nicely sauteed and 3) dessert: clafouti ( baked custard with cherries ) was excellent; a very good martini started me off, too.
I think the other three at my table got fish, and were disappointed at the blandness. ( need sauces?) So, I chose well!
I was glad to see they had a nice crowd ( a Friday)
Everything, as usual, was wonderful. The restaurant differentiates its menu, providing interesting and different selections, but the results are never too far out or threatening, but always exciting and delicious. This place really has its act together; it clearly is one of the best small restaurants in Philadelphia.
My Wife Dr. Maryann is a Vegetarian and was very delighted that 1 Vegetarian was among the 3 Main Courses for Bastille Day 4 Courses Dinner on July 14, 2012. Dr. Maryann travels to Paris, France and experiences difficulty to secure Vegetarian dishes. Dr. Maryann said that in her Travels to 48 Countries on 5 Continents, She will Rate " Bistrot La Minette " as # 1 and South Africa # 2 for Excellent Vegetarian Dishes. Her Husband Dr. Shamir was ALSO delighted with the 4 Courses Served, and the Service was Superb. Attendants Clothing were in Red, White and Blue colors. The only negative is the very limited parking and the narrow streets in the area.
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful, romantic dinner for two at Bistrot la Minette to celebrate my birthday. Overall, it was a delicious, high-end dining experience in a very fun, casual environment. There was a special menu for Bastille Day, four courses for $40. Everything was fantastic, and the wait staff was super attentive and friendly. We sat outside in the adorable little patio and stayed after our meal to watch a French movie being played on an outdoor screen.
I would highly recommend Bistrot la Minette for a fun night out with friends or a date night. Definitely going back!
We fell in love with BLM three years ago and have enjoyed many wonderful meals there ever since. However, last Friday's dinner, the special Bastille Day dinner, was the best yet. Peter seems to be getting even better. Both soups were superb. The main courses were also superb. But it was the twelve or fourteen choice second course buffet that set this evening apart. This was as good as it gets. Standing bravos to all at Bistrot La Minette for an extraordinary evening.
This is our favorite neighborhood bistro, and while they've changed their menu, they still have wonderful French dishes we can't get anywhere else, for reasonable prices, including rabbit, frogs' legs, and snails. We ordered several things from the small plate menu to share, and will go back asap to try their new escargot with bone marrow appetizer! My apricot tart was particularly good, and they still serve their excellent house wine in an earthenware pitcher, just like in France. Great place to take out-of-town guests if you want to impress them without spending hundreds of dollars!
The woman and I went for french movie night on a monday. If you sit in the back area outside there is a screen and a projector where a French movie is played. It was nice to relax in back and enjoy a film while dining. The food was delicious, I was really impressed by the ratatouille and the snails were fantastic. Our server could have been slightly more attentive but he was trying to juggle all the tables and get the projector working on time so it wasn't a big deal. He also tried very hard to serve us while not interfering with other guest's viewing of the film so +1 for that. All in all a nice experience and I'd definitely return. Also of note: fair beer prices.
When we went there was a special 4 course menu prepare by the chef, so we both got that. All courses were excellent and featured things we would have never pocked by ourselves. Great way to experience new flavors. Our waitress was very nice and explained everything to us. We would definitely return.
We have been to Bistrot La Minette a number of times and have always had a wonderful experience. The wait staff has always been wonderful and the food has never disappointed us. We went for brunch with 6 people this past Sunday and had the complete opposite experience. There were only two other tables seated and it took us over 2 hours to order, get appetizers and then entrees. Service was non-existent and the food was quite disappointing. Unfortunately, I don't think we will be going back to what was once a favorite restaurant.
Not sure why all the glowing hype. Food was competent but not wowing. I had the artichoke entree, and its blandness approached tastelessness. My wife's entree was good. Dessert was terrific. Banquette seating in the main room is nice, but parties are placed way to close to each other.
