Located in Dupont Circle in Washington, D.C., Bistrot Du Coin serves up delicious French cuisine. Its very relaxed setting features picnic-style table cloths and a second floor to accommodate a packed house. Owners Yannis Felix and Michel Verdon opened Bistrot Du Coin's doors in 2000 for patrons to converse and have fun while enjoying their meals. It offers hearty starters such as French onion soup and fresh, crisp salads, steamed mussels and sautéed foie gras. Veal stew in a creamy sauce, braised chicken in white wine and pan-seared salmon topped with a fresh herb sauce are filling main courses to try.

I moved nearby recently and have been wanting to check this place out. I found the food to be very tasty and although I have only traveled to France a few times close to what I had eaten there. They served warm bread which was very fresh. My Mom had the french onion soup which she loved. I had the steak frites which I asked to be cooked well done, and came out well done (often they are not). She ordered the cheese ravioli which was very rich and buried in cheese. The only reason I did not give it an across the board 5 was that the service was very slow in between courses, it was friendly but slow and the noise level is very high so if you are looking to have a conversation or maybe someone who has a hard time hearing you may struggle.

This was our second visit to Bistroit du Coin. The food is very good, althought some dishes are better than others. The Beef Stew was delicious, as was the Salmon. This time we tried the Beef Bourguignon and it was sweet, which is odd, and not enough sauce. I really love the food and the service is excellent. The only drawback is that the noise level is loud, the people speak loudly to be heard over the loud music, and overall that is annoying. Not atypical for DC restaurants, but I think the music getting louder makes people speak louder, and then I can't hear the person across the table from me without shouting. Turn off the music or very low, so we don't have to shout to be heard less than 2ft a way.

As soon as we walked person at the door was very rude telling me i dont have a reservation, while i’m looking at my phone and i see one ! And acting like he’s doing me favor by giving me a table! I went there to eat and have a good time not to deal with rude people during the process.

I arrived 15 minutes early because Bistrot du Coin is so popular it gets packed every night. Excellent value, and a good menu — you’ll feel as if you’re on Tbe Left Bank in Paris in this great neighborhood bistro. Once it’s full it is noisy. Good for socializing and laughing it up but a business dinner where conversation is important, having one could be a challenge.

We originally had reservations at another French restaurant (the latest/greatest), but it was a bit too late for us. So we talked to a new acquaintance who is a foodie and he said he likes Bistrot du Coin better. So we made the reservation and wow were we pleased! Everything we had was just mouth watering. From the start of the meal with literally the best bread I have ever had. Every meal tasted extraordinary. The wine was exceptional and we ended with one of the best Crème brûlées I’ve ever had! Would go back in a second the next time I come to town. Thank you. Thank you to the staff!

Love the ambiance and space. Food was great! Hoping to come back when menu is back to pre covid options! Incredibly slow service but it was a packed Friday night. Restrooms upstairs were in disrepair and need a place for “setting” things down not on the floor.

Normally I love the beef filet but it wasn’t prepared the way I wanted it. I ordered medium and it was delivered rare. After I sent it back, it came back charred on the outside and still slightly rare. I’ll definitely go back, hopefully this was just a glitch. Berrnaise sauce and fries were impeccable as always.

First time at this restaurant and the food and service were great! Tried the French Onion Soup (always been my favorite soup) and it was very tasty and savory. Has a very nice thyme flavor and not overly salty like some restaurants can be. Then I had the Beef Bourguignon. Not your usual served with potatoes, this dish is served with pasta and makes it a whole different experience. The beef was super tender and finishes with a beautiful red wine flavor. Highly recommended! The restaurant has a wonderful ambiance, you feel like your in a French cafe off the beaten path. Overall great experience and a must visit for great food in DC.
