Bistrot Du Coin
Located in Dupont Circle in Washington, D.C., Bistrot Du Coin serves up delicious Belgian and French cuisine. Its very relaxed setting features picnic-style table cloths and a second floor to accommodate a packed house. Owners Yannis Felix and Michel Verdon opened Bistrot Du Coin's doors in 2000 for patrons to converse and have fun while enjoying their meals. It offers hearty starters such as French onion soup and fresh, crisp salads, steamed mussels and sautéed foie gras. Veal stew in a creamy sauce, braised chicken in white wine and pan-seared salmon topped with a fresh herb sauce are filling main courses to try.
Bistrot Du Coin hosts parties to celebrate popular French events throughout the year, and it serves brunch on the weekend with its own menu. This restaurant has an extensive wine list, but also offers cocktails and apéritif. It is open year-round and welcomes reservations.
The peach 🍑 desert is exquisite! Highly recommend.
Food was very good although my rib eye was wildly oversalted. Fine value. Very accommodating.
The steaks were inconsistently cooked. Service was good.
As always, superb dinner and good service. We come here for my husbands birthday and it never disappoints. The salads are perfectly dressed, the escargot is always tender, the mussels normande is our new fav. We had to get a bread refill just to soak up the goodness! Wait staff is well trained and anticipate what we need before we know we want or need it.
Bistro Du Coin is always a favorite. We go for the curry mussel pot, but the steak frites is lovely too. Cozy, bustling atmosphere. Our French server was quite salty, but somehow she added to the charm. :)
I will start by saying I am French and had been looking forward to trying out Bistro du Coin for a while. The food quality was sub-par. The cheese plate is extremely overpriced (over $15 for 4 very thin and tiny pieces of cheese) - you can find much better value elsewhere. The duck confit I ordered was barely confit (and therefore overly fatty) and the side of potatoes was nothing special. The mussels other members of my party ordered were very mediocre being too dry and lacking of broth. The desserts were okay. The only redeeming aspects of Bistro du Coin are that you can get a good bottle of wine for under $40 and that the ambiance is nice. Everyone in our large party had a mediocre to bad experience and I ended up with food indigestion. There are much better options for French dining in DC.
Excellent food; inexpensive. Good service. Great location.
Buzzing and energetic French bistro with excellent mussels, Steak Frites and other specialties of the cuisine.
Attentive and helpful waitstaff - great value - a fun place!
Very poor and rude service
Love this place and take people there every chance I get. It was a quiet night, so the wait staff was attentive without being intrusive. The food was great.
Food is amazing and the service is very nice!
Great French Bistro
A classic staple of the Dupont Circle dining scene, this place offers casual French in a neighborhood setting. Great service, consistent quality food.
Mussels are very good but the fillet and fries were sub-par. French fries were greasy and cold, steaks had a burnt flavor and were stringy. Le Diplomat is far superior.
We didn’t get a great table. We ended up inches from the neighbor table. It felt crammed in and like we were sitting with other people. Food was ok. Some of it was great and some of it was bad. Maybe it was an off night? I’m not sure if we will return.
Our food was amazing and tasted very authentic! One guest in our party had the sweet breads and she raved about them for days. I had the steak and potatoes and it melted in my mouth. I would definitely come here again.
This is a fine neighborhood restaurant in the Dupont Circle area. We always enjoy the mussels, which are prepared in a variety of ways. It's always busy, noisy; on our last visit the service was a bit slow and the prices seemed higher than previously for what we got.
Very good French restaurant, best French onion soap I had in years , great food , great service , great value
Arrived on Christmas evening to see restaurant full and busy. We were seated promptly. Ordered mushroom soup as shared appetizer. Delicious but not hot. A 1/2 hour after soup we inquired about our entrees. He waiter brought us complimentary wine and said the kitchen had lost our order. We then waited another 1/2 hour for our dinner. I ordered the stuffed turkey special. It was dry and served barely warm, but I was too hungry to send it back. Overall disappointing experience.
Christmas dinner. Great experience.
It’s a reliable local. Just what was needed on a pre-holiday, chilly Friday.
Office Christmas party. Everyone had a wonderful time.
Food was great, especially the French onion soup. Love their salad dressing. Definitely would recommend!
Very French feel.
The service was horrible, we were never given bread plates, the food didn’t seem to have been made freshly, the wine was clearly watered down, and it took 27 minutes after asking for the check to get it
I just love the vibe, feels like Paris. I have been many times and always had a good experience. I've sampled almost the entire menu and it's all solid. Steaks, mussels, ravioli's. The merguez sausage is excellent. Wine is good and moderately priced. If you're not into the Paris vibe, you'll probably find it "pretty good" but not re-visit worthy with so many other places to try in DC. For wine and cheese or a full meandering dinner, this place is my DC go-to!
I would call this restaurant a hidden gem, but apparently it was hidden only from me. A true gem hidden right out in the open. The food was incredible, unpretentious, generous. We had mussels, a specialty served many different ways. Wonderful. We had onion soup. The best I have ever eaten. We had a nice bottle of Oregon Pinot noir priced surprisingly low for the vintage and quality. I was pleased, and will return. Make reservations. This place is not hidden!
Always fun but too noisy. Any way to put in some sound absorption?
There were ten of us at the table. All our orders were perfectly executed, and the food was terrific. The waiter could not have been pleasanter and more accommodating--giving us separate checks in various combinations. We have been here several times in parties of 4-10, have never been disappointed, and will continue to visit Bistrot. Thanks!
Classic French cafe vibe ; the service is excellent and the food is excellent.
Fabulous recommendation from a friend. The food was amazing and perfect. Our server was excellent and provided extra special treatment since it was my Birthday!
The menu choices were authentic but the execution was only mediocre. Atmosphere was nice and the service attentive. This is not the best French bistro food by a long shot. Chat Noir in Tenley is much better
Such a fun experience. The place was hopping on a Monday night!
As usual Bistrot du Coin never disappoints. Food was outstanding, service and ambiance excellent.
Awesome so fun
Easily the best French restaurant in DC-highly recommend to anyone who enjoys French cuisine and wine!
This place is amazing. Food is phenomenal and atmosphere is perfect.
Terrific place for a group celebration. Attentive service and delicious food.
Always and still my favourite hangout at Dupont. Yummy cocktails and wines, a million traditional options. Not a quiet crowd! We share the merryment loudly here. Will keep coming back! Highest recommendation.
