bistronomic Ratings and Reviews
We came here for my bestie’s birthday. The traffic was so bad that day because of parade on Michigan Ave so we were late for almost an hour. I felt very sorry but the host made us feel very welcome and sat us right away. Everything was so tasty and the chef even gave us a complimentary lemon tart for my friend’s birthday. Service is great. A lot of the staff here are European, according to their accent. :) a truly French experience in Chi(c) town
On a recent Friday night at Bistronomic, the food was exquisite, and the overall experience made us feel truly pampered. From the moment you walk in the door, you are greeted warmly, and the hostess, chef, and others visit your table periodically to make sure you are well taken care of. The restaurant was full, yet service was professional and relaxed and timing was perfect. Crusty french bread and the wine we ordered arrived without delay. The chef, who is French, is a wizard with classic French dishes, adding his own unique and modern touches. Our roasted chicken was superb, as were the endive and kale salad with crunchy nuts and blue cheese and the gnocchi enriched with chicken (we think). The chef has added a new dessert to the menu - a crepe with apples and ice cream that was mouth watering. All the desserts here are excellent - again classics with a twist - with flavors we can relate to and enjoy rather than hodge-podges of strange ingredients that don't come together or satisfy at the end of a meal. Bistronomic is a restaurant well worth enjoying. You will feel special even if you are not there for a special occasion.
Understaffed and unaware. Asked for them to not put pate on the burger but it came out with it. Brought to their attention and it came back 2 minutes later with it scraped off. Said there was no way they could have remade it (a burger takes longer than 2 minutes) but I took chance anyway and halfway through some of it was on the other half! The manager said they remade it and I told her that was impossible because there would be no pate on it if they had remade it.
No water or coffee for the first 10-15 minutes (had to ask twice). Overheard the people next to me say, "....they screwed up his order too".
No amount of bottomless mimosas would have helped.
Disappointing experience overall. Waitstaff didn’t seem very knowledgeable and I had to send my undercooked food back. My date’s steak frites was just average and seemed like an inferior cut of meat. There are much better French bistros in the area that I’d recommend over Bistronomic.
The hostesses were so kind and helpful as we waited for our table. The food was FANTASTIC, I need more stars to rate the amazing cuisine. The sauces were seasoned to perfection and the meal was everything we were hoping for on our first visit. Chef made his way around the restaurant a couple times to make sure the customers were enjoying his kitchens culinary master pieces. Our waitress was rather unattentive which made us feel we were an inconvenience or after thought however we weren’t there for her. We would definitely eat here again because the food and atmosphere made the dinner special. Thanks chef!
I had dinner with 3 of my girlfriends. Between us, we sampled the fish special (whitefish), the steak frites, and the scallops. To a person, we were each happy with our entrees. Desserts included the apple crepe and the almond joy special - portions were modest and we could easily have each had our own. However, both were delicious. Prices are reasonable and we will definitely return.
We went for our anniversary. We chose this restaurant because of the reviews and the proximity to our hotel. We were extremely satisfied with our experience! From the hostess, to the chef who stopped at our table multiple times! The Prix Frie menu was amazing for the price!! I would recommend it to anyone and will go back on our next trip to Chicago.
Warm welcome, great & friendly service and delicious food! The portions are just right, the food fresh & flavorful, the steak prepared to perfection and I felt like I was getting the VIP treatment! Just wish the beef tartar was a standing item on the menu. I had it in summer and still dream about it.
I have been to Bistronomic several times over the years, and I have found it to be consistently very good. We had cauliflower veloute (nicely embellished with Parmesan and croutons), pate (a generous portion that could be shared), salmon with potato salad, and butternut squash ravioli. All were quite good. Desserts were profiteroles with intense chocolate sauce and the lemon tart. Nice wine list.
We read a lot of good things about Bistronomic and it lived up to its reviews. We both had the Prix Fixe dinner (great value) and an extra appetizer. Attentive, friendly service and great food. We felt welcome and enjoyed every minute. A great overall experience.
Bistronomic is on Phil Vettel’s most recent list of 50 Best Restaurants in Chicago! It is deservedly so! Our waiter, Ilir, was very personable and attended to our every wish, from seating, cocktail creation, description of the specials and menu, wine selection, and impeccable service. The escargot was delicious, and our entrees, Amish Chicken and Rack of Lamb, were superb! Our desserts, an Apple Tort and Creme Brûlée, were outstanding! The double espresso was so very smooth. We hope to return after our next opera... or sooner! If you enjoy French cuisine, you MUST dine at Bistronomic!
Love the food. Our server, Stephanie was awful. She either had a very bad off night, or she is not cut out for this type of work. Errors in both drink and food orders and lengthy delay before even acknowledging our presence, taking drink orders, delivery of drinks.
We enjoyed a pre-theater dinner early on a Saturday evening. The service was outstanding, as well as the care from management/owners. As the restaurant began to fill, the noise level naturally increased, however, it was never over whelming. The Prix Fix option has very good options. I highly recommend bistronomic and will return in the future.
We went here for a Friday afternoon lunch date. The food was excellent and they richly deserve their "Best Burger" title. The Croque Madam ha one of the best Mornay sauces I have had in a while. Our hostess/server team went above and beyond to make sure that we had a great experience. We will certainly be back.
We had a family dinner at Bistronomic with our two kids, 8 and 11. Good cocktails, firendly and appropriate service, delightful food and a strong wine list. They were very welcoming, and from our seats, we could see they make a lot of regulars just as welcome.
Wonderful meal in a beautiful setting. Great food and service. I have never had scallops so beautifully prepared. Thank you. I would highly recommend this restaurant....and I think I have already told ten friends about this wonderful place! We will be back.
The food at this french bistro-style restaurant is delicious. Expertly prepared and beautifully presented. We especially enjoyed the escargot and the mussels and the tuna tartar.
Our server tended to try to rush us, almost to the point of being annoying. Once we made it clear we were not in a hurry, the evening took on a more relaxed pace. Kudos to the bartender for mixing excellent martinis and drinks. The wine list was also very reasonably priced.
