Bistronomic is a small restaurant with intimate seating. The décor is very nice, but the lighting is not so low that you have to pull out your phone to look at the menu. The service was good, but our server had some knowledge gaps about some of the menu items. Our food was excellent in presentation and taste. The portions were perfect. We did not leave hungry or stuffed. The prix fixe menu option was a bargain, but I would order off the full menu in a second. You can't go wrong at this wonderful French restaurant.
Service was great and the owners/chef/hostess were very personable. The neighboring table was quite loud, but after they left we were better able to carry on a conversation. The cauliflower soup was amazing! It has French overtones but isn't a purely French menu and not a classic French Bistro. Worth visiting.
Noisy; food great.
We had dinner here with my college-age son and his girlfriend, and we all enjoyed the experience and our meals. I had made a reservation for 6:00 pm and we were early, but they had no issue seating us. I had stone bass, my husband the mussels, my son the steak au poivre, and his girlfriend short-rib ravioli, and they all were delicious. Service was attentive but not overbearing. And the desserts were terrific--get the chocolate-topped creme brulee! Wine list was a bit pricey but we enjoyed our bottle of Oregon Pinot Noir. Would definitely return.
Fantastic food, great service and cozy ambience.
Great food! But the company was the best!
This was my second time & it didn’t disappoint. Portions are the right size, quality is unmatched and the bread is out of this world. Their Prix Fixe menu is a great value.
The service is friendly but also extremely courteous and polite. The food is absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is very relaxing.
Really quite night but the meal was pretty good.
Service was slow, but they were surprised on how many people showed up... Food was very good. My Eggs Benedict, eggs were over cooked, but the owner/chef who was walking around appreciated the feedback & sent a free dessert to make up for it! Others in my group had no issues... We would give it a good review!
Kudos, everything was Superb!
We tried this restaurant on a Saturday evening and were pleasantly surprised to enjoy the food, service and the ability to have a conversation! Everything we ordered was tasty. We would go back.
A lovely French "Neighborhood Joint". Straightforward bistro menu, great hostess and wait staff, incredibly reasonable pricing. Appeared to have a nice group of "regulars" who know a good thing when they find one. Steak Frites, Poulet Roti were excellent. Across the street from Sofitel, so they have a discerning clientele who understand true bistro fare.
Third time here, brought my Dad here for dinner since he loves great food & cocktails. If you like Old Fashioneds, definitely order the Winter Star! Can't go wrong with anything you order here, as everything is fantastic, but I highly recommend the mussels, ahi tuna tartare and scallops - my dad said the mussels were the best he's had in his life. Service was excellent as always, will be coming back again and again :)
Loved the scallops and the escargot. Try the crème brûlée and the crepes! Friendly service. The chef even helped deliver our meal.
I cannot say enough good things about Bistronomic. They were exceptionally accommodating to my group. We had originally made reservations for a much larger number and reduced them that morning. We had even more people drop (never plan a brunch after a Gala) and the entire team was very accommodating. They didn't judge us for having fewer people and taking a larger table originally.
We had brunch and the mimosa special was wonderful. Huge shout out to our waiter who let us know that the special is only for 1.5 hours so we should wait for everyone to show up. I had the crepes and they were lovely. We also had the hamburger, croque madame, club, and waffles at our table. The fries were especially good and we can't complain about the food or service.
I will def. be returning and recommending Bistronomic.
Everything about this restaurant was excellent. We were greeted quickly and warmly and offered to check our coats. Our table for 6 was waiting for us. We were at the front of the restaurant near the revolving door and I was thankful that they put some curtains in front of the door to shield the breeze when the door was in use. Wine and cocktail selection was above average, pricing was good for the city. Charcuterie, cauliflower valoute and tuna tar tar were all excellent starters. The lobster fettuccine, whitefish and steak fries were all very good and priced very reasonably sub $30. The hazelnut bars and black and white creme brulee were yummy and the cappuccino topped the meal off nicely. Service was very good, she was very knowledgeable, gave great suggestions and was very attentive. My only negative was getting gratuity added on a party of 6. She earned the amount of the grat and probably more but right or wrong if they choose to grat a small party I limit my tipping to what they choose to grat.
What a such great sensorial experience!
It's a gorgeous place. Outstanding service.
Food is so delicious and tasty.
Everything was perfect.
Thank you to Chief Martial and his amazing wife.
Absolutely amazing food! From the basket of bread to the last bite of dessert, this was one of the best meals I have ever had. The potato gnocchi was especially delicious, and the scallops in the main entree were perfectly seared. I would come here again and again.
Our favorite neighborhood restaurant. Always good food, good service. We like the plate size options, easy to match our appetite.
Had a very good meal on a Thursday night in Feb. Excellent tuna tartare - excellent flavors. Really enjoyed the basil mussels as well. The steak frites was perfectly cooked with a very nice red wine reduction and hot frites. The only thing that kept this from a 5 star rating was that there weren't as many people in the restaurant as we like to see when we go for the first time. We hope there is a loyal following, and we'll be back in warmer weather to check it out again.
The service was outstanding as was the ravioli and soup. One of my friends said her sandwich was only 'OK". Also, her fries were too salty. The "cho----"beet salad was missing one of the kind of beets.
Whitefish perfectly grilled and delicious sauce. Good wine.
Went with two business associates and loved the food as well as the ambiance. We had the duck, which was fabulous, and the scallops, which were also very good. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Value was good considering that the presentations and quality of the dishes were excellent. We had wines by the glass that went well with our choices. I would recommend it especially for those who like French food.
Great place for dinner or brunch. Nice space, and good food. Menu is on the small side, but there should be something to please everyone. The bottomless brunch mimosas are a great deal, and our server made sure we didn't stay empty long.
I've been to Bistronomic for restaurant week and was blown away by how good the food was, so I brought a friend who had never been and was just as impressed. I had one of the best dinners I've ever had in my life (top 3 meals bar-none) and have already made reservations to treat my Dad to dinner, too! I ordered braised beef short rib ravioli (it was a special at the time) and it was so good I wanted to lick my plate clean. This is a great restaurant for foodies and date nights if you want to be impressed. The service was excellent - timely and very accommodating and friendly, and I love that Chef Martial came to everyone's table to be sure they were pleased with their food and to individually thank them. The ambience is quite sexy, but also perfect for intimate dinners with friends and family. I love that Bistronomic's menu is always changing based on what's in season, so I'll be coming back time and time again to sample what's new! HIGHLY recommend this restaurant; it's 100% worth the cost (which is pretty reasonable for the area, quality and experience) and is my quickly becoming my all-time favorite restaurant in Chicago!
Love this place. Great food — lovely chef and wife owners. Staff is great, too! Love Sheri and Eddy ( bartender, sommelier and inventor of cocktails). Always excited to have dinner at this happy place; never disappointed.
Happy 19th Birthday to my son
I had booked an incredibly last minute group of 20 via OpenTable and they were great about helping get space for such a large group. Furthermore, the staff in general were all kind, quick, and polite.
The brunch food is relatively cheaper in price when compared to their lunch and dinner menus and I would say it was ok at best. The portion sizes were small and the food itself didn’t really live up to what I expected. The drinks and burgers on the other hand were very good!
This was my first trip to Chicago, and I read online that bottomless mimosas were very popular here.
I wanted to find a place that was decently affordable, but also had great service and tasty menu options.
I found all of this at Bistronomic. There was ample seating, the waiting and hostess staff were very attentive and welcoming. I would definitely come back again.
The food was prepared exactly to order, and they kept the mimosas coming without asking. The drinks were not watered down, and the orange juice tasted very good.
10/10, keep up the good work!
Really enjoyed the scallops. My wife had the Amish chicken it was great as well.
Martial is one of the best chefs ever. Incredible food. Bistronomic has our highest recommendation.
Prefixed Valentine’s Day menu 3 courses
each course special in it’s own right
Ambiance- okay. We were seated in the back private
Dining room- I think the location effected service from the kitchen and only one server was assigned to this area
Highlight-the frequent visits Chef made to our table to get our reaction to each course. The attention was greatly appreciated
We have experienced many wonderful meals at this neighborhood establishment. This is our first V-day
Celebration. It was memorable!
Thank you Chef M and all the staff!
Valentines Day, price fixed limited menu, not great food and expensive. Couldn’t take the one salad on the menu, that had blue cheese, and substitute out the blue cheese — pre-made?
Wonderful food, atmosphere, and service. Although we traveled into the city specifically to try Bistronomic, I feel it is a real neighborhood gem.
Brunch for three, as always, great food at a fair price.
Was greated by a very energic and shearful French lady. Food was great, service attentive. We will be back!!
My companion and I were warmly welcomed and excellently waited upon. We took the set menu option and were not disappointed – every dish was carefully prepared and presented and quite delicious. We stayed until 11 pm and were the last to leave (note that we were not ASKED to leave). I would recommend Bistronomic to anyone and will be back myself very soon.
Delightful family-owned French restaurant near the Magnificent Mile. Intimate seating, friendly staff, and superb cuisine. Moderate wine list. We found this gem through OpenTable.
On-the-mark French restaurant with bistro-like food/drink options, as well. Very reasonable price points, with small-medium-large plate options. Duck confit was fun and tasty; duck main entree was good, although the butternut squash accompaniment was a bit bland. Pate was a bit pedestrian, but individual cheese appetizers were creative and tasty. Wine menu was solid, although a beaujolais and other French reds would be welcome. Best move of the night: When an unexpectedly large and noisy group moved behind us, our request to move to a quieter table was quickly granted with no complaint. Service was attentive and helpful throughout. All in all, a lovely meal and warm experience on a cold winter's night in Chicago.
