Love the relaxed feel of the place, great food, great service
My wife and I went to Bistro Vendome for my birthday, and it was beyond all our previous dining experiences here! We were seated at a small table near the patio doors, which was perfectly lighted and secluded and the restaurant was calm at 10 in the morning. We started our rare, childless brunch with the steak tartare and fantastically strong and smooth French press coffee (which was a perfect amount of coffee for the two of us). The tartare was expertly minced and the baguette was evenly toasted. Our entrees came quickly and we both were very pleased. I ordered the Oeufs Bénédicte and my wife had the Quiche du Jour. The Bénédicte was wonderful with expertly poached eggs and deliciously moist shredded duck. The sauce maltaise perfectly balanced the sweetness of the duck and the mildness of the poached eggs. After our meals we splurged with a sweet finish. We enjoyed the Apple Frangipane Tart and the surprisingly phenomenal Grapefruit Bavarian, which I received gratis for my birthday. Both desserts arrived, and a single candle greeted me, suspended on the rim of the plate as if floating; a delightfully simple gesture. The desserts were wonderfully textured and perfectly sweet, just enough sweetness to round out our meal. Our very attentive and kind server brought us our bill along with a birthday card signed by the staff and a complimentary drink card. This meal was one of the most delicious and enjoyable meals we have had out in years and we will absolutely be coming back soon!
My wife and I went there to celebrate her birthday. It was wonderful. Wanted a “special occasion” restaurant that wasn’t outrageously expensive. Bistro Vendome
was just perfect. Menu was in the $20-30 range. Compared to places like the Fort, Chart House or Flagstaff House it was a real bargain. Felt like being in Paris. The service could not have been more attentive. The food was exceptional. The ambience was authentic French elegance. Five stars all the way around.
The venison was divine, the service fast and also charming. We will return, and thank you!
We 'missed' our reservation two weeks ago (the light rail in Denver was held up as they added cars to accommodate Saturday crowds at the Osage stop). Got to the restaurant just before the 2:30 pm closure but the waitperson who 'greeted' us told us they were closed. We were meeting another couple - so waited outside for them to show up and noticed they were still serving a group of younger patrons outside on the patio. My husband went back in and questioned them and all of a sudden they're open for 'bar food' and we're welcome to come in. Uh, no. Not after that treatment. So, we went back this week before an afternoon performance of Aladdin-making sure to arrive before 2:30 p. What a pretentious place. First the waitperson comes over, fills our water glasses and when done tells me that they also have sparkling water. Maybe should give me that choice BEFORE you make it for me. Menu was for 'brunch' (this is after noon). Very limited choices. I opted for the ham/cheese crepe. Husband for the tartine with 'country pate'. The crepe: several thin slices of deli ham and a slice of swiss cheese with a crepe wrapped around them-barely warm-sitting on a plate with no sauce, no embelllishment. I had to order a side salad with 'champagne' vinagrette (vinegar and oil by any other name). Very dry, not French, people. Unappetizingly presented and mediocre. The tartine? One small piece of bread (tartine=open faced sandwich/two pieces of bread OR one large piece cut in two and presented open faced)-toasted/burnt. Country pate? Tube sausage sliced thin. We ordered coffee (to help sit through a 2+ hour performance) and neither one of us felt any caffeine kick at all-don't know what it was-but not caffeinated coffee-French pressed with large grounds. Weird. Maybe recycled grounds? Summary: pretentious, pedestrian fare, not French in any way except the names on the menu. Do not waste your money or your time here. No chef in the kitchen-just a cook.
Outstanding as usual.
This has become our go to restaurant when we travel to Denver for shows at the Denver center for the performing arts. The food and service have always been outstanding.
Great dinner for my birthday. Halibut was delicious. Server was attentive and friendly.
Nice night out.
A friend came in from out of town and we took her to Bistro Vendome for dinner. It was a very positive experience. We all were impressed by the friendly and helpful service, nice atmosphere, and beautifully prepared food. Our friend, from Austin TX (a foodie town), took down the name of the restaurant for return visits. We'll also be back!
Outstanding food & service, as usual! Love the spring menu.
Perfect place ALWAYS! Went after a longtime and so happy to see that they have maintained every bit of themselves as ever!
We eat at BV before each play at the Buell . My favorite trout is no longer on the menu and the salmon was not an equal substitute. Good but not great. My husband loves the classic steak with fries. The service was slower than normal which made us nervous since we had to go through security at the Buell. But we made it. Our server was competent but not friendly (although she was quite busy). We will definite return in May before our next play.
We came to celebrate our 7 year anniversary. As soon as we were sat they gave us complimentary prosecco. The sweetest thing ever! It was their Monday movie night and OMG it was amazing! I have never been to an event like this before and I would highly recommend it. Food was out of this world and when dessert came out they brought us a card that said "Happy Anniversary!" and everyone signed it. It is the little things like this that make peoples night. Amazing service. Thank you.
I love Bistro Vendome. The food is always amazing, and Brandi's service takes their brunch to a next level!
Wonderful restaurant. Closest to Paris I have found in the States. Food and wine excellent, ambiance very Parisian and the service was wonderful. I highly recommend it.
I booked a reservation at Bistro Vendome based on the recommendation of a friend. We were celebrating his birthday, and he loves escargot. Besides the escargot appetizer, we had a delicious, finely crafted meal and delicious drinks. Our server was attentive and helpful, and the atmosphere takes you back to Europe.
This was my second time to Bistro Vendome and, again, I was very impressed. The food was excellent and the service superb. My mother, and native Californian who has been to France many times, ordered the scallops, an notoriously difficult dish to get right. She said they were the best she has ever eaten anywhere! We'll be back and we'll be bringing friends.
We were there for our anniversary and went based on a recommendation from a friend and loved the entire experience, great food and wait staff.
Bistro Vendome has been a favorite of ours in Denver for years. We can always rely on excellent service (knowledgeable, genuine, friendly, attentive...) and excellent food.
Bistro Vendome is one of our favorite go-to places. They have an interesting French Bistro menu, very pleasant and efficient servers and an attractive outdoor seating area in nice weather. We were there for Easter Brunch and both of us enjoyed our meals. The scallops were very tasty. My wife particularly enjoyed the sauce that accompanied the dish. I had oeufs hollandaise with duck confit. This was also a tasty dish. We shared a creme brulee which is one of the best in Denver. We will return again in the near future.
My daughter was very excited to treat me to brunch at Bistro Vendome! It is a lovely location and the waiter was fantastic. I did feel though the food is excellent, it is overpriced. You are paying for the location on Larimer Street. We were at a tiny table in a tiny room with no great ambiance. I'm sure other rooms were less close and more enjoyable, but I didn't feel we got the value for our $.
I am a fan of Chef Jen and this restaurant did not disappoint. Had the Scallops Grenobloise, and the sauce, described as an "emulsion of parsley and capers" was exquisite. Only complaint was that no server could really tell me about the sauce except to parrot that description. I know what an emulsion is! Tell me more! Would like to come here again and again so that I could try everything on the menu!
Duck confit eggs Benedict TDF! Croque Madame, yummmm!
Bistro is a true LoDo gem. Always classy, delicious and cozy. Food is prepared so well; tastes fresh and specially made. Service top notch- friendly and helpful but not constant. I really look forward to going here and consider it a treat.
My wife and I went to this restaurant for our 40th wedding anniversary. We liked everything about this restaurant and would recommend it highly for any occasion. Only down side to cold to sit on the very cool looking patio.
People are very friendly, my steak was cooked perfectly (ask for rare, I mean, just seared, and they do it).
Bistro Vendome continues to impress me. We had a wonderful dinner and fantastic service. The food is always unique and delicious. The service is always thoughtful and engaging. They made a special meal for our 2 yr old daughter - ham and cheese crepe. They offered the option and I was very appreciative. I am always impressed that we can have drinks, appetizers, entrees and dessert and the amount seems so reasonable, especially for a Larimer St location. Thank you! We will be back many times!
My partner compared the food to the Michelin 3 star restaurants we recently experienced in France. I wouldn't go that far but the food was excellent. The wine list was quite nice with some superb wines at reasonable prices. Our server was knowledgeable about the source of ingredients. Like those excellent restaurants in France there are a few classic French items on the menu but overall the food is French because of excellent technique. A card on the table mentioned that Thursday is the night for traditional French comfort food.
We went there after a matinee performance of Hamilton. We had many reasons to be celebratory, some health related. This restaurant never disappoints for food and service. We try to go before it gets busy since I have a hearing loss and noise is an issue.
All of our food was delicious. We started with the Escargot appetizer which was lovely. It was Classic french night so we both had the Petrale Sole. It was cooked to perfection. We ended with the Creme Brûlée and a French Press coffee. It just does not get better in Denver though there are many others, none are French.
Never disappoints! Mussels, trout & scallops were all outstanding. Perfect Pre-theater dinner.
Excellent food; so so service. The waitress looks very unhappy like we owe her some money.
Good atmosphere, good service and excellent recommendations by our server.
My wife and I have been going the Bistro Vendome for many years and have had only the best service and fantastic cuisine. We always recommend to friends and any one looking for great brunch or a romantic dinner.
Food and service were excellent at this picturesque setting in Larimer Sqare.
Always a delightful experience at this restaurant. We had a party of 4. The Chicken liver mousse, charcuterie, and mussels were excellent starters which we paired with a nice Viognier. Two types of salads and our entrees included the Sole with lemon and caviar, and the pan roasted chicken paired with a wonderful Cabernet blend. A great finish after Hamilton! We really could have just ordered the liver pate and mussels and would have been content (two excellent appetizers if you’re short on time!) Don’t miss this restaurant with a quaint vibe!
Service was amazing as usual. The salmon special with hearts of palm and grilled avocados was delicious.
We went to celebrate my husband's birthday. Everyone enjoyed their dinner, but his steak frites was not cook enough. Charcuterie plate was lovely. My escargot were a little overcooked. the venison sous vide was fabulous.
My favorite restaurant in Denver. I try to celebrate all special occasions here.
Simply outstanding. We love Le Bistro Vendome. This was our second visit before the theater. The food (Sea Scallops for me and Salmon for my husband) was delicious, healthy, and beautifully presented. The portions are just perfect, I can indulge in a few slices of the delicious french bread and get dessert without feeling stuffed, or feeling like I over-indulged. The dessert was out of this world too, grapefruit and strawberries with a Bavarian cream and meringue. Kudos for offering a healthy dessert based on fruit without a ton of sugar!
We had a pre-theater dinner at Bistro Vendome and very much enjoyed it. One of us had the Steak Frites with a peppercorn sauce and the other the salmon special. This was the first time I had Steak Frites and if I had it again I would not order it with the peppercorn sauce. It was a little to spicy. My wife had the salmon which was great. The beet salad was outstanding and the sorbet was very good. Overall a great restaurant!
