Bistro Vendome Ratings and Reviews
The cocktails, pre-dinner, are interesting and whet the appetite for supper. We had the bœuf braisé : outstanding. This is fairly traditional French bistrot fare with a few imaginative hints, but nothing daring. If you don't like nouvelle cuisine, this place could become habit-forming. A Larimer Square staple for many years: always reliable, always friendly. Nice selection of wines, especially reds. Bravo, one more time! ~RL
The service was excellent and the food was outstanding. Without a doubt, the cocktails were some of the most well crafted cocktails I've had since moving to Denver. The wait staff was swift, polite, knowledgeable, and readily accommodated our timeline without complaint. We will certainly be recommending Bistro Vendome to everyone we know , and we can't wait to go back!
This was a true discovery! My only regret is that I am here for four days, and could not come here to eat at least once a month. In fact, we are going back for a second time instead of trying a new restaurant while in town!!!
The food was delicious but the people were so caring, attentive and kind. How refreshing for service in a restaurant.
Love Bistro Vendome and eat there several times a year, usually for weekend brunch. First time for dinner in several years. Food uniformly good and mostly true to French traditions. Only 2 complaints, or things I wish would change. The frites are coated with some kind of sweet/sour/salty finish which I do not find appealing or tasty. When I am looking for a steak frites, I want it to be traditional, but I keep forgetting and am disappointed. And wish there were a coffee option beyond French press. For those familiar with this method I'm sure it is easy, but I never remember how long to time it etc. Would love to be able to order a cappucino and have it served to me.
I love this restaurant and have eaten here many times. Our food and service at our most recent outing was great until I found a hair in my salad. OK, this happens, it shouldn't but it does, and it's still gross (and so disappointing because I was really enjoying my salad). The waiter apologized and took it away and that was the last we heard of it, which was also disappointing. I intentionally didn't make a big deal of it as I didn't want the other diners to hear or make a scene, but I thought his lack of acknowledgement afterwards was wrong. The rest of our meal, and our wine, were outstanding and I will run back here. But the salad hair thing did leave me with a bad feeling. It was removed from the bill, of course, but I dunno, I feel something more should have been offered to make up for such a gaffe at a restaurant of this caliber. A glass of champagne? A dessert? An offer of a side dish? A remade salad? Something. It didn't ruin the meal because it really was all so very good (and the server, apart from this, was excellent, as were the support servers). So all my stars would be higher if it weren't for the salad incident. But do go to Bistro Vendome, order the steak frites au poivre and listen to the wine recommendations. You won't be disappointed!
I have been patronizing Bistro Vendome for many years. I have never had anything but a positive experience each time I have visited, whether for brunch, lunch or dinner. The location is perfect if you are attending the theater or shopping in the area, and ambience, service and food are second-to-none! I also feel it is a great value for such wonderful cuisine!
We did not have a good experience and have eaten there many times.
The server was not extremely friendly and just seemed like he was going
through the motions. Our food came out luke warm to cool. We did not
send it back.
I have always liked your restaurant, but this gave me pause as to if I want
to return. There are too many good restaurants that do it right, to waste
money and time on something mediocre.
Thank you for reading.
This was our anniversary dinner and I'm a big fan of Bistro Vendome. The European ambiance and service are always top notch. And the food is always prepared thoughtfully.
This is the first time I was disappointed. My husband ordered the french onion soup, and steak and frites. All excellent. He kept commenting on how tender his steak was. We also ordered brussels sprouts to split. I ordered the salad special and the halibut. The salad was delicious. The halibut dish and the brussels sprouts came out luke warm. Seemed like timing in the kitchen was off. I then had to wait. It kind of ruined the evening. The fish itself was excellent when it came back, but the accompaniment just seemed a bit off for what I'd expect from a French restaurant. Perhaps I just made the wrong choice and didn't thoroughly read the dish's description. The manager was apologetic for the wait, and picked up our wine. They're a class act but nonetheless I was kind of bummed.
This was a great experience! We went to their Monday night movie night ,which includes an amazing Prix Fixe menu. We were the only ones there due to some last minute cancellations, so the whole space was ours. The menu was constructed to coincide with the movie ( Marie Antoinette), so it was rich, decadent and delicious! General manager Missy and Chef Becca were very attentive , as was the rest of the staff. What a wonderful first experience at Bistro Vendome!! We will be back ASAP!
Such a cute French Bistro in Larimer Square, which you really have to see at night, so beautiful! Excellent food, felt like I was dining in France. The Boeuf Braise was the All Star!!! Truly exquisite flavors!! We also had the Malfatti Citrouille aux Champignons (pumpkin dumplings) with duck confit, a perfect Fall dish, great flavors. We started with the Salad du Marche' (beets, goat cheese, peaches & walnuts), also did not disappoint. Then for dessert, we had the Chocolate Bouchons and the Foie Gras Creme Brulee! What a nice meal, I'll definitely go back!
I've always enjoyed dining at Bistro Vendome but the special steak entree last Sunday was fatty and tough. My dining partner ordered the same dish, and hers was no better.
Our server asked how we liked the meal, and we were honest with him about the beef.
He was kind enough to comp us a portion of the bill, and gave us dessert coupons to be used at a later date.
I'm hoping that this was a one-off.
Excellent gruyere quiche at Sunday brunch. Very good French press coffee.
Only downside: the room we were in was exceptionally noisy - no cushions or drapes or anything to dampen the echo. When our server was describing dishes to nearby diners, we couldn't even converse ourselves.
This is the first time I've been to Bistro Vendome and I am very impressed. My spouse and I had just been in France a few months ago and we were extremely satisfied with how perfect the French food was here. Very high quality foods and ingredients, perfect portion sizes, and creative dishes. Most importantly, all cooking was executed perfectly! Everyone who served us was cordial and attentive, as well. All in all, a top-tier experience. We will be back.
Last minute ressys for 6. They were able to accommodate albeit in the indoor courtyard. We were celebrating our kids’ engagement and a birthday. Very nice, professional, but friendly server. Brought out comped dessert. Food and wine, excellent. Beautiful evening.
We've been in Denver for two months now. Eating out all the time. Vendome is the best place so far.
Saturday night pre-concert dinner: Well made cocktails. Great Frisee salad, whole bass, cheese plate, desserts (profiteroles). Gracious service.
Nicely decorated room.
We'll be back.
Have been going there for a long time but I must confess that the service was NOT good. Our guests have not been there and we highly recommended them to this place. They remarked about the service before I mentioned it. The waitress was NOT attentive . Wine took forever to arrive. (How long does it take to get a bottle of wine???). She was also a bit nasty when I asked for the wine. Will be a while before we go back. Too bad as it has been my favorite. My daughter gave me a gift certificate for this place. Call me as needed as we really like this place and maybe the lady serving us was just having a "bad hair day." Jack 303-638-5888
The door to the patio was super intrusive as we were sitting near the door. The servers did not close the patio door on a cold evening making the restaurant temperature cold. Customers had to get up repeatedly to close the door as the servers were not mindful about closing it. The food was okay, we use to love to coming here before a show, but have noticed that the restaurant has declined overall food and service.
